Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
It was a really crowded Saturday night, but we were seated for our reservation after only a short wait. Our server was friendly and attentive. We were all very happy with our food choices. The trio of medallions were each prepared differently and all were delicious (maybe a shade over medium). The gnocchi bolognese is outstanding. I like t have the wine flight so I can taste different varieties. This time I had the red flight and was no disappointed.
Cooper's is one of our very favorites! This time we tried the Chef's recommendation and it wasn't the best we've had. It was a blackened NY strip, and it was literally BLACK with a solid coat of pepper. My husband and I both love pepper and spicy food, but this had way too much pepper to even taste the flavor of the steak. Other than that, it was a nice dinner. The wine tasting is always fabulous.
Wasn't our best dinner from there, but it in no way changes our mind about Cooper's. When you try new things there's always a chance that it won't be your favorite.
Our waitress, Jessica, was wonderful, too. She seemed a bit nervous, perhaps, but she was a doll and ensured we had everything we needed.
Go to Cooper's! You will not be disappointed.
The menu choices are really great. Our food was cooked perfectly. Value for the quality of the atmosphere, and the food is outstanding.
Only small disappointment was a slow start with the waiter on taking our order, but it wasn’t terrible, and the waiter did an awesome job.
We were celebrating my son's birthday and we had an excellent experience! The wine of the month was very good – a blend of cab Franc and cab sav. I am gluten-free and dairy free and they were able to accommodate me with a wonderful piece of salmon with grilled broccoli and sautéed spinach Yum! My son ordered steak and the husband ordered jambalaya. Only negative for us was the calamari. Great reviews were written about it so we ordered it right away. Seems it has changed since we ordered it there last. Now the breading is like a tempura batter although the calamari itself was meaty and very good. We like more of a light and crisp breading where you can still see the calamari itself. If there were an option to order it just grilled that would be terrific. Thanks to the chef and to Jocelyn our waitress for a great birthday experience overall!
Our first visit...loved the wine! Initial greeting was "ok" not really noteworthy even when we told them it was our first visit there.
Waiter was good, friendly, but he had too many tables. We had to wait for everything. Frustrated by having to wait "on the bar" to get sample of wine out to us...we were almost done with our meal by the time one of us got our sample to decide what tasted good with the food.
The taste of the food was absolutely wonderful, though. And, the wines we did finally order were amazing. Definitely will return but plan to go at an "off" time for less crowd, noise, and more timely service.
Cooper's Hawk is always our go-to restaurant for wine tastings and meals. We love the menu and the food is always excellent. However, on New Year's Eve our food arrived to the table cold and some of the food was undercooked. This is the second time this has happened to us on New Year's Eve so we will go elsewhere to celebrate this occasion.
We looked forward to getting together with old friends at the end of the year and Cooper’s Hawk fit the occasion perfectly. Everyone enjoyed the food, the wait staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the price was comfortable for the group. I recommend this place for wine, food, and good times.
My girlfriend & I were celebrating our Christmas dinner together. It had been snowing so it was nice & warm inside. Our waitress was very knowledgeable. She gave us advise on some of the cocktails & entrees. I had a really good martini called Dana's Pineapple. I had grilled shrimp & from the gluten free menu my girlfriend had chicken. We were both very pleased with our selections. I liked that the noise level was pretty low so that you could have a conversation without shouting. Granted this was around 6:00 on Friday so it could get louder later on. It has been awhile since I have been back here but was my girlfriend's first time & she was impressed.
All in all, we had great food & good atmosphere.
The server we had was excellent. It was an extremely busy evening yet she was very attentive to us. Meal usually includes a wine tasting of two glasses per person. We weren't really drinking wine that evening but at the server suggestion she brought us an assortment of eight small glasses for tasting. I tried to a couple of others tried one. A few were good a couple were not to our taste. As for the food, it was good. But I would not write it as spectacular. This was my second visit, both times the service was consistent as was the food.
I was slightly disappointed. I have an onion allergy, which the chef and wait staff took serious, which is GREAT. I ordered the Groper. I asked if the chef felt there was a better choice please let me know.
I received the fish, with NO sauce because the sauce had onion. I was expecting the server to inform me of the choice of fish with no sauce, or another option. I felt I made that clear.
1. I prefer what action was taken as to ignoring the allergy, so good job on that.
2. BEST action would have been to inform me of change and let me make choice.?????? If that is unreasonable, I would like to know so I can change my expectations.
Where we were seated, it was a bit drafty. The waitress was young and not as a knowledgeable as we had hoped. She was pleasant and friendly but reserved. Overall, we truly enjoy the ambience, the food, and the extensive wine list. We visited many times and we’ll definitely be back.
In a nutshell, the food was very good but the service lacked. The server was truly sweet but she seemed like this was either her first waitress job or she was just simply not cut out for this type of work. I do realize she had 3 other tables but we had to ask for things multiple times and then give up on other things. Our food was delayed a very long time and the manager was kind and took care of our desserts which did make up for the delay. However, I have to wonder if it's b/c the server forgot to submit the order for a while therefore creating the issue in the first place???
