Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Richmond
Starting off at the beginning. There was no clear path to the hostess to checkin for our reservation. The noise level was very high and the hostess was very soft-spoken. This being our first time here, and already not knowing where to go, made us feel like we weren’t sure what to do. There isn’t much seating space unless you want to do wine tastings at their bar first. The wait staff when the come to sit have to travel to find you, when there should be a text notification or buzzer of some sort.
The restaurant was very loud and lively, not really what we wanted for a date night away from our daughter.
The service was very nice, but infrequent.
Very great wine selection, and the waitress could answer any questions that we had about the wine or food.
Overall, it was a meal. But not one I’d come back for.
Great as always.
We love coming here! Great people and service. Food comes out in a timely manner and the managers always check in to make sure everything has gone well.
Food and wine were very good. All seems to also be well-priced and overall a good value. The noise level, however, was completely deafening. 6:30pm dinner reservation. Difficult to even hear diner sitting next to me at table. Our group of four carried-on and took the inability to hear one another in stride, but I think that for many other diners, especially those who are 60+, it may definitely be a deal-breaker.
Service was great.
Food was ok. One entree plate was not what description in the menu.
Great experience as always!
Always a good place to go for a taste and or dinner.
We had a great time and will be back. The calamari seems different the past two visits so will take a break. We use to rave about it to others but I wouldn’t anymore. The rings use to be bigger, possibly a batter change and less sweet chili sauce. Love the cooper hawk white as our wine choice.
The food and service were outstanding, however the noise level was so high that my boyfriend and I couldn't conversate with each other without raising our voices.
Starting at the front door my wife and I were greeted warmly. As we waited to be seated we collected our monthly bottles of wine and was even offered the option of storing them at the front desk. Our waitress was friendly and fun adding to our anniversary dinner event. We enjoyed every moment of our time here including the view, staff, food and wine. Thank you for making our 7th Wedding Anniversary one of our most memorable. Btw... three days later and I am just leaving the food coma from the cuisine.
Usually love our visits, but too crowded and service not too good at tasting bar or at dinner. Food came all out of order and big gaps between waiter visits. Did not feel the ambassador love. Hopefully will be better next time.
We had dinner reservations at 5:15pm and we were early at 5:05pm. Our waitress was friendly, but not as informative as we would have liked. She had to be probed for answers about the special on the menue and did not explain the portion sizes of the appetizers well, prior to ordering. The wine was good and we a glass each. We noticed that, people were coming in after us and getting there main course of food served. Ultimately, she forgot us, after our salads were delivered and we had to ask "Where is our entree?"' an hour later at 6:15pm. We recieved an apology and a bottle of wine from the manager. However, we had to pay for our garden salads, box our dinner and leave, because it was 6:35pm. The rest of our date night would have been ruined, if we missed seating for the comedy show, starting at 7pm. (Happy 27th Anniversary) not.
Seems the server had too many tables to give good service. She was very nice but not efficient.
The food as fantastic. The bread was good. Did not have enough clean sharpe knives at the time when brought the bread. Had to use regular table knife.
Waitress was not the usual helpful
Service use to at Cooper Hawk. By the end of the meal a little better.
The noise was so loud you had to lean across the table to hear. Hope to sit outside in cooler weather. Assume not as noise there.
Because of past visits would still recommend.
One of our favorites. Food is amazing. Wine is great
The food, service, and overall experience are ALWAYS wonderful.
Cooper's Hawk was a great place to celebrate our anniversary! The food and drinks were great and our server was FABULOUS!!!! The only thing that would have made it better would be a more private table. Where we sat was sort of like a cafeteria room.
I requested a quiet table for 2 for a celebration. Not only did we have to wait 20 minutes to be seated (after having a reservation) but the hostess seated us beside a large table of 15. The noise level was such that at times, we could not hear one another. I am very disappointed. Per usual, our waitress was excellent and the food was good.
It was amazing the food was amazing it's such a nice place the waitress was a little slow but she had a great attitude she was very nice my husband had a great time and he also loved the food and he's a very picky eater
Great service food good wine sangria wonderful love this wine bar!!!!
