Although the food was ok I would never go back! The service was awful and the waitress stood 10 feet away from us when interacting with us and barely spoke with us. For a dinner for 2 they charged an automatic 20% tip plus an additional 10% Covid charge at their discretion. Not worth it at all.
Our sever was AMAZING. We loved her and she was very generous to us and made the experience so much better. We were very disappointed with the food however. I ordered the Tagliatelle which was actually great, but way too salty. My partner ordered the carbonara...which tasted more like a cacio e pepe soup. Not a big fan to be honest. Think we just came at a bad time because I've heard so many great things about this place but didn't think the value was worth it.
Coppa is delicious and delightful! We loved our outdoor dining experience on Saturday night. My only comments: the arancini were a little dry, and my (orange) wine was served too cold... but, it was a really cold evening which meant it couldn't really open up to a more "room" temp. Overall, highly recommended! <3
If you’ve ever had a gun held to to your head, then you’ll know what if feels like to eat at Coppa in 2021. The waitress stood 15 feet away like we had leprosy and really shouldn’t be working if she wasn’t comfortable interacting with people. So any away , food comes out and the portions were a joke. I’m ok with their pricing, because the food is very good. Here’s the problem I have. I’ll say it again - portion size is embarrassing and insulting and they have decided to add a 10% COVID charge and a 20% tip for the server and there was just 2 of us. I’m a 25% tipper but don’t want it forced on me. Also if you are going to add extra fees on top of your over priced food, you should tell me before I sit down. Will never eat there again.
The drinks were good, the cheese board for the price was a little outlandish- the salty pig in back bay offers the same quality with more of a selection for a similar price but they give a lot more. For example, they gave us about a teaspoon of fig jam 5 slices of meats and 3 very small bits of cheese for $38. The Pizza was fine, good but not astounding.
The music choices really distracted from the food. Heavy rock and metal are not good choices for a nice meal.
Great Italian food especially the pizzas, amazing patio and very nice service.
Nice patio. Really good food. Pizza excellent. Pasta good
I took the early reservation in order to sit outside, and as it was such a nice night the whole area was bustling. Everyone in masks in the South End which made me feel very comfortable. We got to our reservation a little late, but sat right away. The outdoor seating is generously spaced, so zero reason to worry you’d be near anyone (they’ve tripled the patio size from last year!)
Would happily go back. For those commenting on the 30% added charge, it does include gratuity and our server made a point of mentioning that to us. We’ve been places that charge 20%, and while 30% seems like a lot, we’re leaving 25%+ gratuity in Covid, so we felt OK with it. The food was perfect as usual!
Great outdoor dining experience in Boston during the pandemic.
The food and service were great however there was an undisclosed 30% surcharge on the bill.
Coppa is the best! We can't wait to go again. Order the pizza
Food was great, atmosphere was very safe and covid-friendly. Can’t wait for them to get back into full swing. Great experience.
Is there a spot that delivers day in and day out (even during COVID)...the answer is yes and it is COPPA!
Have you ever had a bone-in, black truffle, porchetta? The answer for most is no...but for me it is a glorious YES!!!
The food here is unreal, comforting and creative...who doesn't like lasagna on a cold day, well you can get it here but the red wine braised bone marrow isn't some thing grandma did and I am glad Chef Brian stuffed it in those layers of pasta, cheese, and béchamel.
The hospitality is unreal...always feel like I am at home (just with better food and cooler people!)
Thank you Coppa for always being there!
Really great outdoor spot! Portions are a little small but very tasty. Great south end spot if you're trying to do some outdoor dining in the spring.
Amazing. Fantastic. Delicious.
30 % mandatory tip ? no mention of it when making the reservation
wow , does a 30% surcharge on the check mean there is no incentive for the staff to be even remotely polite? I never write reviews but this was very disappointing. Used to go here all the time and was great , new management? Shockingly rude manager. They would not turn up the gas tanks because they were low on gas, well it is wintertime in Boston, wouldn't one fill the tanks in advance? Want to support local restaurants but we felt like an imposition.
