What Insiders Are Saying
One of the few New York City restaurants you can count on for an excellent meal regardless of circumstance. Go for any meal or for a day on the patio.
Everything from awesome
The food is good, nothing really exceptional. Service is standard, good. I have previously had better meals there, the baked eggs were a bit runny.
This is my go to place. Great cocktails. There brunch is classic. Dinner is also great. Never anything short of fantastic here.
We had an amazing experience at Cookshop. There were three of us there for Saturday brunch and we had an amazing meal; the service was excellent and the food and drinks were delicious. Will absolutely be back!
They try to rush you from the moment you sit down, even though their service is slow. My dish came out 10 minutes after my friend’s even though I ordered before she did. They never gave us pepper for the salad, anything for the eggs, or anything for the plain biscuit. 10 minutes after my food came out they were trying to clear our table, even though I had 75% of my food left. They had 3 different people ask me twice each if they could take my plates. We compromised on boxing up the rest of mine, but when I got home I realized there was only half of a biscuit with a bite taken out of it in the box. From what I was able to eat I can say the food was good, but the service was just terrible. I get it, brunch is busy and you want to turn tables fast to make more money, but come on, don’t treat people like trash. It’s a bummer because we live next door and were hoping to make it a regular spot.
New chairs,much more comfortable.
What a great fresh farm to table spot in Chelsea. Good wait staff.
Our server, “Kristin Ritter Clearance Rack” was outstanding and refreshing for NYC!
Took my nieces out on a visit to NYC
Absolutely amazing food and service. We sat outside on the patio for lunch and it was so peaceful. I would definitely go back and highly recommend it!
Somewhat raucous atmosphere with utilitarian seating, so you’ll need to raise your voice to be heard. But you can count on excellent food and a knowledgeable sommelier. Definitely a destination restaurant but particularly good if looking for something in Chelsea.
Very loud. Go early.
Great food, great service. Wait staff always takes care to indulge our food sensitivities and time constraints.
Love this place!
Very tasty, innovative menu. We started with the stuffed pita, drizzled with honey, which honestly could be a meal in of itself, also an order of the swordfish meatballs, which were outstanding. Never would have thought of making fish meatballs, but they really worked. I had the wheatberry combo, with falafel, tomato etc and my husband had the pork. All items were perfectly prepared and presented. Our waiter had a 1,000 watt smile and wonderful spirit. They have a wonderful wine list as well. We would come back when in NYC again.
The service was abysmal. We were rushed throughout the whole meal, the waiter seemed bored and disinterested.
Great menu options! Excellent food! Salads were especially different and delicious. Very helpful attentive service.
The restaurant was so loud that we chose to eat on the sidewalk instead, even with fire engines & loud motorcycles roaring by. I ordered the deviled eggs & the chicken and neither was good but the chicken was affirmatively bad. It was underdone and rubbery and totally unpleasant. The eggs were supposed to be a variety but they all tasted the same & desperately needed salt. Additionally, it took 45 minutes to get the main dish after the appetizer was cleared away. I had expected a pleasant meal, but this was not the place to get it...
The food was excellent. The service was slow, even though the restaurant was fairly empty at the time of our late lunch. Also the rest rooms needed attention. The first time we used one it was almost out of toilet paper. The second time, one of the toilets was stuffed up, and would have overflowed if it had been used without being fixed. They should be more attentive.
Excellence in dining.
Fresh delicious food with terrific preparation also yummy cocktails.
Enjoyed a delicious Sunday Brunch. Sitting outside made for a perfect atmosphere. Also received a complimentary spice rub as a father’s day token!
"energetic" is a euphemism for "too loud". Otherwise a great dinner.
We were seated right away! And exactly where we had asked! Our server was very knowledgeable and sweet while still professional! The food was brought out in a timely fashion and was super delicious!!! Will definitely be returning!!!!
Cookshop was amazing. The members in our party ranged in age from 10-53 and everyone was pleased. The burger was delicious, the fries were so good that we placed an order for the table. The falafel sandwich was divine. Great cocktails too!
Once again amazing service and outstanding food . 5 stars !! Thank you for a wonderful evening !!
Very impressed with Cookshop. A short menu but everything had by our table was a hit, and the ingredients were clearly high quality. Service was polished and attentive.
In good weather, i would recommend opting for the outdoor (sidewalk) space....interior can get noisy
Met a long time friend visiting from out of town. A delicious meal for a special occasion. Great wine. Excellent service. A great place to catch up!
Many items were delicious. Salad very overdressed.
It was our last night in NYC after 7 years and cookshop had been our favorite restaurant. They made us feel special and appreciated. We will definitely miss Cookshop!
Service was friendly and caring. Food was good. My pork chop was very good. Side crispy potatoes were great. However, my wife had scallops over salad. She didn't like the salad, thought they should have served scallops with vegetables as a dinner entree. Dessert of skillet brownie with ice cream was heavenly.
Food was very decent, always long lines and need reservations, since it's in a tourist spot. I was most impressed for the attentive service our server has for us, always checking by sight if we have what is needed. Food is replaceable elsewhere though and is not enough to intrigue me to go back. We did have the lamb burger and the roasted chicken. Husband was very impressed w his burger, my chicken was undercooked. Will likely try other places and support other local restaurants.
Honestly the food was terrible. Pork chop wasn’t tender and came with strawberries that clearly had been frozen. Come on! And the value was pretty terrible, I walked out a little poorer and still hungry. Do better please
I LOVE Cookshop. Every bite and sip is expertly prepared. The cocktails are exquisite. We had the chicken and Greek burger and both were fantastic as well as the sides on the plate. Though stuffed we had ordered dessert - berry pavlova with yogurt whipped cream and basil ice cream. Amazing!
Go go go to Cookshop!
Lovely atmosphere. Tasty brunch. Good espresso coffee
Nice service delivered excellent food in a lively environment where it was difficult to hear a conversation.
Cookshop is a goto great neighborhood standard... for those of us lucky enough to be in the hood! The food and the service are consistently great, and the ambience is a happening one!
Waaaaaay tooooo loud
We went here based on a recommendation from a friend who told us it was close to the Atlantic theater which we had tickets for an 8 PM show on Saturday night. We were able to eat outside which was very private and quiet. The dishes are very innovative and tasty. We started with the pate, asparagus frittes and deviled eggs. All were delicious. For a main course I had the chilled seafood salad which I thoroughly enjoyed. The other diners had the Tabouli salad and pork chop which they also enjoyed. The portions are plentiful & the service was great. Without feeling rushed we got to our show with plenty of time to spare. I would recommend this place.
Delicious for with vegetarian options. Wait staff very friendly & helpful.
My fried chicken was over cooked. Should’ve sent it back.
Always the best with wonderful food and great service
