Copper Chimney - Hotel Le Soleil Ratings and Reviews
Ambiance and service good. Food was mediocre. The luncheon special (beef curry) for $14.00 had sold out by the time we ordered around 12:15 p.m. No substitute was provided. My friend and I both ordered the lamb curry instead at $28.00. There appeared to be no extra value added for the increase in price, i.e. I am sure the chef simply substituted lamb in the vegetable curry sauce for the beef. Very poor. Would not recommend this restaurant for anyone who really enjoys Indian food.
I'd heard rave reviews about this place. As Vij's is my go-to for neuvo Indian cuisine I was hesitant to give it a try. I managed to get the group together for our annual Christmas dinner so we thought we'd give this a try.. It's a very comfortable nicely decorated room. The service personnel were quite good. However the food was not stellar and the prices, especially the wine prices, are offensive. Portion size is ridiculously small and it is not anywhere near as good as their competition. If you're in the downtown core and it happens to be a convenient place to dine for you, go for it. But there are other better places at more reasonable prices in the city. All of us agreed, we won't be returning.
My wife and I had dinner at Copper Chimney on Friday, 01 December 2017.
My wife really enjoyed the Tandoori Salmon and their Butter Chicken was delicious.
Best Crab Cakes I have ever had.
Beautiful room and not too noisy - we were actually able to hear each other talk.
The Not So Good:
Our order, for some reason, was taken by the bartender. 2 other servers then came to our table after the bartender asking to take our order.
A fourth server brought our appetizer and both entrees at the same time - the explanation was that the bartender made "an error".
We all make mistakes, but we were unable to have our entrees directly in front of us because the table was relatively small. Not exactly convenient.
The manger then arrived and told me " I will buy you a beer " to make us for the inconvenience.
Well, I like beer so that was well and good. Unfortunately, he completed ignored my wife as if she did not exist. After this, no servers came to our table and the ?hostess brought over the bill.
The Chefs did a great job. The Service was random and disorganized. At this price point, you can find better food and service (they go together after all) in Vancouver. Will not be back soon.
The Copper Chimney is my "go to place" for lunches with clients, Happy Hour with friends. I highly recommend it. The food is extremely interesting - and in a great way -- there is something different but something for everyone. The kitchen is flexible and accommodating. Unbelievable great value!
We made the reservation via OpenTable and apparently this did not register on their system. Our entire party was treated with utter disrespect and they were not willing to accommodate our group of 6 even though we were willing to wait. Terrible service staff.
We had a wonderful time last Friday at Copper Chimney, I love the food the service is spectacular the live music on Fridays and Happy hour specials. Love it and I recommended this restaurant to everyone I know and will be back again and again! one of the best Indian restaurants in Vancouver.
Expected more complexity to food menu. The decorum exceeds the quality of food. Honestly not bad tasting food but expected more gourmet cooking for the type of environment we were in. Highly recommend to hide or remove the plastic spice containers from view of customers.
Except that a salad came to the table undressed and catching the attention of our server took more than ten minutes, the rest of our dining experience was really very good. The live music was only okay, but kept in the background so those who were enjoying it could and those who wanted to ignore it could too.
I had Christmas dinner with my husband at the Copper Chimney and it was amazing! I didn't expect an Indian restaurant to serve such a delicious and authentic turkey dinner. The ambiance was lovely and the quality and service was fantastic, we'll definitely be back! :)
