Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Columbus
All very good The attention very good. The new menu very rich
What a terrible experience! Our table was wet and sticky when we sat down. My menu was sopping wet, and my husband's has pages covered in (I think) salad dressing. It took 20+ minutes for water, 10 more for our wine taste, another 15 for our wines. It also took 30 minutes for bread, 45 mins for appetizers, and an additional 45 minutes for our dinners. Our server actively avoided us. A hostess was cleaning off tables and set her dirty rags on the clean appetizer plates she then put on the table!! Hello health hazard! I worked in several restaurants for 10+ years including as a manager. This is beyond awful. The manager comped a lot of our meal, confirming that our lackluster entrées truly did take 40 minutes longer than they should have. I didn't bother mentioning that this was my birthday meal, or that I was relieved that I didn't pre-schedule the movie I wanted to see afterward (we wouldn't have made it)...by that point I just wanted to get out of there. Our reservation stated this was a birthday celebration, but no one even mentioned it, much less did anything to make it special. The *only* redeeming value were the Thai Lettuce wraps and meatballs with crostini apperizers which were actually pretty good. Everything else wasn't worth even a fraction of the 2 1/4 hours we spent wondering why we were still there. Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere.
Excellent food and the ambiance is great! Love us some Cooper’s Hawk!
Absolutely amazing place to eat. The services was great and the food was excellent.
Have been there before and it was FANTASTIC so I went back with a friend and the service was horrible:((( didn’t even get our wine till way after our food was served and it took over two and half hours to be done and we were late to our next event.... rethinking about going back now
I love Cooper's Hawk. However, Sat night was very high noise volume and by 8:00 they were out of Prime Rib. On a Sat night???? Very disappointed.
Food was okay, my salmon tasted dry. Enjoyed my glass of Malbec though
So this was our 2nd dinning experience at Cooper's Hawk. 1st time was so phenomenal, we came back a year later for our anniversary dinner. This time was not so great, thank goodness we had good company. Our server was very polite, our food was hot and good. Everything was very very slow. The wine we ordered when dinner came, was delivered when dinner was finished. The big issue was the black scraggly hair that was in my last bite of food. I let it go. Upon eating my husbands leftovers the next day, I found another short black hair in his food. This is too high end of a reasturant for that crap to be happening. Someone isn't abiding by food service standards. If your sloppy with hair nets and hats being worn, I really hope you're still washing hands after using the restroom and not cross contaminating in the kitchen.
Generally our experience at Cooper's Hawk is always excellent. We started with a tasting with Tri. She is always wonderful and our favorite. Our lunch experience this month was terrible. It took over 10 minutes for our waiter to greet us. Another 10 min for him to bring our bottle of prosecco. He did not bring champagne glasses nor did he bring a bottle chiller. We asked him for one and it took another 20 minutes for him to return with one. Overall our dinning experience could have been better.
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch on Saturday and being able to sit outside - great food and wine (Bin 90).
This is an excellent place to eat at Easton. The menu features a wide range of entrees that are reasonably priced. The service was very good and they have great wines. It is best to make a reservation as it is very popular.
This is one of my favorite places to go to Love the vibe and ambiance
We absolutely love Coopers Hawk. It is one of our favorite places and we will continue to visit and recommend to our friends. Never had a bad experience there.
It was our server’s first day on the floor and it showed. With all things considered, he did a good job. His effort and attitude was great ... he just needs a little more experience, so I gave him four stars instead of five. Dinner was still wonderful!
Dinner out with the girls was great fun! We were there 3 hours and no one pressured us to move on.
Took three hours from start to finish. Such slow service. Took a half hour before we even got our drinks.
Overall the experience was disappointing. Food looked great however on the 3rd bite of the tuna tacos plastic was pulled out of my friends mouth! We didn’t make a fuss about it just called over our waiter told him what we found and just wanted a new dish. The waiter apologized and the manager proceeded to come over an apologize as well however it did not seem super sincere (almost like he had been doing it all night). Almost 30 minutes went by and still not replacement meal so we ended up canceling the order based on the time it took and asked for the check. The manager came over again but this time almost acting like he forgot that he had come over the first time to apologize as he said almost the same thing. Check came out paid the bill and while yes the tacos were removed because there was plastic in them but there was no offer for a discount on the total order or offering of a free dessert to go or even the replacement taco order that we put in which took over 30 minutes to go. To top it all off we were there celebrating my friends birthday and I remembered they use to give a free truffle or strawberry for birthdays and we didn’t even get that. When we were walking out we asked the hostess if that was still a policy and indeed it was so we told her we never got one on top of the poor experience and she was nice enough to go grab a small $2 truffle sincerely apologize for the experience and we went our way. I love coppers hawk and it is always a great place to come for special occasions however after this experience I will caution all friends and family on dining there due to poor management and cool staff.
We got a corner booth away from most of the noise in the front. Service was great and the food was fantastic.
Our waiter was excellent!
Food was excellent, wine was excellent, service was good (a little problem with the bill)
Another enjoyable evening with our Goddaughter and spouse at CH. As always the food was excellent and the Vino even better. My fav is the Blackened Ahi Tuna dinner, love the Asian Slaw. Looking forward to our next trip.