Amazing food, great atmosphere, wonderful service and strict adherence to COVID precautions.
Food was overly spiced - too much pepper n a pasta dish and too much salt on a veggie side; no cheap option for wine bottle; 30% Covid upcharge was a bit much; had to tip good waitress on top of that!
good food, very very small inside but great service. I’ve heard take out is exceptional!
Food was extraordinarily overpriced for what we received and the 30% “covid tax” was absolutely insane. Furthermore, it was impossible to enjoy our meal as this is the ONLY restaurant I have been to that insists you put on your mask EVERY time the waiter approaches the table. If this establishment is so fearful of covid, perhaps they should remain closed. I certainly will not return again and am thoroughly disappointed, as my last dining experience here 10 years ago was quite different.
Cute little street side table with a space heater
We felt like we should have been notified in advance of the mask policy. Other restaurants we have been to have not required a mask at the table, but Coppa required a mask at the table when you were not eating. It made it hard to relax and enjoy being out of the house celebrating an occasion. I also believe it is best practice to communicate an additional service fee in advance so customers do not feel blindsided. We did not mind supporting the restaurant staff during this hard time, but felt like it was not communicated clearly or disclosed upfront when booking. We understand times are tough and will be back to give the restaurant a second chance.
Love this restaurant. The tiramisu is not to be missed!
It was cold due to the door being opened constantly due to all the takeout orders which we quickly realized was probably the majority of the business considering the servers were a bit rude. I think because of the 30% automatic gratuity added to the bill they felt there was no reason to be nice.
Very good food and a very cute and nice inside, perfect for an upbeat date that won’t be boring.
We loved how cozy and real our experience was at Coppa. Such a pleasant staff and real Italian food. We will be back!
Amazing meal and service every step of the way. This is definitely a top 5 dining experience for me. Well done Coppa Team!
Food was delicious, waitress was wonderful and the front door host was a lot NICER than last time, thank you.
Such a cute little restaurant- amazing food. They charge a 30%tip fee to your bill which I think is a little aggressive, but besides that LOVED my time there. Try the meatballs- and the pizzas, so good
For a restaurant that charges 30% gratuity I find it very odd that you do not give open table points - never seen a restaurant not do this before.
Terrible experience. Not family friendly. Terrible host and cranky staff. Also has a 30% covid surcharge included. Very expensive, uncomfortable (tiny tables and chairs), cold. I never comment but this was one of the worse restaurant experiences I have had!
A neighborhood gem. Excellent Italian Tapas, probably the best grinder in the South End. Excellent wine list and fresh, flavorful homemade pasta. Perfect for sharing. Lot's to try!
Superb pasta. Nice and different choice of wines
Gelato should be allowed to soften before serving
Especially gracious host.
This place was fantastic, great food and even better service. They had a 30% charge for tip plus Covid-related hardship... and I tipped on top of that. Was really great
We’re from out of town yet everyone we come to town we visit Coppa. Great food and service.
Food here is always outstanding! The service is impeccable! I’m always looking forward to going back to visit. It’s a shame what’s happening with Covid limitations. I feel bad for small restaurants taking a big blow to their bottom line. They add 30% gratuity to their checks for staff both kitchen and servers. I gave more....
Support neighborhood restaurants however you feel comfortable. We need to keep the good ones around ;)
A lovely lunch with so many amazing things. The Nantucket scallop crudo with pomegranate and tangerine was delectable. The meatballs were perfect with such an amazing consistency and a beautiful sauce. Let us not forget the tagliatelle pure pasta love
Had a birthday there and everything was so delicious! The jk spritz with Mandarincello is absolutely perfect. The sea urchin carbonara was good, the pasta was perfect but the dish was lacking a little something. I wish they had peas in it but that’s a personal preference. Their celery Caesar is a must get!!! It was my friends birthday and they splashed us with an amaro and sent us a Nutella-like tiramisu with a birthday candle which was such a beautiful touch. Service was amazing, the whole staff was incredible. Covid spacing safe and I felt completely comfortable sitting indoors. Thank you Coppa!
