Copperhouse Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Service rating would have been a 5 except for the fact that the hostess and waitress argued in front of us over the waitress not wanting any more people in her section. The hostess refused to listen and they did not come to closure after an angry arguemenr so we were then ignored by both sides for the first 15 minutes of sitting at the table. We finally asked to move to a different section where we might get service but then the waitress apologized and was very gracious with great service once the drama was over. A little too much drama for what I hoped would be a romantic Valentine's dinner...
After 20 minutes and asking for service twice, we left. Asked them to cancel the reservation so we could make one elsewhere, but they even failed to do that.
Didn’t realize this was at a crappy hotel. Likely never would’ve made a reservation here in the first place, but the basic customer service was about as bad as I’ve seen.
Went for brunch. The bloody mary was really good. The food was okay. The service was really bad. We were seated, they brought water and coffee, but then never came back to refill it. When I asked for the coffee to be refilled they brought over one new cup of coffee, none for my dining companions. One friend was lactose intolerant-- they had no almond, soy or non-dairy creamer options at all. Two friends ordered eggs and steak tips cooked medium. They came out raw on the inside. Nobody came by to see if everything was okay. Finally a bus boy came by and we asked him to take the steaks back to cook longer. He did, but then it took forever to get them back. Then our waiter had no idea that we had sent anything back. They finally did bring back the steak and eggs. Which were done properly the second time. Then, some of us asked for fruit and they seemed to have to go looking for fruit to put in it (It was delicious though). The waiter told us the manager was offering us free dessert but we didn't want dessert, so instead they didn't charge us for coffee. This is one of my biggest aggravations with eating out. Please just get the food cooked properly and get it on the table timely. Offering free coffee or free desserts does not make up for the food being poorly prepared and poorly served.
Unfortunately the service was poor but the meal was delicious. This is 2nd time had this waiter and was very inattentive, glasses were empty for at least 10 minutes and waiter visited the table next to us at least three times and never checked on whether we needed anything. Same experience we had with this waiter previously. It's a great local place but the inattentiveness of this waiter makes it less desirable
Pleasantly surprised that such a good restaurant was part of a chain hotel (Best Western). Excellent variety and selections, and outstanding service. Seated upon arrival (with reservations) and service was immediate and not overbearing. Four of us in the party were quite happy with their meals. Only downside was the clam chowder could have been a little hotter and one piece of chicken looked like it maybe was a little pink on the inside but it didn't affect the flavor and we didn't ask for a redo. Bottom line: we'll definitely go back.
We've made multiple trips here for brunch and were shocked by how much the quality of the food has declined. Toast arrived, except it was just regular bread, not toasted; the brisket hash was strips of rubbery meat thrown over some oily potatoes and peppers - adding jalapenos to the dish did not improve the texture or the quality of the oily concoction below; the omelettes that were ordered came out runny and the ingredients were barely included. It was very shocking how bad the food was. We will not return.
We chose the restaurant because it was near our friends' hotel, despite the poor reviews, because we had been there before for lunch and thought it would be a decent if not great meal. We were seated at a high top by the bar. Lots of tiny bugs were flying around our table the entire meal. Our waiter never came by to check on us. We had to ask the busboy to get our waiter when we needed him. Two of us ordered the same dessert, the chocolate peanut butter cake. One came out, then about five minutes later the other one came out. When it arrived, it was about half the size of the first one. We got a manager and asked about the difference. He said it was just the way it was cut, and that the smaller piece "must have been an end or something. " He rushed off and said he would take care of it, and it was removed from our bill, but the person who got the smaller piece was still disappointed. While we were sitting after dessert, the manager came over and asked us to leave because a group had booked the whole area of the restaurant we were sitting in. We were appalled at how rude that was. I would never go back.
Was a little concerned at first when we realized the tavern was part of the Best Western in Waltham, however the food proved to be pretty good, service was great, and we didn't even realize we were in a hotel restaurant. About 30ish beers on tap and traditional american food, very close to the highway, made for a good meeting spot.
Meditteranean wrap was best I've ever had. Turkey in Turkey Rachel sandwich was hand carved. Fries were not as well done as I like, but fine. Portions were ample. Service was faultless and noise didn't interfere with conversation. Highly recommend for lunch.
Traveling with my daughter and saw good reviews on line. Food was good and quick, ambiance dark and a bit stuffy. Really noisy with TVs on blaring. Bar wasn't even full but noise level, with raucus middle aged adults having a few too many at the bar.
Maybe better for singles and drinks than family dining
Varied menu with lots of options for entire family. Food came out quick and everything was tasty. Service was pretty poor though. Restaurant was fairly empty but our server disappeared after our food came out and my husband had to walk around the place to find our server so we could pay our check and leave.
It wasn't that the food was terrible - it was good; good variety, portions, served 'hot'.
It wasn't the parking - parking is incredibly easy, which was one of the factors in choosing to meet here.
It wasn't because of the location - the central location of CHT is perfect; right off 128 - easy accessvfrom a number of locations.
It wasn't a question of value - prices are fair/ comparable to the quality of food served.
It WAS, however, the shockingly disrespectful and unprofessional attitude of some of the staff that has CHT now on a permanent 'no-go/ not recommended' list. I mean, why would you go if the service makes you feel like you are a nuisance?
We won't come back because the attitude reminded me of High School; where a group of catty girls group up and trash talk, thinking they are clever and funny.
A group of us have been coming here consistently for six months. The last time we came, we were seated under a speaker - which made a member of our party unable to enjoy the gathering, as she is hearing-impaired. Therefore, as it is a large venue, when making the reservation we specifically requested to be seated in a 'quieter' area of the restaurant due to the hearing impairment of a group member. 20 minutes before arrival; I phoned to make sure they had seen the request - the hostess replied, "no problem".
However, up on arrival, the hostess and two waitresses were openly mocking the request; saying to each other, "Ya - we have a group coming that actually requested a quiet table. Ya seriously. This is a bar. And she called to check. Ya - what was she thinking? Crazy."
I politely leaned in and said, "I would be the crazy lady that called with the 6.30 reservation..." - to which the two waitresses scattered like cockroaches and the young, inexperienced hostess just looked at me blankly.
To make matters worse, our waitress continued to treat us with open, unabashed exasperation.
We would be crazy to go back - and suggest you reconsider as well.
My friends and I met for lunch on Saturday. I did not realize this restaurant was a hotel restaurant, otherwise, I probably wouldn't have picked it , as my experience with these types of restaurants is poor. But it had a patio and it was nice outside, so it worked out well for catching up with friends. The patio was messy and there was torn up drink coasters under the table. The bathrooms were filthy. Cigarette smoke wafted onto the patio from people standing outside the hotel. The food was okay. I liked the bruschetta and guacamole/chips appetizers. The fish tacos were bland and the sweet potato fries came out cold. They did have a good beer selection and we enjoyed our drinks. The server was nice and was available when needed but not in the way. Unfortunately, there were too many negatives to return or to recommend.
Great wait staff. Prompt service. Food was good -- neighborhood tavern quality. The place is really, really noisy. It was packed and there seemed to be lots of work people in groups of 6 - 10 having drinks / light dinner. So perfect place if that is what you are looking for; not the best selection if you're looking to unwind in a place where you can talk.
Sadly, an opportunity missed. I was hoping for a simple, low-key, casual dining experience and it was a miss. Service was awkward, slow, and lacking in professional demeanor. Food was sub-par (grilled sandwiches served lukewarm, un-crispy and un-melted cheese). Wine list mediocre. Decor and vibe made me optimistic walking through the door, but really just disappointing from there. Sorry!
