Copper Café and Bakery, at Madonna Inn
Adjacent to the Copper Café, guest enjoy the Madonna Inn Bakery featuring world-famous cakes, pies, cookies, along with French and Danish pastries, all made daily with the finest ingredients.
The Monte Cristo sandwich was great and hard to find these days. The service was very friendly
Fabulous place to go especially for celebrating a birthday! They give you a balloon and let you pick out a free dessert from the menu. My daughter got the slice of champagne cake and it was big enough to share with all 7 of us. Thanks Madonna Inn! I also recommend the horseback riding at the stables as well.
Just slow in initial server contact after being seated. About 10-minutes. Other then that great service and food.
A large party of us went to lunch here for a farewell / birthday party. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Of course, it is a very unique place, so your eyes don't get bored looking around. I was told the corned beef hash and eggs was a famous dish and people traveled from afar to order it. I tried it too. It was pretty good. I don't know if I would travel a long distance for it though. Overall, a pleasant experience.
Love this place!!! It was first time and I loved it! Will be back again!
Really average roadside dining. Nothing more, nothing less. Food was ok. Service was excellent.
It was great
Great vibe, great food and great staff! Would absolutely go back when in the area.
This was, in all honesty, the worst time that we have spent at a restaurant in years. We were only going for dessert. I followed local recommendations for places with good desserts in SLO and found this to be the exact opposite of top reviews. Most of the menu items were not in stock. The few that were, milk shakes, sundaes, etc. , were horrible. Even the cakes and pies that everyone raved about were like eating week old items from the discount table at Safeway. I was so disappointed and embarrassed to have taken family, in a limo, to this place. I promise that it will never happen again.
Very good food and service. The noise level is loud, but I'm not sure you can do anything about that..
Funky decor worth seeing. The menu has good choices and the food was tasty. The server was courteous and we didn’t have to wait long for our meal. The restaurant next to it is even funkier and worth seeing or dining at. Reservations are recommended.
The steak was amazing! We also had a slice of lemon coconut cake and banana cream pie for dessert. This restaurant is 5 star all the way!
We were first timers at the Copper Cafe. It was a “girls day” for us and we were celebrating 3 birthdays. Wanted some place special, and we definitely found that at Copper Cafe! Thank you for awesome service and really good food!!
Bad food, great service fixed all left happy. Bachelorette party next to us at noon on a weekday very innaproproate language
My wife ordered the halibut and says it was good. I ordered a Rueben sandwich, not good. There was no thousand island dressing on it, very little sauerkraut, bread was stale, meat dry. Also had coleslaw as a side. It was also very dry, basically just cabbage. Would not recommend this restaurant. Very expensive, all show and no substance.
Lovely one of my favorite places took beautiful pictures in front and worked up an appetite was not disappointed great meal. Treated to a pink cake for an early birthday party! So yummy!
Decent breakfast fare in a pretty trippy place. Our large group was sat 10 min after reservation. Service was great!
We really enjoyed our lunch at the Copper Cafe and stroll around the property. It was a very hot day, over 100 degrees, and the restaurant felt pretty warm. But it wasn't uncomfortable and I'm sure it was hard to keep up with the heat that day. The food portions where big and delicious. I was told we must order a slice of cake to share but alas we were all too full LOL. Would definitely come back again.
Really charming place and good food. Service was very friendly. We didn’t try any of the pastries or cakes but they looked delicious!
The cafe had good food but it was very hot inside. Hard to enjoy your food.
Amazing place with amazing food and awesome service
our waiter sky was so nice and made our experience absolutely wonderful
The place is amazing and the customer service is outstanding but the food is such bad quality. No taste at all.
It was a very busy Sunday so the opportunity to make a reservation on line AND request and get a booth was incredibly convenient! We were greeted with welcome smiles and seated quickly. Staff on every level was very congenial. Since we're locals there was lots of people there that we knew, so that's always a treat. Our food was great, we had lunch, nothing fancy just real good food. And the Inn is always so clean and inviting. It's like a getaway close to home! Thank you and LOVE Opentable!!! Thanks for being so progressive!
