Copelands of New Orleans Ratings and Reviews
I love this place, I took my mom on Mothers Day and she loved it. So for her birthday she asked me to take her back and once again the service and food was amazing to say the least and we will definitely be back. It's always a great experience every time I go.
Staffing was lacking, they were out of certain food items and overall experience was only marginal. They were turning customers away stating that they were booked but we had a 6:00 seating and it appeared that they were closing as we were leaving. Not a good experience.
I made the reservation for 2 pm Christmas Day. When my 82 yr old mother and I got to the restaurant we were told the reservation was for 2:30. Not a big deal. Before we could take a seat in the bar we were told a table was available. We say at least 10 minutes before a server asked if we had been helped. We said no and were told someone would be with us soon. After about 15 more minutes another server asked if we had been helped. Again we said no. This server brought water and menus. 15 minutes later a third server took our order. And then the wait for the food started. People seated after us were finishing their meals before we our food arrived. My mother ordered the crab cake and shrimp alfredo - almost no sauce on the pasta and crab cakes were dry. I ordered the filet cooked medium and the steak came very rare. And the coffee was cold.
It was overpriced bad food and worse service - $80 + tip. And I only tipped because it was Christmas Day.
Fabulous meal. Our party of twelve for a birthday celebration was offered the private dining room! Orlando, our waiter was amazing .. accurate, efficient, pleasant, tolerant of children etc. Jonathan, Manager was very attentive. Delicious food. Would highly recommend.
It was a mediocre dining experience. Anything that I might complain about was a management problem and not the staff. The bar was out of 3 wines that we ordered. The bartender was sweet and felt badly but she is clearly not responsible for ordering and stocking. The waitstaff was very overwhelmed and working very hard but left us unattended most of the meal. Our server was apologetic and felt badly that she wasn’t very attentive but we totally got that they were short staffed, again ...management problem. Bar drinks took forever, 20 minutes to get a drink and we were done eating when they finally arrived.....short staffed, management problem. It is the weekend before Christmas!!!! Staff your damn hotel!!! Salads came out with entree, waters were empty the entire meal. I’d expect quite a bit better from this location. 3 stars is just because of how hard these poor kids worked. Really closer to 2.
The bread pudding is an attraction to us for the special birthday guest in our group. The restaurant was out of bread pudding. This was on a Sun evening, early and the place was not even busy. The service is routinely a problem at Copeland's - slow and in attentive. It proved the same this time, but we wen it knowing that. The manager promised free desert next time, but we found that tacky was to recover from the situation.
The food was good. One of the hostesses was very rude. We asked to be seated away from the kitchen and I kid you not that the hostess attempted to seat us right next to the kitchen door. We had to insist for another choice. We were then seated and waited 15 minutes until I had to request a waiter. Once he came he was nice, but very slooooow. When the meal was over, we requested our check at 8pm. Around 815 pm, our check finally arrived after I once again had to ask another waiter to find our waiter. The atmosphere is good. Sitting in the bar would probably be a good experience. Very lively.
I've eaten at Copelands for years, but this location always seems to struggle from a service perspective. I haven't been here in quite some time because of it, and I was hopeful that there would have been improvement. Sadly, it wasn't there. On this visit, we sat for at least 20 minutes as servers walked past without acknowledging us until we flagged someone down and asked him to take our drink order. About 10 minutes later, our drinks eventually came. At this point, a server picked up our table and things were decent. Ironically, another table next to us had the same issue around this same time. Food is good here, so I wish they would fix these service issues.
We came here because I lived in New Orleans for years and wanted to give my Mom (her birthday) a taste of New Orleans. Initially the service was great due to an accident I had to call and ask for move back the reservation. The place itself is nice the ambience and all. When it came to the food and service I was really disappointed. Our waitress was nice but didn't listen very well messed up about 4 people orders including the birthday girl. An waiter came to intervene but forgot to advise her to take off the previous plates so my sister was double charged. When she asked for a manager the manger refused to come out and talk. Also we over heard a cook saying f*** them due to sitting close to the kitchen. I don't know if he was talking about us but it was highly unprofessional. My Moms birthday dinner was short of a disaster after a hour drive to this restaurant
21st Wedding Anniversary The staff acknowledged our day They made us feel like they were celebrating with us The food was hot and delicious Our waiter was great and attentive to all of our needs The Manager went out of her way to accomdate our needs Great experience I highly recommend Copeland
The food and service was very well below par. I asked for the shrimp and grits that use to be on the menu but no longer is on the menu. The bread pudding was very stale and the outside was warm but the inside was still cold. That was sent back the waitress did ask did we want another dessert on the house but we decline. The food and service both is beyond standards from our last visits with Copeland.
