What Insiders Are Saying
One of the few New York City restaurants you can count on for an excellent meal regardless of circumstance. Go for any meal or for a day on the patio.
Would have given it 5 stars but order was mishandled (but corrected) and the dessert menu was not to my liking - innovative but nothing with a traditional spin
Mediocre at best.
Had appetizers... lackluster and cold. Very limited menu. Cocktails sub par
We had a rude waiter an food not all hyped up to be. I would go elsewhere
Was pretty excited to check this place out as I walk by it all the time and it’s always packed. Ordered a cocktail which was ok. Proceeded to order a couple apps, the lamb anticucho and burrata. The Anticucho was amazing but then all the food was meh from there. Burrata lacked flavor and could have used something to help the cheese pop. I ordered the lamb and if not asked lamb is expected to come out medium rare. It was medium well to well and just a huge disappointment. The seafood soup was good but seafood grossly over cooked with the scallops being as hard as a rock. Decided to skip dessert and spend my money elsewhere. Quite the letdown and grossly overpriced for what you get in my opinion. I live very near and will not return. Service was good.
Cookshop is a great location to enjoy a great meal with you other half or with friends. Great food, drinks and great servers who are always prepared to share their points on putting together great selections from the menu to make your dining experience wonderful.
Painfully expensive for ridiculously small portions. Ordered the hangar steak received a pathetic portion.
We always enjoy our meals and will continue to come back.
I went to the Cookshop for a business meal- it's a vibrant place so for some, maybe not the best for business if your client likes the typical high end steak/seafood places. The service was great, even though the place was very busy- although we had a 6 pm reservation on a Monday night- the place was PACKED by 7 pm. Food was amazing- recommend the grilled quail appetizer- normally would not want to bother with quail, but they take out the breast bones. The arctic char main was equally amazing. Save room for dessert- the warm oatmeal cookie with ice cream was spot-on! Reasonable pricing for NYC to boot!
My friend who lives in this neighborhood first took me here. I have been back a few times, and just chose it for a special night out w my niece. What else can I say? It's become my not-my-neighborhood neighborhood spot! Really always have a nice experience here.
The food was great but the service was even better. My favorite spot in the area, I always take out of town friends here.
One of my favorite places for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Highly recommend
Birthday for a friend
I always feel welcome at Cookshop. I always find many delicious and tempting meal options on the menu.
It was very crowded at 1:15 on a Friday and super noisy.
We spent a lovely three hours dining here after a gallery opening — amazing food, ambiance, and service.
Delicious food. My fried oyster appetizer was so good - wanted more. I would visit again soon just to have that!
Great food and service. Perfect location for all occasions art-related.
Greta brioche French toast. Nice place to chat. Nice for a surprise birthday brunch
Such friendly and attentive staff! Food is always fresh and delicious. Great place to go with a date, close friend or family member to bring them to a quality nyc restaurant.
Excellent, creative food and healthy! I find this a reliably fun and satisfying restaurant in the neighborhood. Service was friendly and attentive and it doesn't break the bank!
Cookshop is one of our family’s favorite restaurants and my daughter picked it for her birthday dinner. And while everything was fine, we were all disappointed we didn’t have the wonderful experience we are used to. The restaurant was very dark, service was very so so, and most disappointingly, nothing we ordered was above average. We’ll give it another try but without the unreserved enthusiasm we usually bring.
Very tasty food. We had a tuna steak with roasted cauliflower. It was delicious. Nice service, nice people
Excellent food in a great location . Will eat there again the next I’m in NYC.
Amazing food, definitely go if you get the chance but make sure to make a reservation!
The food was inconsistent. The appetizers, soup and salads we ordered were all very good and worth returning for but the fish entrees were over cooked and the shell fish was tough. This shouldn't happen at a restaurant at this price level.
Love this place. Always a great experience...food always well presented, staff accommodating. I always happily return.
Favorite spot in Chelsea, by far. Great food and service in an attractive and laid-back atmosphere - vibrant but not too loud.
The perfect place. Good food and atmosphere.
Excellent, as always.
We had the rudest, grumpiest server who was down right hostile.
Eggs excellent. Biscuit not hot. Great location for High Line.
I always come here for NYE , dinner was delicious, however we ordered the Duck and it was so so hard to cut and stiff. We told our waiter and he just laughed and pretended that it was a joke.
I understand that NYE is a busy night but I wish the waiter was more attentive.
Anyways the other dishes were great I highly recommend the chiken and the candy bars from the dessert menu.
Every time I visit NYC, I have to eat at Cookshop.
The restaurant has been a staple of mine for over 15 years.
The service is always on point, the quality of the food is fantastic and there seems to always be a happy buzz in the air.
I love it!
New Year’s Eve brunch.
Love Cookshop. It's a Chelsea neighborhood go to that is always spectacular. We love this place and the food & wine is fantastic. Neighborhood Gem.
Limited menu, but what they do have will blow you out of the water. Our server, Kelsey, made our night!
I live in Chelsea and always recommend Cookshop to visiting guests. The food and service are consistently excellent. We had a reservation so there was no waiting and though crowded, the noise level wasn't bad. Unfortunately, I was too full at the end of the meal to order dessert. A while back I had the best dessert of my life here!
From the moment you walk into Cookshop you can smell the delicious flavors of their carefully crafted meals. I went for brunch and ordered the Huevos Rancheros. They were made exactly how I requested and tasted absolutely amazing. It was the perfect amount of egg, cheese, beans and salsa. Based on the dish's richness, I could tell that they use the freshest, quality ingredients. I would definitely recommend it.