I went there to share a moment with my daughter who will be grown and flown in a blink of an eye. Everything was perfct. Then it came time to souvenir shop. I cannot express my disappointment and sadness and embarrassment to find out the gift shop is upstairs! And im in a wheelchair. In this day and age ive never come across this. My daughter was heartbroken. And it was so embarrassing. You obviously have no respect for the disability community. Shame on you!
Birthday breakfast was great! Food and service was very good! Great place for a special occasion!
We were seated quickly, service was quick. Had water very quickly and a special balloon and dessert to help us celebrate our anniversary. We were on the second to the last leg of a week long road trip. It was very nice to be treated for our anniversary!
The atmosphere at the Cafe was nice; could use better lighting due to all the wood. The Toffee Crunch Cake is one of the main reasons we dine at the Cafe.
Always wonderful food, very generous servings the tables look beautiful with the colorful goblets
Here visiting with my wife. Great location and history entering the inn I was impressed and looking forward to a great meal. We were seated and after that we were ignored 15 minutes before the manager brought water and let us know our server would be there soon. Food was great 50 dollar steaks deserve not to be ignored after seating. Food was great bad taste for service.
This was such a fun place to eat. My kids loved their grilled cheese sandwiches but then all fought over my husbands delicious monte cristo sandwich, too. My clam chowder was amazing, though my deviled egg sandwich was a bit bland. I bought a bottle of Madonna inn’s white Zinfandel wine since I enjoyed that with my dinner. Would love to return next time we’re in town.
We had 3 orders.
The biggest disappointment were the GF raviolis. They tasted great yet there was an IMMEDIATE GLUTEN REACTION. This can be even dangerous for some people.
The spinach salad was delicious.
The Deviled egg sandwich was extremely bland yet the sweet potato fries were delicious!
The ambiance was wonderful but because of the reaction from the food and the bland sandwich, I cannot give a better rating.
Huge portions. Delicious. Fun environment. Took out of town guest to see Madonna inn and had to feed them at the copper cafe
If you’re in the area you have to visit The Madonna Inn - it’s a landmark. For lunch the food is good and standard coffee shop fare. The highlight is the bakery and the amazing cakes and pies. It is a local tradition to dine on your birthday and receive a generous complimentary slice of your choice of cake or pie. They have the Pink Champagne Cake that you don’t find very often.
Far and above the WORST meal I have ever not eaten. One bite of this disgusting Tri-tip and even with the very strange sauce, the terrible taste couldn't be covered up. It was kind of poached. Not wanting to send it back and create a scene I spoke quietly by sending the whole thing back. Even the poor broccoli didn't have a chance just plain steamed, no, salt, no pepper, no nothing. Madonna Inn is relying on unsuspecting tourists and the past cachet of excellence. Send the chef down the road to learn how to cook Tri-tip from it's birthplace in Santa Maria.
We moved back to the area after being gone for many years and promptly ordered a cake for a family birthday. Remembering the wonders of Madonna Inn cakes. That too was disappointing. The cake was dry and tasteless. Guess we will cross MI from any future meals, baked goods or taking out-of-town guests to a special place. What a shame that time has eroded what was once a wonderful place to eat and to order cakes that were extraordinary.
Food very good! Big portions. The cake was delicious!! Service was good. Cocktails were horrible.
Wow, I've been getting the frittata for years! And this one was not only small but had maybe one veggie in it, spinach was the only one I could find. I asked for salsa which our waiter was busy and I waited awhile but that added tomatoe and onion. Not what I was use to at all. It was my granddaughter's Birthday and what happen to Madonn inn making your Birthday special? Gone the free cake, gone the special plate, gone the singing staff. Sad, such a special place. I've gone on my Birthday for as long as I can remember and it was always magical. Hoping to pass that along to my granddaughter but 2nd year I've been disappointed so it looks like I need to find a new place.
Excellent food and service. Since we had reservations we just walked in and was shown to our table. Best experience at the Madonna Inn to date.
What a fun place, it makes you smile, all the pink and 70s nostalgia. Our server was lovely. I have driven by a million times & finally stopped. Its picture worthy, its a good time.
Whole experience of our stay just fabulous.
