Cool River - Denver Tech Center - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
It's a pretty space, and I've enjoyed work-related events there in the past, but for a Friday night, the place was pretty dead. And for the price, the food was good, but not amazing. Service was too fast. What was the rush? There were only about three tables in use in the dining room. And the hosts totally ignored us on the way out. I think they were bored, too.
My favorite go-to place for salmon. The Three Forks Blackened Salmon Salad is my very favorite dish there. The first time I had it, it was a special & was not an item on the menu. I was happy to find out that I could order it anytime I wanted. My friend has special dietary needs & our server was excellent at accommodating her needs & suggesting substitutes. We were served quickly which accommodates a lunch hour. The restaurant was quiet enough so we could talk & catch up. Always love going there especially for lunch!
I had a party of five and we all enjoyed the food. I had asked for a round table in a quiet section of the restaurant. We got a round table in the middle of the room and it was so noisy we couldn't hear each other talk, which was very disappointing! Everything else was good.
Our waitress was very helpful and cheery. The food was expensive, but well worth it. We ordered off the Colorado menu - Bison and the steaks. The salad with local greens was wonderful. the sides were outstanding as well. I was treating a family member from out of town and she was very impressed.
Just to start off, I don’t usually write reviews, however, I always read them! Being a little selfish, I am a little hesitant to write this review for Cool River as they may start booking up for events and workshops and I won’t be able to get my company in for the dates I need! But that being said, I am writing this review because we have been so pleased with everything and everyone that I just have to do this! Last year we did one workshop towards the end of the year and this year we have done three workshops and two more on the calendar with Cool River. Booking workshops with Cool River has been so pleasant. Shelby, Julie and Carrie are wonderful! I can’t say enough nice things about them, they are very personable and professional. The workshops have been stress free as the managers and staff take pride in making sure everything and every detail has been taken care of to our satisfaction. They always go above and beyond for us and that has been one of many factors why we book with them for all our workshops. As soon as we start setting up our check in table, the head server always comes and makes sure we have everything we need and goes over the evening agenda with us to make sure all the servers and wait staff are on the same page with us. We always have Aisland, the restaurant manager come by and check in with us and make sure everything is satisfactory and we have had Craig the General Manager also check in with us to make sure we're happy. That's one aspect of our experience, the other aspect is, of course, the food! We have had the dinners served buffet style as well as sit down dinners, to mix it up for our repeat clients-and the food has been wonderful! Our clients always comment how excellent the food is and what a pleasant experience it is. So that makes it a win-win experience for all of us and that's the experience we want for our clients and prospective clients to have!
Known for their outstanding steak selection at reasonable prices, Cool River also has a warm, inviting ambiance and a nice varietal menu. I had the venison, and it was perfectly prepared, tender and flavorful. My colleague's steak was exceptional. Service was polite and attentive, and the wine list is extensive. Overall a great dining experience.
We went for an anniversary dinner with our son and his wife. Three of us had their steak that was a special that evening. It came with a salad, mashed potato and a corn dish. Also some very good bread. A very good meal The other person had bacon wrapped scallops with rice. Very good! The staff was friendly and the service was good. We would go there again.
This restaurant was SO NICE. The architecture of the place alone makes it a great place to be. We mentioned we had to make a movie and the food was timed perfectly, incredibly fast, and everything was SO good. The steaks are up there with Ruth's Chris, seriously. Waiter was awesome. Can't say enough good things about it. We've only lived in CO a few years and never knew this was so close to us - we will definitely be back for another very nice date night.
Very busy on Easter of course. We has reservations but still had to wait 20 minutes but understand they can't control how long it takes some people to eat or sit there and talk after their meal. The food was very good many selections of normal brunch fare. Chilled crab legs, large shrimp and the prime rib really stood out to me, but all the selections I tried were very good. Service was a little behind but again I understand its Easter and they were clearly at capacity. We will go again on a non-holiday Sunday and recommend their brunch to anyone.
I had the buffalo burger which wasn't very good. The bun was oversized and very stale. The tomato was larger than the burger and it just wasn't very good for $16
My wife had the vegetable pasta which had to much sauce and wasn't very good and overpriced $18.
The restaurant is starting to look dated with scratches on the woodwork and a number of broken tiles on the floor.
We have been to Cool River a number of times, but I believe this was the last time for us. Its to bad because we use to really like the restaurant.
Expected the "old" Cool River since hadn't been there in awhile. Place was mostly empty, but we (a couple) were seated next to groups with very young kids (which I was surprised to see there). Had to ask 3 times for water, they forgot the salad course all together, brought appetizers before drinks, the "prime rib" was as thick as a flatiron breakfast steak (and yes, they forget my horseradish) and even screwed up the bill. won't be going back -- too bad as this used to be a fun place for adults to dine out with a bit of quality. Now the only thing left are the expensive prices without the atmosphere, service, and food.
The only I am disappointed in Cool Rivet is because my wife ordered a steak medium and it came out very rare. Although the server was quick to take the steak back and cook it more, there was nothing in the way of apologies or rectifying. As I have worked in fine dining, if that were to happen on my watch, I would at least apologize and compensate dessert. Nothing like that happened...
We went the Saturday before Valentine's day. We had a reservation, checked in with the hostess early, and yet she "forgot" about us for about 15 minutes and we only got in after I asked what was going on.
The service was notably slow and we never knew quite who our server was, perhaps a result of the flubbed seating.
The bill came and was incorrect with a wine bottle charge that we didn't order.
The meal was fine, but it seemed like they were having an off night.
We went here for a romantic dinner and wow... not what i expected... the menu had a VERY small choice of foods to pick from. Maybe 5 or 6 entreees. We both got 20 oz steaks and were not impressed with the taste nor the way it was cooked either. Our waiter was ok... not super friendly but not rude either. I wouldnt go here again. Iv had better dinners at applebees for a third of the price.
Salmon was ordered blackened. I asked if it could come with just vegetables and was told it would.
A broiled salmon on rice and veggies arrived...It was still lovely, but not what I had my heart set on. Waiter was distracted and busy...Not that big of a deal...
