Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Burr Ridge Ratings and Reviews
Never disappointed with the meal at Coopers Hawk. I really enjoy the southwest egg rolls appetizer each time I come. This time i had the Surf n Turf menu item, which I went with the pretzel encrusted pork chop and the mexican shrimp. The food was amazing as always. For dessert, we had the banana bread sundae, it was great! We'll be back again!
We've been to this location before, its our favorite! Great location, great wine selection. It took us about 20 minutes to find a spot at the tasting bar, the waiter offered us complementary glasses of wine while we waited for a spot. The tasting bar is ALWAYS packed, no matter what time of day it is. It's a great experience, just wish it was easier to get in for a tasting.
Everything at dinner was great, until we were told our wine club membership wasn’t active AND we were missing the 6 bottles I had on my account. I ended up signing up for a new one, but it’s ridiculous because I already had a membership and 6 bottles of wine waiting to be picked up.
Wow, Cooper’s Hawk is always slammed! When I walked in a little after 4 PM on a Saturday afternoon, the tasting area was crazy and so was the restaurant. I found a communal table to sit at and drink some wine while I waited for a friend and the service was a little slow but understandably so, because of how busy it was. When my friend arrived, we move to our reservesd table but I had to bring my wine to the table because no one was coming to move it for me. The service at our table was fine. I poured my own wine but I’m ok with that!
We started off bad (we sat for a long time unnoticed) then Dorothy talked to us (she actually had a different section). The manager stepped up and gave us a free appetizer and bottle of wine. They had her remain as our server even though we weren’t in her section. We had a couple other things go wrong too! Like they sent mushrooms out on my husbands plate and he’s fatally allergic (after they wrote down his list of allergies!). But I will say the great mood of Dorothy and the manager turned it into a fun evening! Our server was super sweet and was very knowledgeable! We had lots of laughs about the series of events! They even gave us complimentary desserts! This experience definitely makes me want to go back! Fact is that things will go wrong but hownit is handled can really turn it around. Good job CH!
We had the calamari appetizer first and were disappointed in the heavy breading. It was tender and tasty but too much breading. My husband has his pretzel crusted pork and loved it. I had the churasco(?) shrimp for the first time and really enjoyed it. I was concerned that it would be spicy but they were not, just a little heat. We had the wine of the month and loved it. A great meal!
Very disappointed with where we were seated. Plenty of open tables and booths. Server was very lax and didn't explain the specials causing us to get our order wrong... didn't get it corrected since she didn't come back till long after we were done.. We were off in a corner of a back room by ourselves. Burr Ridge used to be our favorite CH... not any more😔
The waitress was very helpful as one of the guests was handicapped and hard of hearing. She accommodated us very well after we were first seated in a noisy location. It would have been even more impressive if they had "read" the message sent with the original reservations saying that one of the guests was handicapped and hard of hearing and requesting a table in a quiet corner. In the end it worked out just fine.
Cooper’s Hawk is one of our favorite restaurants in Burr Ridge, have been going there for years, so it’s a little unfair to dock them, but, the service was so poor last night that I think it’s worth pointing out. We had a 5 pm reservation so the place was not yet busy, yet it took time to just get the water on the table, not to mention the wine. We had a 2 hour window to eat and ended up leaving with unsealed bottles because the waiter was nowhere to be found. So, too bad, and of course, we’ll be back and hope for better service.
Felt a little lost in the beginning. No one greeted as you walk in. Asked a staff member from tasting area for information. Once i walked up to host area both gentlemen greeted with a smile. Did the wine tasting before our dinner and the server was great. Restrooms need a little more attention with cleanliness informed the host and he worked on getting it serviced right away. Our waitress was very pleasant help get our table to stop rocking. Little minor things but was a great place. Will dine here again.
New Years Eve Dinner celebration. Assuming they were open til at least 1 am. Well they said they closed about 10:30. Strange, because on open table you could make a 10:30 reservation. When asked waiter his answer made no sense. He said we had so many walk ins??? He disappeared for a long period of time, could have been more attentive. Food was very good as always. Bathroom could of used attention from cleaning crew.
We were a party of 6 and really had a nice time. Appetizers were delicious but could have been a bit hotter--warmer. We felt very fortunate to have Becky as our server....prompt, courteous, and very pleasant considering how busy she seemed to be. We definitely plan to return !!
The menu needs a change. We have not been happy with the quality of food our last several visits. The wine is great but they need help with the food menu. This has been our go to place for our New Year's Eve dinner the past few years but we will definitely be switching it up next year.
