Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouse - Adelaide (Downtown) Ratings and Reviews
The staff needs to learn how to smile a bit. Everything else at this place is great. I have been here several times. Finally decided to leave a message because the negative attitude is very consistent. More than the servers, it’s the front desk. When I’m talking to you, look at me. Do NOT look at your computer.
I stated in my reservation that it was my momther’s birthday and requested we be seated where we could watch the entertainment, because it was her first time. Instead, the 3 of us were seated at a table that fit 6 in the most secluded corner blocked by the stair wall where we saw nothing of the dancers.
The air conditioning was also so high (in the middle of January) that our food ran cold after a couple of minutes at the table. Music was blaring the whole which made conversation impossible, especially being at such a large table.
It was an overall disappointing evening.
Only complaint was our server had a misunderstanding with my guest.. and from there it felt like the night could never recover... I just felt like it shouldve been let go... but instead I felt like he was trying to teach my guest a lesson that was uncalled for
I booked a reservation 2 weeks in advance. I hoped by doing that, that I would have a good seat. My seat was awful. It was disappointing because I was there celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. We were seated on the second floor right next to the windows. They told us that either we stay where we were seated or we wait till 10:30pm (3 hours) for another table to open up. It was freezing outside and the windows had gaps in them which sent waves of cold air constantly at us. The heaters above us were off and the waitress told us that they get these complaints all of the time. If its all of the time, why are you still seating people there? Why are you not doing something about it? I had to eat my dinner in my coat, scarf and mittens. I will never be returning to that location. I would rather drive to Niagara Falls because they actually provide heat for their customers.
My family (group of 12) came for MY birthday and felt very rushed to eat our dinner. We had brought a cake and mid dinner as people were still eating (myself included) the waiters brought out my cake (as if trying to rush us to leave). THEN the show came on and the meats were on pause during this period (which cut into our reservation time) We understand the reservation time limit but found the service to be extremely unprofessional, especially when dealing with a party of 12 people who are willing to give you business. I wanted to continue eating after the hault due to the show, but was restricted to do so by management/waiting staff. I did not feel comfortable nor did I or my 11 other family members enjoy this "experience". This was my third visit to this location in general, but my first encounter with extreme unprofessionalism. I left hungry, and dissatisfied. Better off sticking to this place for dates, highly DO NOT recommend parties of more than 4 people as you will receive poor service.
Food was great although the service needs improvement in 2 areas:
- Servers were indicated to not offer more food, yet servers continued to bring it. When servers were indicated to bring more food, nothing was brought for over 20 minutes.
- For the first 90 minutes the same food was brought over repeatedly, but right when I paid the cheque, new selections on the menu became available, which should have been available earlier.
They never seize to amaze with regards to quality of the food and service. We celebrated my wife's Birthday in their Adelaide branch on Saturday and everything was top notch. And for the icing on the cake they did not charge my wife since it was her Birthday and we never knew this beforehand so what a nice Surprise. Will go back there soon.
At the beginning the service was excellent. After about 20-30 minutes and ordering a pitcher of sangria the food stopped coming and the service staff continued to ask us if we wanted anything else specific. Obviously we wanted to continue eating as we were still sitting there waiting for the food with half a pitcher left and had not even thought about asking for the bill. However food barely came to the table, and we felt as though the staff was trying to push us out! This ruined the entire experience as the price is not cheap therefore we do not appreciate being rushed/ leaving unsatisfied.
I went to Copacabana for the first time recently and had a great experience. The food and service was excellent - a lot of food and all of it was delicious. The only down side was we were seated near the glass windows and there was a terrible cold draft coming from them. We didn't bother asking for another seat because the place was packed but they should really look into that issue so others don't have the same problem.
We were very disappointed by our dinner at Copacabana. We are visiting from the NWT and I made this reservation over 1 month ago, despite this we got a very small table right in the middle of a walkway so it was incredible disruptive. When I politely asked to switch tables to a 2-top away from passerby elbows we were told that it was needed to accommodate a large group... but a couple was sat there 5 minutes later.
We found the service to be dismissive and rude and our cocktails were awful. We spent 45 minutes picking at cold meat and paid $180. Very disappointed as it was our first meal in Toronto and we were only visiting for the weekend.
