Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouse - Eglinton (Midtown) Ratings and Reviews
A group of friends and I travelled from Ottawa to celebrate my boyfriends birthday at Copa as he is a big fan of Brazilian Steakhouses. We were super excited to go to this place as we booked in advanced as well.
The dining area was a very comfortable setting. The food was excellent and the males serving the food were polite and accommodated any of our requests. The only part of our dinner we were not pleased with was the service. Maybe a part of this was due to the fact that we had the corner table near the bathrooms? Our server Natalia only spoke to us once during our whole dinner (which was the initial introduction and serving of drinks). After that, we were pretty much served our refills and requests by the males serving the meat. At one point, we were frustrated with the lack of attention our table got that we asked for our server from other employees there. Even this didn't change anything so we requested the manager (Shauna). After so many follow-ups they said Shauna was not available and they couldn't find Natalia. She eventually attended to our table for the bills. Did not acknowledge, say thank you or even say bye to us once we paid!
Even though the food here is really good, we don't plan on coming back because the service really brought our mood down.
Booked through OpenTable; recieved a confirmation text and when I clicked "Confim" received a text saying "Thank you see you next time" which was confusing. Tried to contact the restaurant for an hour and no one answered the phone. Specified that it was for a birthday celebration and they sat us in an awkward table in the middle of the restaurant which was not very intimate. The live music was a nice touch, however was very loud and overpowering if you were trying to speak to anyone at your table. Overall the meal was good but mood was dampend by some staff. Our server for the table was excellent, however the "gauchos" aka meat servers were a bit rude and testy, especially for a first time visitor. Making fun of people trying to peel the meat off the stick and just general attitude. The selection of food from the buffet was tasty. A good place if you are looking for a different feel.
We were seated where the door opening drastically dropped the temperature of the restaurant. I’d suggest they fix that problem as it makes it uncomfortable for the guests.
Food was ok, salad bar very limited and not great quality. The meat - was good but in short supply.
I loved the place; but; When I made the reservation they asked me if I wanted something special for the night and I asked for a rose at my table (to surprise my husband) and I was surprised because there was no rose. I thought they were going to please me; They should not give the option if they are not going to comply. And I expected to see the Garotas show that they promote online. It is one of the things we wanted to know the place for.
First time at this location, deff not my favorite. Small, cramped seating and any table close to the front are freezing in the winter! Salad bar looked tired and not fresh at all. Looked like a bunch of leftovers. The live music was awesome, service wise it’s difficult to have all the meats roam around when the place is super busy. Our server was super nice, just wish this location was a bit nicer to be in. Will go back to down town spot.
I want to thank the hostesses/server we had that night. Originally we had reserved for four people and last-minute another person had wanted to tag along to celebrate my sister’s birthday. They accommodated and found a way despite being incredibly busy and already having a line up of people waiting. This meant a lot to me that they genuinely cared about their customers enough to rearrange the seating plans and be flexible to the change. Definitely going to share my experience with others and recommend Copacabana to my loved ones! Thank you so much for everything!
There were some awesome servers however others we had to wait very long for. We loved the food and will probably come back again. Thought the complimentary birthday dinner was awesome, thank you! We made a reso for a birthday dinner but had to wait way too long because the tables weren’t being bussed quickly enough.
Food was great. Service was meh. It was really unfortunate that our group was seated beside the exit and against the drafty front I window on a very cold day .. they were not able to move us even though we asked to be moved when we arrived and there were clearly other tables that were not yet occupied
Wow ..that was bad. Poor service from the start. Hostess drinking Starbucks when we entered, won't put it down waited a few minutes. Then walked to our tables. Our seats on the chairs worn badly, napkins under tables to address the wobbles. Waitress made a whole 3 visits.
The meat was good, seem to the be the same old meat rotating. Mash potatoes are from powder i am sure. Listen to the same song over and over. The waitresses are young people who clearly need to be schooled in proper dining services.
You always bring drinks on a tray, not by hand, you serve food on trays not by hand, don't be so snobby to your clients. I felt like i was at a fast food joint, excepting i forking out 50 dollars a head. Anyhow finally got the bill, it was tossed on the table again no tray and handed to my 15 old son. I forked out 250 dollars, and left while leaving not as much as a glance from the hostess. This place needs to go to the KEG and see how to serve your customers.
