Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Kansas City
Birthday dinner. Food was excellent; however our entrees were served only 2 minutes after our salads were served. It would have been a better experience if the entrees were served after we were done with our salads.
Food was great, however , I felt rushed as soon as I arrived. Reservation was for 930 . Our waiter asked if she can get me a bottle or something to eat since they were closing. I was not given any utensils and was reminded through out that we were the only ones there. If you don’t want customers at 930 don’t have Reservation at 930 available.
We live in Indianapolis and are members at the Cooper’s Hawk on 96th. Street and have been since it opened. In all that time we have never had a bad meal there. The food is very good and always well presented. The restaurant is always busy.
On Monday we were taking advantage of the double points event as we were driving through K.C. This is about he fourth time we have eaten here and whilst the food is good it is not as good as in Indianapolis.
The wine is really usually O.K. And never great. The Barrel Reserve which was good at first is never something we purchase any more. This month we like the Columbia Valley wine. We both love Barbera but the Paddy Moer was extremely poor and we did not like it at all!
I am a wine club member and eat at Cooper's Hawk frequently. Our last two experiences at dinner were so disappointing that it will take us a long time before we decide to give it a try again. First of all the noise level is almost unbearable. To yell across the table is unacceptable but you have to yell or the person you are dining with cannot hear you. This is only obvious at night and applies to both upstairs and the eating area in the bar downstair.
We dined there Tuesday night and the service was poor and French flies cold. We asked for hot flies and those never arrived. The Prime sandwich was tough, lots of gristle and fat. Three of us had this sandwich and all three commented about the tough texture and fattiness. So disappointing.
Cooper’s Hawk is always very enjoyable. The wines, food, and service are exceptional.
The experience was enjoyable. I met my cousin to do a wine tasting and we truly enjoyed the atmosphere and the wine selections for the “variety tasting”.
Our server was so great. She was swamped so she was super busy. But the manager woman who sat worked with us at the host stand was not kind or accommodating.
Katelyn is hands down the best waitress I’ve ever had there! Thank you!!
We love Charnay! She is wonderful and so accommodating! We always have great experiences at Cooper’s Hawk
One of our favorite restaurants! Great food and good value for the Plaza location
The food and wine was great and a good portion (not oversized but a comfortable amount). It did take a long time to get our food, so that’s why I marked only 4
Food is always excellent. Temp is always chilly. Waiter took excellent care and was very accomodating.
Food was very good and fresh. Service was prompt. Wine was good.
We started out with a wine tasting. It was very crowded so we waited for a spot at the round bar. Our server must have been on hos last leg of the shift as we had to ask him several times about the wine he had just poured. Ive been to several wineries so I was pretty dissappointed. I was wanting to join their membership but opted not to because of our experience.
We had reservations, checked in at the front desk 2 times during our tasting to make sure we didnt miss our time. Finally after a half hour after our reservations, we told them we have been waiting. They got us seated right away. Our server, Wes, was fantastic. I really appreciated his honestly and suggestions. He did not fail! Food was amazing! Loved the dining experience. Wine tasting needs a little more.
Terrible rest rooms. Filthy. Dust on ledges It was obvious from the order and dust that some areas have not been cleaned for some time. Poor ending to an otherwise great experience.
Food and server were very good!
The staff was incredible please tell management that I had a reservation issue and they solved it. Great experience
Short Rib Risotto is so rich, creamy and delicious.
One of the best restaurants in Kansas City! Very attentive to special dietary needs. They have an extensive gluten free menu, including desserts, and are knowledgeable about how to prepare food so that those with allergies or other medical issues can eat without fear of becoming ill. Their food is absolutely delicious! Every time we go we receive excellent food and service. Their wine is just the cherry on top that ties the whole experience together. It’s a wonderful place for anyone looking for a great meal.
Food was excellent but they must have been short handed help wise. Had to ask someone to find a bartender twice before we could order drinks. When are meals came to the table only 3 of 4 arrived. The 4th finally arrived 5 minutes later which was awkward for everyone at the table! Ordered dessert and waited 10-15 minutes for what i’m Sure was preface!
