Making the reservation I indicated we were celebrating a Birthday. When I checked in with the hostess no mention of who is celebrating a Birthday. Our server did not ask if we were celebrating a special occasion. This was our fourth time eating here; the previous three dining experiences were above average. Tonight’s meal and experience was subpar. Every server has an off night and it seems our server was going through the motions.
I ordered the Berkshire pork chop medium. The middle of the chop was completely raw. However, let me say this, the flavor was spot on! Nonetheless, I sent the chop back. What came back was dried out over cooked chop. Our kid ordered a grilled cheese and we had to remind the server that grilled cheese came with fries. One last thing, when we made the reservation apparently there was special promotion tonight, complimentary dessert. We ordered one dessert. When the check came, the charge for the dessert was on our bill. I didn’t bring it to the servers attention due to the number of missteps that had already occurred.
very nicer neighborhood restaurant with good food and ambience.
Amazing dinner for a large group.
The food was decent but the service, both in seating us for our reservation (we waited a half hour past our reservation time) and the table service was slow. Forgotten item, serving different members of the group at different times and generally slow. Also, the bench on one side of our table was way too high for the table. They should sue their designer/ carpenter.
My fiance and I came here for brunch on a Saturday. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. However, we were seated in a poor spot, kind of around the corner wedged between a large group. I'll have to remember to make sure we do not sit here again, because we were neglected by service. Won't stop us from going again, will just speak up next time if the host tries taking us to that same table.
Food and drinks were really good and the price was decent. Generally not a bad experience but I wish I had a more attentive waiter.
1) He seemed to be a bit frantic so unsure if he was new or having an off day. He came and took our drink order quickly but then took a while to come for our food order; we were both more than halfway done with our drinks before our food order went in.
2) Popcorn! The place smells like popcorn and every table has popcorn. Unfortunately, we never got any! I would have asked for some but the waiter didn’t come by our table ( even though my friend’s cocktail glass was empty) until our food was being delivered. No point in having the popcorn once my food arrived.
3) Ordered the short rib Benedict and asked for a side of grits. The grits never came but wasn’t on the bill when I paid so I guess I lost nothing. I was just looking forward to them. I didn’t have a chance to mention it since the waiter didn’t not come back once the food was delivered to see how everything was going.
I saw some other waitstaff that seemed much more attentive so I would definitely try again and hope for more consistent service.
Second time in a row that our reservation at 7 took 20+ minutes to seat us. This time they provided champagne while we waited.
Fun place. Can be noisy. Food always great! Service is always on point! Servers are well trained and food is always quick to arrive and hot. We look forward to coming in every time we visit VA.
Great oysters for $1
The photos are a bit deceiving. I had never been but had planned on it for a special Valentine’s Day dinner since the photos looked amazing and mouthwatering. It’s basically just a steakhouse in a strip-mall area. Nothing to write home about. Food was good (not great) but we were super disappointed that the grilled oysters were colder than room temperature and had clearly been sitting out before making their way to our table. Server was inexperienced and timid. He was nice but he always appeared to be unsure of himself and inattentive. If you want a special, romantic steak dinner, with excellent service, this isn’t your place. What was even more disappointing was I used my $25 OpenTable gift card worth 5,000 points for this reservation. Definitely bummed.
Copperwood never disappoints! We loved the bar staff so much we stayed and had our dinner there! Lobster/butterleaf lettuce wraps...amazing! Smoked gouda mashed potatoes, bacon brussel sprouts, salmon, all cooked perfectly and oh so tasty! Can't wait for another date night here:)
Amazing staff, manager and food. Can not say enough about the quality of food and mixed drinks. Will be returning and recommending to others!
Just an amazing place. I accidentally cancelled our original reservation on one of their busiest nights and they were still able to accommodate us in my opinion “in a better seating location”. When I say that this was the most expensive dinner we have ever spent on it is because we flew from the Midwest just for the atmosphere and food. This place never disappoints and we highly recommend it!!!!
Was there for Valentines, it was okay.
It was my first time going to Copperwood Tavern the food was outstanding and the service was superb. I even had a beer alongside my meal and it was delicious(I don’t really drink beer) my waitress paired it so nicely with my meal.
It was good, got a great table
Greats server (I think her name was Sydney?) One of the best pieces of fish (Halibut) I've ever had. The deviled egg app was killer - served on what can best be described as bacon jerky - YES!
