Order the Provençal cod. Fresh ingredients were overpowered by the heavy handed use of cumin. Couldn’t taste the delicate cod. Even the tomato broth left a dry taste in the mouth.

Came here for early dinner after a Broadway matinee to celebrate my mom's birthday which was noted on the reservation yet they sat 4 of us on a tight spot near the entrance. On my way to the restroom, saw a lot of empty spots which would have been more ideal. Ordered appetizers and main entrees - 2 Cods and 2 Black Bass, wine etc. The server never bothered to check on us, I had to grab 2 extra plates and napkins from the next table...Ordered Pear Crisp, Zepole and Chocolate Cake, they put one candle on the cake so I wonder if they would have even make an effort to celebrate my mom's 77th bday. Overall, just gives you the impression that they don't care, oh well...

Waitstaff was excellent. Waygu steak needs work. It was served with very salty onion straws. I would skip it. Scallops crudo was the absolute best. Wine pours are generous. Oysters were perfect.

Went to Cookshop for brunch on a Saturday. It was very nicely decorated for Christmas and was pretty busy, even at 10:30am. Had a delicious, albeit expensive, whiskey cocktail. Shared a cinnamon roll, which tasted good but could have been warmer. For my entree, I had the fried egg sandwich. The brioche bun wasn’t as squishy as I would have expected and I wish I would have asked for bacon on the egg sandwich instead of the sausage (not sure if that would have been an option though). They did allow substitutions on other things, like sides, which was a plus. The other entree was a burger, $21, we both agreed it was pricey after tasting it and maybe more like a $13 or $14 burger (it did come with fries). All in all, wait staff was kind and attentive but food wasn’t that special for the price. Would give lunch or dinner a try maybe, though not rushing to go back.

Cookshop was amazing as always. The new GM Marla made the double birthday that was being celebrated extra special. The evening started off with clever and delightful drinks. This was followed up by amazing appetizers. The soup was delicious and the kale Caesar was superb. The eight of us each had a different entree and everyone loved their individual selections - incredibly creative and fresh. The evening end with some of the best desserts we had ever had. An extreme pleasure to celebrate a special occasion at Cookshop.

A return dinner at Cookshop was part of an in-city weekend getaway for my wife and me. Cookshop never disappoints. From precision but friendly on-time seating to a warm and sincere thank you and goodnight you know you have visited a restaurant that believes that the dining experience for the guest is a happy and passionate endeavor. Every action by every player in the restaurant is active, purposeful, productive and considerate.

Our fantastic server was Mark. We started with apps of Brussels and Scallops. Gushing with flavor and perfectly prepared (the scallop dish was particularly beautiful in presentation as well) we knew we were off to a great start. Service already was well-paced and we were well taken care of with our wine, still and sparkling water (each served and left at table in simple but handsome different shaped and colored bottles.

The menu was so tempting that we opted for three entrees knowing we would have next day’s dinner to take home. The Ricotta Gnudi was a delicate and light pasta in a delightful sauce. The Chicken was perfectly cooked, flavorful and juicy. The brisket was tender to the fork just as one would want it to be. Each dish contained its own well-thought, flavorful accompaniment that distinctly added to the overall impact of the dish. We ordered as well a side of potatoes that were uniquely (not fries but irregular pieces) and perfectly cooked to a crispy and slightly spicy result.

There was no room for dessert but we indulged anyway with a unique cheesecake and the best, transformative ice cream Sundae I have ever had.

If you want to see what the standard for great and unpretentious restsurant service should be, perfectly delivering thoughtful and creative but totally wonderful, accessible and fulfilling meals, go at once, and beware, that once you go, the standard will be set high.

I have been away from New York for almost four years. Nevertheless, the hostess and an owner recognized me and welcomed me in a way that was sweet and real. The food was as excellent as ever, the scene was lively, and we had a wonderful time. The dessert was complimentary (and, I might add, gigantic and delicious!). My favorite place in Chelsea.

A very good restaurant. My cocktail Permission for Persimmons was so very good. I ordered the mixed grill and it was delicious. We were in a small group celebrating and even though upon entering it seemed very busy and noisy, once seated I no longer noticed the busyness or noise. The hostess and servers were attentive and very nice.

The area around our table was incredibly cramped. My husband was squished up against a wall behind him and a fellow diner’s back to his left. It was a very tight area so we ate as quickly as we could so we could leave. Food and service were fine though.

I was looking for a great Thanksgiving dinner for one and thought Cookshop should be the right place.
But I was wrong.
First I had to wait for more than 30 minutes for my reserved table while watching how parties of 2,3 or 4 were seated ahead of me. The life of a single diner!
This happened after I had to give a credit card to secure my reservation and was told there was a $25 fee if I’m late or a no show!!! Of course, I did not get a $25 credit.
I ordered the soup and the turkey once seated. The mushroom soup was weird, not what I expected. Clear broth and a weird texture of the mushrooms. Than I was served fish instead of the ordered turkey. They got me the turkey 15 min later but did not replace the side dishes. So turkey with cold potatoes and Brussels sprouts it was.
Not a good experience. Should have stayed home😣Very disappointing!

Disappointing for Thanksgiving dinner. Way too crowded and loud. Food was mediocre and not worth the $70 p/p prix fixe. Despite VIP Opentable status and making the reservation almost two months in advance we were shown to the worst table in the house. Service was friendly, but they were definitely overwhelmed. Would think twice about a return visit.

Cookshop was a fantastic location for a cozy date on a rainy night. We thoroughly enjoyed the energetic ambiance and the service was stellar. Our waitress was friendly, sommelier was knowledgeable, and the servers were courteous and attentive. My dining partner for the evening has a severe wheat intolerance but was able to find numerous items on the menu to satisfy his needs. The food was delightful - very well executed, harmonious flavors, and great value; additionally the sommelier chose a great wine to accompany our meal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and look forward to returning to Cookshop.

Second time at Cookshop, this time for Brunch. Dinner menu, food and cocktails were much better. Low ratings because this place is truly a nightmare to get into- literally. The first time I thought okay just a busy night but again we were hardly able to get through the doors due to a line to get to the hostess. The line filled with angry young woman. We waiting 30 minutes passed our reservation to be sat. Placed in the middle of room, we were moved when asked however then under AC vent which was blasting meanwhile 35 degrees and raining outside. Room was extremely loud and cold. Waiting about 40 minutes passed reservation when I went for dinner. Hostess team- figure it out.
