Copper Pot Indian Grill Ratings and Reviews
Told the server a little about what we liked in general and asked him to surprise us. We were not disappointed! Food was delicious. Spice level was right on target. Veggies were cooked to tender perfection. Cauliflower appetizer with saucy batter was fantastic.
Only negatives were;
Lamb was a little too firm, considering that it was a stew.
They forgot about our request to remove an ingredient due to food allergies. But they did whip us a new dish moderately quickly in response.
My partner and I stopped in before a show, and we both left happy we stopped in. The decor is a little much but besides that the food is fun, authentic, different and very vegetarian friendly. And for all the food we got the bill was very reasonable. We will most deffenetly be back for more. It is my opinion this place is underrated and a hidden gem.
We had a good experience! If you like Indian Food, this is a very good choice! The menu offered many authentic options! I was a little mislead, as I thought it was in the North Loop area, but it is south of Washington Avenue on Hennepin Ave.. It looks like they do a nice lunch buffet! I would recommend it!
The food was absolutely delicious and we had great service! We were open to experimenting and the owner came out and asked us what type of meat and general spicy level we prefer and brought us back fantastic dishes which we all shared. I'd definitely go back!
Had to wait 25 minutes to be seated after the reserved time.
Appetizer was extremely sweet. Main course was tasteless with a weird sour taste and a lot of Garam masala. After complaining to the manager, they just added some spices to counteract the sourness which remained unchanged. We ended up not eating the curry and decided not to go there again.
This is my favorite restaurant. The food is incredible. I also like that it's not a noisy place; I can hear the people I'm sitting with. It always feels kinda warm and cozy in there and there is a spicy aroma in the air. I am so surprised that I don't hear more buzz about this place and that it is not packed constantly. People need to try this place.
This was my first time eating Indian food so the host picked the appetizer and dessert for us. Not really sure how to pronounce them but they were delicious. The host went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our meal and experienced some of the great foods they had to offer. Was really excellent
Food was fantastic! Incredible. Met the owner, also a great guy, but seems overwhelmed. Made a reservation for 8 pm, weren't seated until 9... no compensation, so may as well have just walked in. If take the time to reserve a spot, I expect that there will be a table in a reasonable time.
Service was slow and we had a show to attend afterward. Will not return before a show again. Food was good. Don't sit on the side of the room where the front door is located on a cold evening. The cold air rushes into the restaurant every time the door is opened.
It was a excellent meal for four people. This was a pre Cirque de Soleil TORUK show dinner-gathering of friends, including one vegetarian diner. Everything from taste of food to reasonable pricing was satisfying, Copper Pot is definitely maintaining its high standard. I last ate there four years ago when I attended the show War Horse. Just like last time the food and service were outstanding! I would there again and again if lived nearby rather than in White Bear Lake!
Probably some of the best Indian food I have had. The samosas were delicious and the crust was super flaky and crisp. The pakora was also a great appetizer! For our entrees, the lamb vindaloo had such tender pieces of lamb and a flavorful spicy sauce. The andhra chicken was a wonderful new try. The sauce was very unique and had the perfect amount of spice. Great service, very attentive and friendly!
First off my friend and I were asked to put our jackets on when we sat down. Apparently our tank tops (which showed NO cleavage or skin other than our arms) were offensive? Perhaps to the culture? I don't know- we were not told. Mind you it was about 95 degrees that day and we ARE on American soil. I was offended. The waiter's demeanor was abrasive and abrupt. He made us feel we were inconveniencing him every time we asked a question or requested something. Perhaps it was just his way. The food took a long time to come. Appetizers were not that appetizing. The main courses were tasty but portions very small. We received only 1 bowl of rice with our 2 dishes - to share. We had a show to catch so couldn't finish the meal and asked for to-go containers. They were extremely small and my shank couldn't fit in them. I was told sorry you can't take the bone because that's all we have. We asked for foil for the pita bread (which was delicious by the way) and we were brought 1 piece of foil! We had to ask for another. This was during Restaurant Week and these meals were $30 each - not cheap. I also noticed not one female was working in this establishment. I found that rather odd. At any rate, I will not come back here, and I will not recommend it to any of my friends.
The food was absolutely delicious. There are lots of options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The cocktail list was fantastic. My group had reservations for an event after dinner and the staff was great about getting us out in the nick of time. The location is pretty great for people watching - especially during a themed bar crawl! I will definitely be coming back to Copper Pot.
Finding a good Indian food restaurant is difficult in MN but this was a great find. The gobi was a spectacular appetizer and the chicken tikka was delicious. The chef is capable of making dishes that are not super hot but still very flavorful. I will go back and try the spicer version of the chicken tikka very soon.
My husband and I had never had Indian food before coming here. Overall our meal was great! Our waiter was very nice and selected our meal for us off the menu after we said we had never had Indian food before. I would say it is like comfort food, a stew type meal over rice. Flavorful! I thought the appetizer was great, some sort of empanadas thing. Not sure the names of any of the food we had as when we asked, our waiter just said if we liked it he would remember and order it for us next time we came in. Had a sweet honey ball dessert, didn't care for it. Tasted like honey soaked up into a ball of bread, meh. Overall good food and experience.
Really enjoyed dinner at the Copper Pot. The food was excellent - meat was moist and sauces were aromatic and delicious. The place is unassuming - it is all about the food - but still, the service was excellent with several wait staff serving our table at the same time and they were friendly and pleasant. Wine selection is a bit limited, but I called ahead regarding bringing our own special wine, and it was no problem to let them open it for a small corkage fee. We have been a few times, never had a bad experience, and will surely be back soon.
Copper Pot has the best waiter - we tell him foods and flavors we like and don't like and he orders for us. We love it because we don't know much about Indian food, but enjoy trying whatever he suggests. Just about everything he brings us has been wonderful. We've been back multiple times and plan to go again.
Copper pot is some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Everything was hot, flavorful, and plentiful. You really get a lot of food for the money. I've been to other restaurants where the same dishes were four to five dollars more and were often smaller as well. Service was fine but not particularly excellent. It wasn't fussy or overbearing which was appreciated but it also was a little too hands off/ impersonal. Food and drinks took some time to come to the table but nothing outrageous. It was well worth the wait and I know that Indian food takes time to prepare (I would be alarmed if the food came out too fast). The dishes leaned towards the spicy side even when ordering mild dishes but it wasn't excessive. Just a consideration if you are extremely spice averse. Highlights include their naan and the best mango lassi I have ever had. It wasn't overly sweet like so many lassis are.
I was greeted by one of the friendly waiters and promptly seated. I started with the Kadambam Pakora, as I had never tried before and they were delicious. My entree was the Lamb Vindaloo. I was surprised that it arrived swimming in a sauce as I had always had it as a dry rub. Nevertheless, it was appetizing and flavorful and superb with the garlic naan that I also ordered. The two negative things I will say was 1. The portion of lamb was incredibly small and was "plumped up" with potatoes to "kinda" fool you (perhaps) 2. No veggies of any kind come with the meal.
They had an interesting cocktail list, of which I tried something new that had vodka, cucumber and pureed melon - very refreshing!
