Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Arlington Heights Ratings and Reviews
Everything as far as the service and the food was great as always. We have always been overly satisfied with our server. The food I believe might be a little bit costly for what you get. We also made a reservation and requested a booth however they said none was available and we were seated at a table. We looked around and there were two booths that were empty. We did not asked to be moved.
We had reservations at 8pm, didn’t get seated till 8:45pm. They kept telling us they were wiping down the table, for 45 mins? They gave us a free bottle of wine, which was nice. But then when we ordered appetizers they ran out of the 3 choices we had made. Don’t get me wrong I love Cooper’s Hawk but I would much rather go to the South Barrington location.
I am a frequent satisfied customer but this time it was disappointing. Our first server took some time to get to us and then forgot the bread. She then came back and said she was off shift and we would have a different server take over. When he finally got to us , he also forgot bread. He was pleasant but service was very slow. Lobster bisque was not hot when it came . Beverage refills also slow.
Food portion and quality did not meet the expectation and recommendation. Service, drink refills seemed to be only by request. This was a special event and at best resulted in an average meal. Not living in Chicago, I was surprised to see the crowds waiting to be seated though there was many open tables, they could have been short on staff. This appears to be a highly visited restaurant and though my experience was disappointing, I would be willing to give it another try during my next visit to the city....trusting my experience was the exception.
My wife's meal was late, very late. The server apologized and asked the Manager to visit our table. The manager arrived to apologize, picked up the cost of our meal and gave us a coupon for free meal on our next visit. We love the food and wine at Cooper's Hawk. While I wouldn't want a long wait for a meal every time, they stepped up and made it right. This is the only time we've had a problem, so we'll go back.
The atmosphere was wonderful along with a friendly wait staff. The menu had a good variety and the prices were great. Could not have been a better evening along with the ease of making the reservation with open table. I will always eat here at least once each time I fly into Chicago!
Overall it was a great time I was there for my birthday celebration with my girlfriends, food was great service could’ve been better I waitress only came to our table 3 times I was kind of disappointed on the service part. It’s like she was in a hurry to get us out. Im a memeber there and a few of the girls it was ther first time. I had to aplogize for the service part.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating. All the menu items we ordered were delicious and right portions. Great selection of wine and wait staff provided a small sampling to taste. Our waitress Emily was attentive, personable, friendly and very informative on the menu items and made changes we requested to some of our choices. We were celebrating 4 January birthdays and were presented with truffles as dessert for each of us. The Manager came by also and I remembered him from the Wheeling Coopers hawk. He was very charming and personable as always. It is a pleasure to go to any of the Coopers hawk restaurants because of the great food and service.
Very cool place and great service! The restaurant design and buzz is awesome! Too bad the food and wine selection doesn’t follow. Food is ok for the price but I was expecting more. They served their own labeled wine in a very very cool decanter. The problem is you decent a wine that does not need to be decanted because it’s very poor quality wine. It’s low priced in the $30 to $40 price range but is not even worth that price. Too bad! The concept is cool but needs tweaking to my point of view.
Great food and great service. I had the red wine braised short ribs. Short ribs were very tender but a little bit on the sweet side. My husband had the crab cakes which were excellent and generous with the crab meat. My favorite was the Asian pork belly tostadas appetizer. Service at the restaurant was wonderful. Would go back there again.
The only things that I have an issue with is the noise level, but I know not much can be done for that. I also don’t think you should charge for the tiny Birthday dessert you serve, especially if we are wine club members. I know it’s only $5 but it’s the principle of it.
I love Cooper’s Hawk Restaurants.
Restaurant was 50 degrees with a cold breeze blowing thru the dining room the whole night. Made for an unenjoyable New Year’s Eve dinner with friends. Service was so-so, no busers to clear tables, only waiters/waitresses and because of that service was very slow. 7:45 dinner, all the evenings dinner specials were gone. Clearly didn’t plan for a big evening.
Likely won’t be back again.
