Cooper's Mill Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant was surprisingly good. Wasn't sure once we realized it was inside the Marriott hotel, but ended up being really delicious food. Nice looking bar. Ambiance by the dining tables was just so so, maybe dim the lights and get some candles. But by far, the best thing was our waiter Dragon! So friendly, knowledgeable and made spot on recommendations. I would def go back.
Mediocre at best. This restaurant got some pretty good reviews, so we decided to try it. I didn't initially realize it was in a Marriott Hotel, which doesn't bode well much of the time. The food was only OK. I had the mixed salad, and the dressing was pretty tasteless. Then had the swordfish special. The swordfish was done well, but the accompaniments looked like they had been pre-plated on the plate.
I am a big albarino wine person, so was excited that they actually had one by the glass. When it came out, it looked much darker than any albarino I'd ever seen, and it tasted "off." I sent it back (that has NEVER happened to me with an albarino before).
The waiter was very good but looked to be overworked. And our main courses came out even before we were finished our salads. We were not in the restaurant an hour!
We will not be back.
The food was good and the portions exceptionally generous. Menu had some interesting items and we ordered fried avocado which the three of us shared.
French fries were very good, too. Crab cakes were on the bland side as was the sauce.
Location is convenient to I-287 and I-87. We came from CT and NJ to meet for lunch.
It took a very long time to get our food, and when it arrived it was cold. I think it must have sat out quite awhile, as others were being served who arrived after us. The menu offered a variety of interesting options. I had the filet mignon, and once it was regeated, it was very good, but the reheating burned the potatoes. The wine was fine, and they had some good ziPA beers on draft.
I have eaten here many times and my wife and I always order the grilled octopus appetizer We ordered it without looking at the menu, telling the waiter we always order it and it is the best of any restaurant in the area which has it. We were completely disappointed when it arrived It was not grilled but cold and had at best a third of the portion size .When we told the waiter he said the menu changed about a month ago As we mentioned our prior experience we should have been told before We happened to overhear a waitress at a nearby table advising patrons she recognized of certain menu changes
Another item to be aware of as it has happened more than once Check the bill as the prices are sometimes higher than the menu price
As usual the entrees were excellent
The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely but the food is mediocre considering the high prices and the service was very slow. We waited 15 minutes for a server to come by and the only speedy service was getting the bill. We ordered burgers, mussels, and prime rib. The burgers were undercooked to order, the mussels weren't fresh.
I was looking for a restaurant for lunch and found this place through groupon. Paying $36 for a $70 voucher was a really good deal. Service could be better. It was hard to find a server around that could help us once we sat down, had to wait for 10 mins before our server realized we were there even though the place wasn't that busy. After she noticed us the rest of the experience kinda got better, food was really good for the value. Salmon was cooked just cooked just how I want it, pork bellies served with aioli was also really good.
We came to see old friends of my mothers that were in town for a wedding. My mom and the friends are in their 80 s the bar had a business event and had a huge crowd of noisy people . While I understand a bar is indeed a place for socializing the eighty year old were sat right near this large party They hadn't seen each other in a long time but I knew they simply could not hear each other. . I asked for a different Table but was told that was simlpy Not possible Then the Waiter came and I asked her if we could have a different table and she said "what?" Twice. She herself couldn't hear us !!!!! The gentleman we where with then went back up to the entrance and asked the same fellow. For a diff end table that I myself had asked he happened to be the father of the groom. All staying at the hotel. We were then finally all moved to a quiet area . Now. Was this manager only willing to move us because a man now asked? This would be blatantly sexist!!!! Or because they were the parents of the groom staying at the hotel ? Still unfair. I was totally put off. Now the food. Fair at best. Watercress salad. Horrible. Large thick stems. That should have benn cut off. Flavorless I had to dig and search for the cheese that was supposed to be in it. I found a trace at the bottom. The fish very overlooked dry and flavorless. . I would not return. The wine was goo and my husbands ceased salad was good. The scallops and meat platter were also good. But not really a reason to,return.
This is our second time back to Cooper's Mill, and it didn't disappoint. Our family of 4 dined with another family of 4, and there was something on the menu for everyone. The vast selection of apps was a standout with the pork belly and octopus being the stars.
Everyone's dinner was prepared and presented perfectly with my chop, and my wife's steak cooked to the requested temperature.
I can't write this review without complimenting the service. Spot on to ever detail requested And yes, I am one of those people that want my water glass filled, and it never went dry at Cooper's Mill.
The last word, don't let the location fool you being in a hotel, there is quality craft food coming out of this spot, and we are excited to get back soon.
Meeting a friend for lunch and a long over do catch up. We arrived early and were seated at booth which was a bit more quiet when the dining room started to fill up quickly a short time later. The service was welcoming, helpful and attentive, but we never felt rushed. The food was well prepared and attractively served. Will be back.
