Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Merrillville Ratings and Reviews
Great lobster bisque!! I start off with that and salad every time... Paired with a glass of sweet red. Perfect night to catch up with friends... service is always good for how busy they are. Bread is always served warm, and food is always fresh and hot.
This place is usually really lively= meaning it gets pretty loud. I wouldn’t recommend coming here with someone you didn’t already know (like a first /second date, or business deal)
Other than that they’re great!
Recommend the chefs special squash/lobster ravioli when available, crab and lobster bisque soup, sweet red wine, and their peach sangria! Delish.
The restaurant was way too loud. Our server came back to say that they were out of the short rib risotto which I find hard to believe, how do you run out of risotto?
We had to switch tables in order to even hear each other talk.
There was one member in our party where he forgot to bring her wine and it took over 20 minutes after our appetizers were already gone to get her wine.
Only issue I had is I requested a booth with my reservation request, so instead of getting one we were seated at a small table tucked away in a far dark corner with not much room. There were 6 booths open and when I asked if we can get one I was told they were all reserved. We had my wife’s parents with us and a booth would have been more comfortable for them. How do you reserve a booth? Would like to know for our next visit with them.
Beautiful place. Had Thanksgiving dinner there 2017. We ordered the crab beignet appetizer and it was great! Wife had the turkey dinner...excellent. I had the filet. I rarely eat steak as I am a steak snob. The $33 price had me worried as that is not very expensive for a good steak. Sadly, it was just ok. Similar to Outback. We dont drink, so no wine. Others have told me they have excellent wine selections. I will definitely go back....just no steak :)
This restaurant is just to loud. When it is crowded, you almost have to yell to have a conversation. Some sort of sound panels would help this space. Also had an issue with our drinks. We were offered a different drink, also marginal. Ended up having to pay for all the drinks with no discount.
I will agree that the food is excellent but the noise level is just to loud to go for a nice evening out. I have learned my lesson not to order from the bar. Just stick to the wine.
Easily scheduled a lunch reservation on Open Table. Was seated quickly and greeted kindly. We asked if we were celebrating a special occasion.
We were offered to taste some wine choices. Very friendly staff and quick service. Food was exceptional, we ordered off the lunch menu.
We will stop there again.
We had reservations and were seated soon after we arrived. While we waited for our table we had n opportunity to taste the wine of the month. We also had a good server. Her only problem was opening our wine. But the food was good as usual and we enjoyed our evening.