DRINKS WERE EXCELLENT
MAIN COURSES WERE GOOD
SIDES WERE ONLY FAIR AND NOT WELL DONE
We use Copperwood for all of important family events and they never disappoint. We look forward to many more celebrations at Copperwood.
Great food. The wait staff seemed a little distracted. Good value for the money and definitely worth trying again.
Here for Sunday brunch. My group all ordered different things and were largely pleased, but found things generally lacking in salt/pepper. That hasn’t been my experience in the past here - it’s one of my go-to brunch spots - so maybe just an off day.
Always excellent times when we eat here! Salads are BIG so they can be shared. Ask for the popcorn
I found the menu to be somewhat limited at lunchtime. More light choices - salads, wraps, etc. would have been appreciated. The server was great. We were a party of 5 businessmen on a time constraint. The food took a bit long to arrive at the table but was prepared properly. One of our party chose to add a side salad after the meal was served and it came out promptly. My Tavern Burger was properly cooked but lacked seasoning. The meat tasted rather bland but the bun and condiments were excellent. Very nice side-salad was an automatic offering in lieu of fries - nice!!
The steak tartare is what keeps me coming back.
Great food, excellent service!
Thought the food and drinks were pretty good. I had the shrimp and grits, but would not order again only because my personal preference is more of a roux vs gravy style which is what this restaurant serves. The breakfast potatoes were well-seasoned and tender. Would certainly go back to try other menu items. Service was a tiny bit slow (server disappeared for long periods of time), but we were there during Sunday brunch, so our server may have been inundated with tables. The kitchen made two relatively minor mistakes with some of the items our group ordered and management promptly corrected them and compensated us for the trouble. That type of customer service is appreciated and will always earn a recommendation in my book.
Brunch never disappoints at Copperwood, but this visit was particularly fantastic from the food to the service. The scotched egg and steak and eggs were perfectly delicious and I couldn’t have possibly had better service. Vernon was an amazing bartender and so attentive! The bar was full, and you felt like you were eating with a bunch of awesome friends with Vernon as the host. He was on top of it all, and we didn’t have to ask for anything.
Gets crowded quickly, but great food and staff.
Really appreciated the service and the atmosphere. Food was great!
I like this place, but our service has been very poor the last couple of times we’ve been there. Our server never acknowledged us when we arrived - had to waive her down after 15 mins. We were a party of 4 and she forgot to put in one of our orders, so everyone was done eating by the time the 4th meal came out. She never checked in on us during the entire meal. People can have bad days, but ironically enough this was the same server we had there the last time we dined. Next time we’ll sit at the bar and hope for the best.
Phenomenal food! The salmon was exquisite!! Outdoor seating in Ja airy? Priceless!!
Excellent food and service. We will be going back soon!
Copperwood Tavern never disappoints! The food was amazing. I had the venison steak, and I would highly recommend that. The Brussels and the peach cobbler were also amazing. The service was great and we were even treated to a free glass of bubbly since someone had accidentally poured a few extra - such a nice surprise & treat!
Staff outstanding ; the amuse bouche was a chef's experiment- a successful take on fried green tomatoes. Already planning my return. Wonderful happy hour oyster option. Reasonable size portions. Would prefer not to have Mason jars, especially for dessert which made eating the peach cobbler trickier than necessary.
Our 2nd visit to Copperwood Tavern (and the same waiter!). Started the meal with their addictive BBQ popcorn & a glass of red wine. Great, knowledgeable waiter! I chose on the short rib & grilled cheese sandwich with crispy fries. Hubby had an avocado & jalapeno burger & fries. Loved both choices. Hope to return for dinner soon. Their tomahawk steak is fabulous!
When my wife and I had to wait a few minutes past our reservation time, we were offered free mimosas! How very nice! The fried green tomatoes are a must to start your meal! My western omelette was outstanding, and my wife loved her salmon salad! Elias was a superb, attentive server, and could not have been nicer!
Food was amazing (although another person in party said salmon was overcooked). Portions were ENORMOUS, so take that into consideration when ordering. Peach cobbler was delicious, but the serving vessel (mason jar) wasn't practical, which made it difficult to eat and fully enjoy.
We went for Brunch the food was great
Eggs Benedict, Gouda grits (my fav), goat cheese omelet was excellent, we also had oatmeal and a burger was done to perfection. Our waiter was very attentive we really enjoyed our Brunch.
Great food, great atmosphere.