Service was poor. Party of 4 and food came at different times, drinks were forgotten, had to ask waiter. Quality of food was good, when it arrived. Problem with one special order, several supervisors came by to apologize, no adjustment to bill.
Another great experience. We’re big fans of the Viognier, so we ordered a bottle. We started with the Mexican shrimp appetizer. I then ordered the halibut (chef’s special) and my husband ordered the pork chops. Everything was fabulous! We’ll be back!
Always a fun experience. Food is good and consistent. Our previous visit the wait staff was not very good, this time was wonderful. As wine club members we would love to be able to take advantage of the wine tastings, but the area is so crowded every time, we usually choose to skip it.
Food was fine but the service killed the experience. Our server brought our drinks, took our orders, and never came back to the table until we were half way thru entrees. She only had 4 tables. At a restaurant with a 5 page drink and wine menu, you would expect the server to stop by to ask about drink refills at least a few times. Instead, we went thru appetizers and most of the entree, had empty glasses on edge of table before someone else finally asked if we wanted another drink. To top off the bad service, she brought our bill before the dessert was even served...like we were going to pay for food we hadn't yet received. Very tacky. Besides the service, the food was fine, but not great. Undercooked roasted fall veggies seemed out of place and heavy for early August. Really wanted to like the place, but it will be a while before we try it again.
Great service Gabrielle was very nice and attentive. Food was excellent too.
Not bad. Very average. Fries came out cold.
Great food and service. Can’t wait to go back. Make reservations or you will wait 2 hours for a table.
We love Cooper’s hawk. We are wine club members and have never had a bad meal there!
Super busy, crowded and so loud you could not hear the person sitting next to you. The high ceilings do not help; some sort of noise damping or cancelling system needs to be installed. It was so loud the waitress had trouble taking our order. Did not receive one (brussels sprouts) of the two appetizers we ordered, our dessert was covered to make up for it. Everyone enjoyed the food we did receive. My mother wanted to take home a bottle of wine she had with her meal but was denied the ability to buy it because none of us are a member of their wine club, weird. I took my parent's here last night for their 44th anniversary because my mom wanted to go. We will go somewhere else for their 45th anniversary.
One of the noisiest restaurants I've been. Can't even hear yourself talk. Other than that it was great.
Good food and friendly service adds up to a nice dining experience! Despite a bit of noise due to the Thursday night crowd, we really enjoyed our mini birthday celebration! We were also impressed that our server noticed that we were celebrating a birthday and brought over a complimentary birthday dessert! Small touches like that mean a lot!
Cooper's Hawk-Richmond has quickly become one of my favorite places to go. The food & wine is amazing, and the prices on the food is fair & competitive. Service is always outstanding too.
Much better service than 2 times before. Food was very good. Had to ask another waiter to check on our drinks, but once we got them, they were delicious. Restaurant was very good about moving us to an outdoor table. We were a little rushed as our waiter corked our bottle before my husband was finished, but worked out well, because I hadn't finished my glass, and we got home almost in time for debates. Thanks.
Food was good but kitchen was off tonight and restaurant was way too loud!
It is very noisy in the dining room and the bar. The service is good as is the food. The wine is very good. If there was a way to lower the noise, it would be a much more enjoyable experience.
We usually love coopers hawk. Sunday, however, we went for my birthday. I am pregnant and could not drink. After we said we were not ordering wine, we were promptly ignored by our waiter all night. It took 1.5 hours to get our food and we didn't get bread until after our food came. Additionally one member of our group had the wrong item come and had to wait another 30 mins for his food. It was ridiculous. As we are nice people, we still tipped our waiter well, but I am very disappointed in the decline in service.
Great place for a date or a special celebration!
The food and wine were very good and reasonably priced. The service was fine. But the noise level was such that we will probably not go back. Because of the noise level, I would be reluctant to recommend Cooper's Hawk to anyone wishing to have a meal that includes conversation with dining partner(s).
The Short Pump location was not as good as the one in Virginia Beach. Service was slow. They were out of several menu items.
Amanda was an amazing server. The food was amazing and the ambiance was good.