Excellent all around! Would highly recommend a visit 👌🏼
This is a nice restaurant, very interesting interior. Nice variety on the menu food was very good. The service was not on par with other similar restaurants in the area and price range. Had to wait a bit to get our dirty plates picked up and just too much time between when the waiter checked on us. Other than that it was a pleasant experience, we would go back.
Wine tasting was fun— Tracy was great!! Food was very good!!!
Happy Hour is a great time to arrive and purchase drinks. The passion fruit sangria was excellent! Our food was very good! Our server did her best, but the kitchen was very slow on this Labor Day Monday. I felt badly for our server because it seemed that they were short staffed. Our food order was somewhat slow, but we waited twice as long for our dessert - a very good key lime pie. It's a nice place for a special dinner. I just think they were a bit off on this holiday evening.
Love wine tasting, wine tasting servers are wonderful. I would enjoy the food more and eat at restaurant more often if had less spicy options and happy hour . The seafood and tuna options are mostly spicy so I feel only option is salmon. I always have a great time st Cooper's Hawk but I mainly do tastings. My friends that I have encouraged to become wine club members go elsewhere for happy hour before coming for tastings. It would be great to make it a one stop evening.
As good as Cooper's Hawk is, and it is good, we couldn't help but think that it falls just a bit short of its potential, given its location and theme. It's all little things, that if tweaked would put this place over the top.
The cheese / charcuterie plate should be one of a wine-themed place's absolutely strongest offerings. Here it was just ok, bordering on meh. The cheeses were indifferent, and though the figs and honeycomb were nice touches, the candied bacon was overwhelming, and in large almost un-cuttable pieces. Already plenty of "sweet" on this plate without the bacon. Also, the Texas Toast slices led to too much bread, not enough of everything else. Maybe olives would better give you that salt / fat combo that you look for in the bacon. Everything was fresh and properly presented - the rest is strictly my own opinion!
The entrees were very good. The fish and chips were crunchy and delicious, though I'd suggest thicker wedges over French fries. They were cooked well, however. My wife enjoyed the salmon piccata.
Service was fine if a bit rushed. I would have liked more wine with the entree, but it wasn't offered and the server was busy elsewhere once I decided.
You're close, guys. The atmosphere is really very nice if a bit loud. A little fine tuning could make this place a real star.
They were out of a lot of menu items including our favorite which was pretty disappointing. Server could be a little more attentive but was kind.
Lots of food options unavailable, making me wonder what on the menu I could actually order that would be able to be made.
Great food for a great price! Love being in the wine club!
Excellent all around... and fun!
I am very pleased with open table got there walked to the host took me straight to my table. No issues.
As always, we had an outstanding meal at Cooper’s Hawk. Unfortunately, my medallions were over done (this is happening more often). But the rest of our meal and of course our wine was wonderful. We love Cooper’s Hawk and will continue to come back.
Noise was awful! Couldn’t even talk to my husband. Service was poor. We waited forever getting waited on then had to ask for everything instead of server checking on us. Once had to ask another server to find out server to get a item that was ordered but not received. This was our 45th Anniversary so wanted it to be special but wish we would of went somewhere else!
Poor service. Appetizers late and cold. Very disappointing in comparison to other cooper’s hawk locations
Food and wine were great as always. We’ve been many times and the wine tasting area is always packed and has lines to get a tasting. I feel another tasting bar instead of all the stuff for sale would benefit the area much more.
Our waitress Charnee was awesome and very knowledgeable!
Very lively, delicious food and amazing service! Will definitely be back!
Service was somewhat spotty, with us having to wait for wine service and water refills. The restaurant was too cold on a cooler-than-usual August day. The great food made up for it, however.
As members were received two “thank you” bottles of wine during our meal which is one of the many great perks of the membership. The wine and food are always great. I cannot express to people how great the food is! Regardless of membership everyone should experience the food, it’s presentation and the excellent service. I had the Crispy Maui Shrimp meal and the shrimp was great, but the rice was excellent. Cilantro citrus rice!