Great place for a business dinner, staff was awesome and provided the right amount of attention. Our server, Sam, was outstanding.
We tell everyone how wonderful the food is. But, we also tell them "don't go hungry"! It takes at least 40 minutes to an hour to get your food.
So, this is one of those reviews that starts with "I really like Coopers BUT . . . "
Learned something on this visit about Coopers Hawk:
- never go late in the evening on a popular day like Mother's Day - the staff basically mailed it in and were ready to leave for the night and our service and meal felt like a total bother to everyone
- do not get the surf and turf . . . ever. Portions are tiny and not worth the up-charge. My wife had the steak and scallops - not exaggerating, the scallops were maybe 3/4-1" in size and over cooked, they could not be under-cooked because they were so small that would be impossible and her steak (ordered rare) was served well-done. My crispy pork was indeed crispy but, 1/8" of pork coated was tasteless and not worth getting, the salmon was a decent sized portion and tasted good.
- drinks took 20 minutes to arrive, very unusual but, our waiter was beat and told us that had two other tables that she was taking care of - as soon as she was done with them she could give us our due attention . . . 'Hey! thank you, appreciate that!' lol
Our meal was over $240 (5 of us) and this is the first time we have ever felt like we got a much better meal at Texas Roadhouse than we did at Cooper's Hawk, literally, the salad at Roadhouse has more ingredients and is like $4 less . . . and the dressing is better. The sirloin at Texas Roadhouse was by far better than the over-cooked disappointing chunks of meat served to my wife. This is not a promo for TRH, just a comparison of a meal that cost $30 there vs $80 at CH.
Disappointed and much wiser now that I know never to go an hour before closing time or late on a Holiday, learned our lesson well.
We have been here for special event dinners and work gatherings in the past but the management of the restaurant seems to have dropped in quality. Servers were unaware of custom wine pairing suggestions. We waited over 10 minutes to receive a beer and wine to accompany the bread offering.
Staff members rolled garbage bins across the table seating area several times during our meal.
When we received our entrees the server sat them on the edge of the table didn't look up or identify the food to present them to the patron, and then walked away.
Waiters didn't clear the used plate service before dropping off dessert.
Air conditioning was turn on high at a 7:30 dinner reservation and not remedied for multiple patron complaints.
In general it feels as if it is becoming a victim of not training staff properly and hence dropping into a casual mall experience. Which is a shame because the food and wine offering has been solid.
With the strong professional restaurant environment in Columbus, Cooper's Hawk will need to dial up in training and service or disappear as a novelty trend restaurant in the competitive landscape. Identify your key audiences and train your staff to service them. Unfortunately I am hesitant to come back or recommend.
I always come to the wine tasting and they are so amazing. I always have a good time. Never had an issue. This was my first time dining in and it did not meet my expectations. It started with our server. She made the effort to come to the table and tell us that the server who brought bread and water was her husband so if he comes over to the table occasionally don’t be alarmed, which made us feel very uncomfortable. I’m a server so I completely understand how things flow in a restaurant, I have no problem with a team oriented service style. However she barely came to the table, I asked for lemons twice, my mother had to ask for a refill and was given the wrong drink. My mother mentioned it to the server, however her hands were full and we were definitely aware of that but her non verbal signals implied that it was an issue that she asked. I made the reservation becuase I wanted to celebrate Mother’s Day with my mother and sister. We have never been to Cooper’s Hawk. The food was great, but the service was awful.
Have always had a great experience expect for mother’s day. Our server seemed stressed out which was okay I understand from being in that industry but our waters sat empty the whole time and we barely saw her. Food was good , over all not a great night.
Food and service were excellent .
Just a good place to go . Would recommend for any occasion !
Good food n good wine.
Everything was great as always! The food and wine were amazing and our server was very kind! The only downside was that the servers were giving flowers to all mothers(since it was Mother’s Day), but we never got one for my mom. Also, I noticed that when you order a bottle of red wine, it is served in a decanter on your table. The table near us got one, but we didn’t.
Very nice atmosphere alone with excellent food and outstanding wine. Number one restaurant in my book. #coopershawknumberone
My meal was delicious, her meal was so-so!
Mother’s Day was especially nice with the meal and service we received. Our server was Samuel, he was very accommodating and helpful. When you go you must try the hummus and roasted vegetables and the crispy brussel sprouts. My gnocchi carbonara was delicious!
We love this place and we have always had great service and food!
Love Coopers Hawk! Rob our waiter was Great! Jeff and Walt in the bar are also great!
We celebrated Mother's Day last year at Cooper's Hawk and enjoyed it so much we did it again this year. Still wonderful!
Been several times- asked to switch tables do not look at the servers station and about 4 waiters walked past us before we asked who our server was. Slightly disappointed in the communication.
Third time here and it was as wonderful as the first time! The food is excellently prepared and attractively plated. The servers are awesome, attentive and knowledgeable.
I love everything about Cooper’s Hawk! When we first entered, we were greeted with pink carnations and small glass of wine (on Mother’s Day). What a wonderful way to start the experience. We did not have to wait for anything! The service was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the wine was fabulous! That is why we continue to patronize Cooper’s Hawk!!
