Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Columbus Ratings and Reviews
The only issue I had was rare for a visit to Cooper's Hawk. I ordered the Turkey Burger and it was completely dry and had absolutely no flavor. I am not one to complain but I had to drench it in mustard/ketchup (which I never use on a turkey burger) to eat it. Very disappointing.
The rest of our party had a great meal as I usually do. But I wouldn't consider the turkey burger as one of the options.
The food was excellent, we shared the cheese tray which had candied bacon. It was wonderful and would be great for two to four. The menu is very extensive and there's something for everyone. I had a chicken caesar salad that was very good. The portion size was just right. The dressing was creamy, flavorful and house made. We ordered a second class of wine that did take a while to come to the table. The restaurant was very busy so I don't know if the bar was behind. That is the reason that I didn't give 5 stars.
The food at Cooper’s Hawk is consistently delicious. The short rib risotto is so wonderful that it’s hard to order anything else. Excellent service. Wonderful ambiance & very relaxing. Just a fun place for lunch or a wine tasting with friends. Even after finishing our lunch, my party was encouraged to sit and visit as long as we wanted to.
Overall we had a great experience. This is the second time I’ve been to Cooper’s hawk and my only complaint is they messed up my order for the second time. I had to send it back and then wait an extra 15 minutes for my second meal. Seems like they struggle with special requests on orders.
My husband and I frequently dine at Coppers Hawk. We had friends in from out of state and we all went after seeing Phantom of the Opera on 01/06/18. We enjoyed wine tasting before dinner and our dinner was excellent, as was our waiter. We have never had a bad experience here. Love Coppers Hawk!
We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The server was extremely nice and helpful....answering questions about the menu, wine, and her favorites. My wife was even allowed to sample three wines before selecting one for her dinner.
We ordered two appetizers....the pork tostadas and the calamari. The tostadas were delicious. The calamari was tasty....but had this extremely thick/gloppy battered coating. It actually ate more like a Chinese dish (General Tso) than any calamari I’ve ever had. Too heavy for my taste. At the bottom of the plate was a huge pile of batter that didn’t stick to anything. I probably wouldn’t get that again.
Wife ordered surf and turf (filet and salmon)....very good. My daughter ordered Parmesan chicken....also very good. I ordered a shrimp and polenta.....not good! After eating about half of it I went back to check the menu and there were at least two advertised ingredients that were left off the plate. Supposed to include andouille, corn, and white cheddar in the polenta(and presumably some seasoning. All missing from my plate. I alerted the server who was extremely apologetic and she alerted the manager...who came to my table.
I will say they were trying very hard to remedy the situation....but I was basically full by then so I didn’t want a redo. The manager removed that charge from my bill.
All in all it seems like a pretty good place....but it does make you wonder about the overall food quality. We ordered 5 dishes in total....and 2 had an issue (one was a complete fail). Hopefully it was just bad luck and not what is usual from their kitchen.
It’s hard to give an overall rating better than 3 stars when there are food issues unfortunately.
Took my girlfriend there for her 50th birthday. Her steak was not prepared as requested. Sent back the steak and it was, again, not prepared as requested. Manager performed a good recovery; however my carryout order took 45 minutes to prepare.
Very disappointed with this experience.
My wife and I brought my sister in law here sans kids for an afternoon wine tasting and early dinner for New Years Eve. We arrived around 4 pm and the tasting room was pretty full but we were able to find room at the bar right away. The tasting moved along at a good pace but we were still about 5-10 minutes late for our 4:45 reservation which they were happy to hold for us when I told them we were tasting. Tasting menus are set and change each month. With it being the end of the month and New Years Eve and right after Christmas they were out of a lot of wines but were very gracious to substitute anything you wanted to taste instead. Dinner was fantastic. The food was out timely and made exactly to order. The wait staff was friendly and helping each other out. Being New Years Eve we received extra wine samples at our table and I saw samples being served in the waiting area to those waiting on tables. Great overall experience. If you plan on going for New Years Eve I would suggest getting there early. If you want to do a wine tasting plan for at least an hour (there are 8 wines to taste). Expect them to be sold out of a lot after the Holidays, and, especially if you do a tasting, have a designated driver.
Concept is great; Cooper's Hawk is very popular with very good food and its own wine label; also has good cocktails and appetizers. We went for an early dinner on New Year's Eve. We wish we would have delayed ordering and enjoyed our cocktails because everything came out too quickly. The meal was over in one hour. We felt we were rushed so the table could be turned over multiple times prior to the last seating. I "get" that, but ALL diners who made reservations should have an enjoyable experience, whether early or late in the evening.
