Copperhouse Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Meditteranean wrap was best I've ever had. Turkey in Turkey Rachel sandwich was hand carved. Fries were not as well done as I like, but fine. Portions were ample. Service was faultless and noise didn't interfere with conversation. Highly recommend for lunch.
Traveling with my daughter and saw good reviews on line. Food was good and quick, ambiance dark and a bit stuffy. Really noisy with TVs on blaring. Bar wasn't even full but noise level, with raucus middle aged adults having a few too many at the bar.
Maybe better for singles and drinks than family dining
Varied menu with lots of options for entire family. Food came out quick and everything was tasty. Service was pretty poor though. Restaurant was fairly empty but our server disappeared after our food came out and my husband had to walk around the place to find our server so we could pay our check and leave.
It wasn't that the food was terrible - it was good; good variety, portions, served 'hot'.
It wasn't the parking - parking is incredibly easy, which was one of the factors in choosing to meet here.
It wasn't because of the location - the central location of CHT is perfect; right off 128 - easy accessvfrom a number of locations.
It wasn't a question of value - prices are fair/ comparable to the quality of food served.
It WAS, however, the shockingly disrespectful and unprofessional attitude of some of the staff that has CHT now on a permanent 'no-go/ not recommended' list. I mean, why would you go if the service makes you feel like you are a nuisance?
We won't come back because the attitude reminded me of High School; where a group of catty girls group up and trash talk, thinking they are clever and funny.
A group of us have been coming here consistently for six months. The last time we came, we were seated under a speaker - which made a member of our party unable to enjoy the gathering, as she is hearing-impaired. Therefore, as it is a large venue, when making the reservation we specifically requested to be seated in a 'quieter' area of the restaurant due to the hearing impairment of a group member. 20 minutes before arrival; I phoned to make sure they had seen the request - the hostess replied, "no problem".
However, up on arrival, the hostess and two waitresses were openly mocking the request; saying to each other, "Ya - we have a group coming that actually requested a quiet table. Ya seriously. This is a bar. And she called to check. Ya - what was she thinking? Crazy."
I politely leaned in and said, "I would be the crazy lady that called with the 6.30 reservation..." - to which the two waitresses scattered like cockroaches and the young, inexperienced hostess just looked at me blankly.
To make matters worse, our waitress continued to treat us with open, unabashed exasperation.
We would be crazy to go back - and suggest you reconsider as well.
My friends and I met for lunch on Saturday. I did not realize this restaurant was a hotel restaurant, otherwise, I probably wouldn't have picked it , as my experience with these types of restaurants is poor. But it had a patio and it was nice outside, so it worked out well for catching up with friends. The patio was messy and there was torn up drink coasters under the table. The bathrooms were filthy. Cigarette smoke wafted onto the patio from people standing outside the hotel. The food was okay. I liked the bruschetta and guacamole/chips appetizers. The fish tacos were bland and the sweet potato fries came out cold. They did have a good beer selection and we enjoyed our drinks. The server was nice and was available when needed but not in the way. Unfortunately, there were too many negatives to return or to recommend.
Great wait staff. Prompt service. Food was good -- neighborhood tavern quality. The place is really, really noisy. It was packed and there seemed to be lots of work people in groups of 6 - 10 having drinks / light dinner. So perfect place if that is what you are looking for; not the best selection if you're looking to unwind in a place where you can talk.
Sadly, an opportunity missed. I was hoping for a simple, low-key, casual dining experience and it was a miss. Service was awkward, slow, and lacking in professional demeanor. Food was sub-par (grilled sandwiches served lukewarm, un-crispy and un-melted cheese). Wine list mediocre. Decor and vibe made me optimistic walking through the door, but really just disappointing from there. Sorry!
We had a 7:15pm reservation and arrived at 6:45pm. We checked in with the host/hostess and said we would be at the bar. At 7:20pm I went to check on the status of the table only to learn that they had forgotten about us and had given the table to another party. We waited another 20 minutes for a table. The waitstaff was not very knowledgeable and a couple of our orders came out with the incorrect sides. There definitely was a lack of training with both the front of the house staff and the servers. The food was just OK, and everything was drenched in butter. I will not be returning.
Went for brunch with friends...Clam Chowder was very good...nice and thick and creamy. My husband and friend had the Corned Beef hash entree and said it was just ok...did not taste homemade and was not crispy. It tasted like it came from a can. Lacked flavor. I had a sausage and cheese omelet with jalapeños and hash browns. Hash browns were ok...nothing to write home about. The omelet was not that great...sausage did not taste like a quality sausage...it looked like a cut up hot dog, and just didn't taste very good. Would not go back.
We were looking for a new place to eat in the Waltham area, and we decided to try the Copper House Tavern. Drinks were great, excellent draft beer selection, well made cocktails, appetizers and food was very good, hamburgers tasted fine, chicken pie was good, service was great. Well worth the money!
We had reservations for 6:30. we were seated as soon as we came in. We were waiting for 2 more people. The waiter came over just as the rest of our party arrived. He said he would be back. He came back in a few minutes to get our drink orders. He was pleasant and attentive, without being pushy through out the meal. Food was very tastey . Apps came out quickly after we ordered them. Meals came out a few minutes after we finished our apps. Everything timed perfectly. Only down side was there was a table with children near by. The kids were very noisey. Other than that it was a very good experience.
I was definitely excited to try this place since I saw it on the Phantom Gourmet and I am a lover of breakfast items. So this particular restaurant was on my list of places to try brunch at and was disappointed to find it was not as great as the reviews. Definitely not a dish worth driving to.
