Server TingTing amiable and efficient. Chef came to table to ask if we enjoyed new menu. Scallops excellent. Portions generous.
Pre-show meal. Wasn’t easy to tell from the site that this was in a hotel. There were some loud parties and only one wait-person for the whole floor. The food was very tasty, however.
Large portions. My short rib was tough. The garlic grits weren’t completely cooked and weren’t garlicky. Grits were actually crunchy. Food was presented nicely. Waiter and greet staff were fantastic
Delicious meal. Sweet hostess, but otherwise service was mostly MIA.
Wonderful "breakfast buffet." Nice selection with fresh fruit, omelets to order, both chicken they explained that they can't get them any longer (we had no idea they were not made in house) but they were still trying as so many people have been asking. For comment sake only, I would have liked to see eggs benedict on the buffet. You can order them off the menu, however. Ordered mimosas as well - nicely served with a strawberry. Made for a festive Easter Sunday brunch that didn't include the "kitchen sink" as so many do with what I call "dinner selections." I realize some people like all that, however. We'll be back - probably for Mother's Day now that we've discovered Coopers Mill.
Birthday dinner before concert
We were disappointed that no one seated us, so I assume we were a "no show" for our reservation. 20 min elapsed before the server came to our table. As a Marriott titanium member, I expect more. When we were finally acknowledged, the service was good as was the food.
The manager was excellent. The crab cake sandwich was outstanding. The french fried potatoes were too spicy.
An unexpected gem at a hotel! The ambiance was pleasant, the service was excellent and the menu is unexpectedly creative. We tried the app sampler, which was great, and several menu items- all tasty. The chef is to be commanded for coming up with creative dishes that are simple and superb. We will definitely be back and soon! Must try the Sunday brunch next!
Very disappointed by the gnats in the restaurant. Very atypical for Marriott.
The staff at Cooper's Mill is excellent. Very friendly and knowledgeable about their offerings. The food is great, too!
Had a brunch for a friend - the food was fantastic the dishes were amazing, the coffee was brewed perfectly and the service was excellent.
This is a restaurant in a Marriott hotel. Most hotel restaurants are function over form. This is actually quite a nice place. If it was a stand alone restaurant, it would be a nice place to eat as well. The convenience of it while staying at the hotel was very nice. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there once over the course of a 48 hour stay. We could have driven for something cheaper, and I would have if the food wasn’t as good as it was. The servings were generous. The food was creative. The service was more attentive at dinner and breakfast than it was at lunch. The manager was friendly and honest.
If the cost were lower, this would be a great restaurant. Great service, decent and interesting food options, nice ambiance. However, for the price, none of that seems to be enough. I think they monopolize on being the only restaurant in the area.
Was a good choice if staying at hotel or living nearby. Not sure I would go directly to this restaurant more than once, unless meeting someone nearby or at hotel. We had a coupon, so we took advantage of seeing how the place was. Food was very good, presented nicely and good service. Although it is nice to know that a good restaurant is nearby.
Coopers mill has great service and food is fresh and flavorful. We had the buffet and it was fantastic. Elizabeth was a wonderful server. So friendly!
The host was a sweetheart and the server has very attentive. Went for granny's birthday and she loved it. The salads were huge, the scallops were perfectly cooked and everything was well seasoned.
Surprisingly expensive for what is, essentially, hotel food. 3 for brunch at $40 each, and the bloody was $10 each additional. Some of the items were pretty good (the little crab cakes a cut above most of this type), but you'd have to be a glutton to eat $40 worth of food ... or even close. Aside from those crab bits, and a less successful attempt at eggs benedict with crab and or smoked salmon, there were no particularly 'upscale' items on offer. Oddly, the entrees were similarly priced, and make have been the better deal.
A very innovative and fresh menu. Well prepared and presented. Coupled with good service. What else can you ask for in a restaurant?
Would not do it again
Server took forever to do everything. Waited forever to see him after sitting down. Didn't actually know what he was talking about when it came to the wine list. Took forever to bring us to go boxes. Took forever to bring the check - he actually waved us goodbye when we got up to get the check from the receptionist since we hadn't seen him for a long time. In addition, I tried to wave down what seemed like the manager and she didn't even notice me or the fact that our server was obviously overwhelmed and didn't know how to handle the situation. There was another more attentive server who helped us out from time to time so if you get her, I think your experience would have been better than ours.
Extremely high noice level. Really liked the food, service and decor, however, unlikely to dine here again due to the noice level.
We were in town for a conference.
Everything was amazing!!!
I am so happy a friend told me about Coopers Mill. They have a dinner menu served until midnight everynight!! I am always looking for full menu options in the Rockville-Bethesda area since I work late and now theres a spot that I know will have their kitchen open late. My coworker and I tried the Ny strip, crispy rockfish, and had the mushroom & arugula flatbread and jumbo lump crab bites to start. Everything was great!! The crab bites were literally all jumbo lump crab stuffed inside a golden brown crust. DELICIOUSS.
