Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Columbus Ratings and Reviews
In the past we have had a very good experience here but we've not been in over a year probably. We were disappointed in the service that we had as our food was quite delayed...to the point the manager came over to apologize and to let us know there was a problem in the kitchen. Then another 35-40 minutes passed before food came out. Mine was only lukewarm (probably kept under a light), a friend's parmesan chicken was burnt and not edible (he didn't complain but should have...was not in mood to wait for new food) and our waiter never checked back with us for drinks after the first order was placed. He never came back to check on our meals after they came out or to see if we needed anything until time for dessert. I'm not sure I'll be rushing back here again anytime soon.
We go to Cooper's hawk all the time, we have been wine members for many years but last night's experience was a little different from all the others. we got a very dirty, smelly menu along with a dirty snack plate. We tried the Carmel Creme brulee, although it was made to perfection the flavoring was not very good, I will stick with the chocolate cake next time. The best part about the evening was our waiter, he was fantastic
Was wonderful! I like how I got a text message when my table was ready. I didn’t like that it was very loud (especially crying babies) but I suppose that can’t really be controlled. Waiter was very professional. Food was delicious! General atmosphere was very classy. I felt like all the employees wanted to be there.
We had 7:45 reservations for dinner Saturday night for 4 people and arrived there a bit early (7:00). We knew our table wouldn't be ready that early (it wasn't)but thought we would look around the gift shop area because it has so many unique items and then decided to partake in a wine tasting while we waited (that takes about 45 minutes). All the wines on the tasting menu were very good (and I am a bit of wine snob). For dinner we ordered one of the specials - butternut squash ravioli with lobster and shrimp - it was phenomenal! We were lucky enough to be able to order a bottle of the seasonal Dodici (12 )wine with dinner - it was also very good. I only regret we didn't buy a bottle to bring home! We finished our dinner with the smores dessert. It was sized large enough that the 4 of us each got to have a good taste without eating too much, and it was really good, with a layer of caramel mousse, chocolate mousse, graham cracker crumbs and topped with toasted marshmallow. So good.
It was a busy Saturday night so we made sure to have reservations for our party of 3. However, our seating time was 15 minutes after our reservation which pushed back the rest of our plans for our Girls’ Night. The server told us dinner “couldn’t be hurried” because it’s all “made from scratch”. I’m sure the chef’s special ravioli begins from dough each time someone orders it...when she brought us our wine flights, my friend had a replacement for one her wines, without being asked. She then proceeded to drop a flight carrier on this friend which luckily was not full of wine! The food was amazing and we were able to make our movie just in time. Didn’t like feeling rushed though. Make sure to leave extra time when making your reservation!
Party of 5, with reservation: after being seated, waited 15 minutes before a server stopped to take our beverage order. Beverages took another 15 minutes to be delivered. It was 42 minutes after being seated before the server took our meal order. One meal order included soup, but soup was never served. One meal was a salad, but the dressing was missing. Server said, "I'll get that for you right away". 10 minutes later, I asked a staff member clearing a near-by table if he could get the dressing. He did so right away. Our server only came back 30 minutes into our meal to inquire "How are the first bites of your meals?" By which time, two of us were done.
Usually I love Cooper's hawk but was very disappointed this visit, it was a special occasion and people came in from out of town to go to dinner and this was their first experience at Cooper's Hawk, which I had highly talked up. They were out of sooo many items, including two meals that people wanted to order, two wines, and two deserts plus more. I sure hope this not how the restaurant is trending.
We love coppers hawk, we have been wine members for years, the food is always delicious, but our service was not up to par last night. She didn't let us taste the wine first, she poured it so quickly it almost splattered out and she asked if we wanted dessert while I was still eating dinner. It was just disappointing.
Went for a friends birthday. There were 9 of us total. Service was horrible! Are reservations were for 8, we didn’t get food until 10! It’s wasn’t just our table either that had bad service. Another couple walked out and another was complaining to manager as well. I got the crab cakes and you feel the shells still in the mix.
My first visit at Cooper's Hawk was very pleasant. From the cleaniness of the atmosphere to the knowledge of our waitstaff. It was truly an enjoyable time. The cafe mocha is incredible and the flights of wine was so much fun to try for a reasonable price. Food is amazing!
I went with my family and all our food was great. We had the ahi tuna sashimi which was excellent and the pork belly tostadas (v good). For dinner I ordered gnocchi Bolognese with short ribs and we also got the shrimp with polenta and risotto with shortribs And surf and turf. All the food was delicious and the ambience was v good.
The food and wine were excellent, but the service needs work. We waited about 20-25 minutes past our reservation time. It took quite a while to get our waters, not to mention our wine. When the waiter brought our second serving of bread, (because by the time our food came we had been waiting at the table for over an hour), he swiftly took my friend’s bread plate (leaving everyone else’s) and leaving her with nothing to eat her bread on. We asked our waiter for silverware three times before a manager came by and finally got it for us right away.
The food, once it finally came, was amazing! I’ll be back, but will maybe lower my expectations on service a bit.
I have been to CH before and enjoyed it a lot, however, when my boyfriend and I decided to drive all the way acros town to go there for our four year anniversary, we did not have a very good experience. After arriving, we were promptly seated and our server came to us in a timely manor. I already had anxiety at this point and was disappointed at the noise level in the restaurant. But I sat down and dismissed it and kept the thought of having a romantic dinner with the love of my life in mind. Upon ordering, my boyfriend got sneaky and pointed to a fine desert on the menu and requested that it be brought at the end of our meal. (I also stated that it was our anniversary when making the reservation online) we ended up waiting a very long time for our meals (on a Thursday night on Nov. 2) So long in fact, the manager came out and apologized. Our waiter then apologized as well and offered us a complimentary cup of bisque, which was nice, and I took him up on his offer. Our meals finally came and the food was good. Once finished, I had my leftovers boxed up. Our waiter brought the check and told us to have a great evening and walked off. That was that. No desert.
The one thing I was really excited about that would make our anniversary celebration complete was completely forgotten about. Luckily it was not on our bill. At that point, I was so disappointed and just wanted to leave, so we decided not to say anything, paid our bill and left.
My Cooper’s Hawk experience was just not a great one. I understand things happen, kitchens get backed up, etc. But we were celebrating and leaving out one of the best parts of that celebration flat out sucked. Period. Very disappointed and no longer a fan. Hoping this was just a fluke and others enjoyed their evening. Best of luck to the restaurant in the future.
We had several different main courses (4 of us). All were exceptionally good. The General Manager came to our table and welcomed us as first time visitors and was very gracious. The desserts are "off the hook" and baked fresh in house as are all of the courses. On balance, a delightful experience in a beautiful restaurant. We will be returning soon.

Great date night with the hubby, and it started here prior to heading to the comedy club. Several groups doing wine tastings while we had a brief wait to be seated. Prompt & polite service both checking in and at our table. Waiter made great food & wine recommendations. Food was wonderful, as was the wine. We will be back!
We had a group of 7, celebrating a much needed weekend away. Our server was delightful and knowledgeable about the menu. However, service was extremely slow, especially regarding bar service. Our drinks arrived long after appetizers. One of the meals was not served as ordered, although corrections were made and the meal was served correctly in short order. The manager on duty "comped" us a round of drinks given the slow service. His service was adequate but he lacked polish in manner and dress. I have been to Cooper's Hawk on several occasions and have loved it every time, this occasion makes me doubt my decision to return as well as my suggestion to the group that Cooper's would be a great place to go for dinner!