Finally i recommend the Rodeo on the Danforth for a true Brazilian experience not this joke.
I will not be going back ever.
I was not too pleased with my experience. We had made a reservation for 10 people for 9:30 3 weeks prior. When we got there exactly at 9:30, the hostess told us our table would be ready "soon." We waited 30 minutes before I asked again when it would be ready to which she responded with another "soon". 5 more minutes passed before we finally got seated. When we did, we were seated at the back where all entertainment was blocked by the wall that came out beside our table, so we didn't get to see any dancing.
The food was good, but for the price my party of 9 and me should not have had to wait 35 minutes for a table after making a reservation.
For a restaurant that many call up scale, the service is atrocious. Not only was my reservation messed up but it took them 40 minutes to seat me and my date. For this inconvenience, the hostess "claimed" we would get a large discount. At the end of the night, we found out that we would not be getting said discount and were offered a measly 10% off for our wait. I wasn't overboard upset until the manager came over and threw the hostess under the bus, blaming her for our bad night and not taking responsibility herself. No apology, no standing by her employees. Very bad experience, would rather have gone to the keg.
Party of 6 came for birthday celebration. Experienced awful service! We got the worst seating in the restaurant right on the entrance, behind the dancers/singer, so we were facing dancer’s budds! It was also really cold, as people were going back and forth. No waiting area at all, so people are standing just behind your back waiting until you leave, so that they can get your spot. Food was good, no complaints.
Would never come back!
our waitress, Taylor, was superb. she was professional, kind, smart and friendly. However, in general, the restaurant set up was implying that we shall finish and leave as soon as possible which is not so pleasant when you get-together with friends. The live music was too load for that space.
Our experience the Copacabana on Eglinton was disappointing in comparison to the experience we had last year at the Copacabana restaurant on Adelaide. The service was not as good, food selection was not at good and table set-up was just not comfortable. We kept getting served the same 2 meat items over and over and had to keep asking for others. Food still tasted great though
We have been before, and like it a lot, we also went to other locations (Adelaide), but prefer this one for its style. Service was smart they accommodated us well as we have a small child, but then the offers became repetitive and not something we would like. Then, altogether they kind of stopped coming around, where we could have used a bit more service.
We were late for our reservation and it could have been a timing issue, but not bad overall.
The food and service were great. Ample amount of meat if you're a carnivore and a great selection of salads and other options at the buffet counters. Grilled pineapple and deep fried bananas were great options to finish the night. The garlic prime rib and bacon-wrapped beef were my favourites of the night. Definitely recommend this to anyone that loves meat, meat, and more meat. we
Had a reservation at 7:30 on Thursday, arrived at 7:50 due to traffic (an hour drive) and the hostess told us that because we're late they gave the table away and we have to wait like everyone else for approximately half an hour. Half an hour later when we went in, we received 2 or 3 different meats and were waiting for along time to get more. When the server came along to ask us if we've received everything we wanted, we told him we didn't and that we only received 2 or 3 items. He kept trying to convince us that he himself came and gave us more lots more items, which didn't happen. It's an open buffet type of place... why are we arguing about whether or not I received an item? If you, as a server, think we got more than we said we did, just get us more where's the harm? We ended up getting everything we wanted but not before feeling like we're fighting to get in, get food and service. Horrible experience overall! I've been there several times and this is the first time this happened
Mediocre food quality. Meat taste destructed with addition of cheese. Assuming meat to be the signature food the quality is not very good. Salads are ok. Bread is fresh and very good. Wine card very restricted. Ideal for people who like all you can eat North American style with not too high expectations on the taste. Service is ok very friendly.
The meats were delicious and the carvers were very friendly. The server couldn't care less to be there and the mixed drinks were obviously watered down. The "buffet" was sad and it was also obvious that the food had been sitting there for awhile even though dinner service had just started; I assume it was leftovers from their lunch service. The "hot" food was cold and not edible.
Love the service, seated quickly. Chairs and decor slightly rundown but the food and service made up for it! The comfort foods in buffet could have more variance in textures (mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, lasagna, mac and cheese). And Caesar salad could have been a bit fresher tastier. Service was off the charts !