This was my first time to this location. I've been to the Yonge & Eglinton one and really enjoyed their combination of live music with great food. My experience at the Adelaide location wasn't as pleasant, despite the great food, per the below reasons:
- It took a while to be seated despite having a reservation
- it was too warm in the restaurant - this needs to be adjusted for comfort when it's milder outside and you have a full venue
- the drink server never smiled, she wasn't pleasant when taking our order, and took forever to get back to us and then rushed away in the middle of trying to order drinks
- we waited way too long for meat servers to come back to our table and in fact, they clearly ignored our table multiple times making me have to flag them down more than once (clearly they're doing this purposely to control amount of food at tables however we are there as paying customers and it comes across as bad service and doesn't go un-noticed)
The food was still delicious and I'll definitely go back - but likely to the Yonge & Eglinton location as the service is better.
this is my 4th year inviting my friends as a holiday gift to dinner there, usually we have a great experience. but the problem is how the service works, i asked for a specific cut to have again and that did not happen, they serve you very well in the beginning because it was not busy. its not right to only have good service in the beginning of your meal. we had a similar dropping of service the first time but after a chat with amazing manager at the time all changed. it should not be this way that the quality of the service is based on the amount of people or a talk to the manager, not sure i will keep this tradition due to this issue.
Copacobana is highly overrated. The two-hour time limit is ridiculous and makes customers feel rushed. If you are trying to save money by not serving too much steak, then don't open up a restaurant that is all you can eat. Further, the fact that meat servers are constantly coming around shoving the proteins in your face before you even get to finish the previous portion is annoying. FYI, the blue and red cards don't work - nobody even uses it. $55 for this place? I'd much rather pay a premium elsewhere, where I feel appreciated as a customer.
At my daughters request, I booked Copa Cabana for her 20th birthday. We arrived a bit early and had to wait short while for our seat. The table was set up near the buffet and we had a unobstructed view of the live entertainment. As soon as we were seated the waitress arrived to take our drink order and the explain the menu. The buffet had a variety fresh salads, breads and other starter items. Not long after we all visited the buffet there was a almost constant stream of waiters with a variety of bbq meat, chicken, fish and at the end pineapple, all hot off the grill and delicious. The meal ended with the waitress bringing a special birthday desert for my daughter, the rest of us were too full for anything more than coffee. Overall it was an absolutely wonderful experience and if I would have only one criticism it would be the level of sound after the live performances, it was difficult to chat during the meal. I will definitely be going back.
it was so-so, overpriced and over salted, but we left full so that's a bonus. i wish they had had more options from the cold bar. also we had a 10 y/o with us, were charged the full adult $50 price, and when i questioned the kids age thing the hostess looked skeptical when i said she was only 10. all the guys coming around always gave her a half portion yet the hostess clearly had a problem with it.
The price per person is expensive, so we only come on special occasions.
Another thing, I am vegetarian and the price for a person, when you are vegetarian (mypartner is not...) and can't eat all the meat , which is supposed to be the reason for the expensive price is exaggerated in my opinion.
Service upstairs was horrible, we had been sitting for a very long time and not one server came to our table. There were 3 of them hanging out at the bar watching the tv and chatting with the bartender. Eventually we got up, took our stuff with us and found a manager who sat us down stairs where the service was better. We will not be going back to this location because this experience was so uncomfortable.
We were a group of 5 and we had a good time, the Food / Entertainment was great!
Our only issue was our seating, we were at the top level of the resturant at the back right next to the bar- so it was a bit secluded. If anything happened we would have to get up and look which kinda sucked because it was a Saturday night and the place was packed and booming - music was great also!
The food , the food, the food - great!
I've been to the Adelaide location three times now and my third time was quite disappointing. The service was awful. My friends and I were seated in a corner booth and repeatedly saw servers look at our table and skip us (even with our little blue "Sim" sign facing up). It became very frustrating as there is a 2 hour limit per table and we were constantly being skipped. The prices are not cheap so we expected way better and equal service. I'm quite saddened by the experience because we were all really looking forward to coming to Copa Cabana. It was my friend's first time too! Not a great first impression for him. I feel sad thinking about this. :(
My husband and I hadn't had a night away from our 4 children in over a year. I was looking for a special way to spend our evening and This did not disappoint. This was an amazing experience! The food was incredible. The show was memorizing. The service was great. I definitely recommend this for a special occasion.
I find that service of meat was way "too rushed". We didn't feel calm and comfortable dining because servers seem to be so rushing all the time. Like we had to hurry to ask for things. We waited for plates and chair for a long time to a point that my brother ate standing. He did this in hope that someone will notice him and would bring a chair. Well, it worked! One wait staff saw him and brought a chair. The spot we got was somewhat tight.
The other bad thing is - it was WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!!
One positive thing is, the food was very good. BUT, still not enough reason to be charging $57 per person for... In which btw, the website said $50 pp for weekdays, $57 on weekends. It was on a Tuesday when we ate there and they charged us $57 each (basically $50 difference for 7 people). I realized after, called, said someone will call me back to fix the situation but no one has called back yet. Hopefully someone will.
Overall, I think the food is good but it's not worth the high cost.