Your basic hotel restaurant for those trapped at the Pooks Hill Marriott--which is not close to the great restaurants in DT Bethesda. Our waitress was terrific. I ordered a quinoa burger. It was mushy & tasteless, and fell apart when I tried to eat it. Not a good choice. Hopefully the other menu choices were better than that......
THIS PLACE IS IN A HOTEL! It is completely unclear from the profile description that this is a random hotel restaurant. Totally overpriced, HORRIBLE inattentive service, and gross food. Spent $200 on a disgusting dinner for my family bc we didn’t have the energy to find an alternative once we pulled up & so decided to give it a chance. Nasty food. I feel sick just thinking about it. Open Table needs to work on the description so ppl know what they are getting in to. Might as well have been in Dayton, OH. SUPER random experience!
We went here for Bethesda RW and did not realize until we arrived that it is a hotel restaurant. Dead inside, even during RW, with sports on tv and waiters idly sitting around. Food was mediocre.
The review was based on two breakfast meals. Finding a decent Breakfast (not Brunch) in the DC area is difficult with the exception of a few places which are more hype than real and want to convince you that all the food is fresh from the farm and locally grown. How does that work with sub freezing weather 5 months a year? Legit breakfast places are so rare you could get to lunch before you find one (Fast food places excluded). Breakfast doesn't even appear on OpenTable's list of 51 choice categories. Coopers Mill at the Pooks Hill Marriott in North Bethesda (South Rockville) was a pleasant surprise and relaxing with friendly, attentive service and a wide variety of choices . A welcome respite from the rest of the diminishing real breakfast establishments.
Great food and service! I wish this restaurant was in a neighborhood, rather than being attached to a hotel. If not for that, it would be a 10! But if you don't care much for a 'scene' - this is a great place. Food was delicious and the service was excellent.
The restaurant is basically the lobby bar of the Marriott hotel at Pooks Hill in Bethesda. I found it on Open Table and liked the menu so I thought we would try it for Christmas Eve dinner. It was a somewhat special occasion, but I also wasn't expecting a fancy downtown restaurant. I was NOT expecting to sit in an extremely brightly lit bar with football on tv and not one holiday decoration to be seen. (To be fair, there were children's gingerbread houses in the lobby, but there was nothing in the restaurant.) The music playing was something modern and edgy, which I don't mind in a bar, but I do mind while eating Christmas dinner. One of my pet peeves is an empty restaurant with un-bussed tables and being sat next to the only other occupied table, yet that's exactly what happened. To be fair, the food and cocktails were really good. I just wish they acted like it was Christmas Eve instead of a random weeknight.
My favorite weekend Brunch! Scrumptious buffet with so many delicious choices.
This was our first time at Coopers Mill Restaurant. The food was superb, including very creative salads, to which we added seafood and soup. The service was very good. Our server was very attentive to our needs. The wine list was very good, including the different sizes of glasses
( 3 oz., 6 oz., half carafe, or bottle). The server told us that they will change to a fall menu in 3 weeks, and we definitely intend to return.
Good variety on the menu but the mussels were very small, the Caesar salad was soaked with dressing and the fries were cold. The meal took a while to come out. Additionally, our server disappeared while looking for a candle to put on my daughters dessert. She was gone at least 20 minutes doing her search. She simply could have told us she was looking for it but we needed to ask other servers where she was. Only after we complained to the manager did they bring out a new bill with the dessert removed.
I thought the menu was very creative but I was disappointed with my steak - very "grisly", a lot of fat and tough as well as a bit overcooked. I think the prices, while comparable to other restaurant hotels, was very pricey. Seating was not very intimate or comfortable. Staff was very pleasant and friendly. The Taharka' ice cream and bread pudding were fantastic!
This place is in a hotel lobby.
Barely passable appetizers. Average soup and salad. Unappealing decor.
Booked Cooper's Mill for Mother's Day brunch. It has nice decor inside the Marriott hotel.
The place is pretty noisy so if you are planning to have quiet conversation this isn't the place to go. It has nice decor with a modern, open air feel. However the openness also leads to high volume. It got quieter after about 1 pm when the main crowd got smaller.
Appetizers were very good. We had the cornbread, tator tot sampler, and mussels. All pretty good. We decided to pass on the brunch and select from the menu. Lunch was very good with relatively large portions. Good burger and sandwiches. Crab cake sandwich was decent, but not great. Char fish was very tasty with vegetables on the side.
Overall a nice place with good food and ambiance.
We went there for Mother's Day brunch. I expected it to be amazing like the last time, with awesome breakfast items, lunch items, and desserts. Huge disappointment with ONLY basic breakfast. Had invited sister too! HUGE disappointment!!!!
Grace was fabulous. The environment was lovely. The food did not meet our standards. The food was not served hot and the drinks were disappointing.
