Cookshop Ratings and Reviews
Second time at Cookshop, this time for Brunch. Dinner menu, food and cocktails were much better. Low ratings because this place is truly a nightmare to get into- literally. The first time I thought okay just a busy night but again we were hardly able to get through the doors due to a line to get to the hostess. The line filled with angry young woman. We waiting 30 minutes passed our reservation to be sat. Placed in the middle of room, we were moved when asked however then under AC vent which was blasting meanwhile 35 degrees and raining outside. Room was extremely loud and cold. Waiting about 40 minutes passed reservation when I went for dinner. Hostess team- figure it out.
upbeat vibe, happy staff, good and great food - nicely presented and cooked to perfection. Attention to details by kitchen and wait staff. There is not a lot of room between tables and it seems like the place is always busy - so its not exactly relaxing. The menu is creative and the food is delicious. We all split our entrees, butternut ravioli, delcata squash, cod & salad. It was a pleasure.
Definitely recommend making a reservation for brunch on the weekend. Overheard wait can be up to an hour.
Ordered the goat cheese scone, oven baked eggs, and the beef burger. Food was cooked as we had requested. Would definitely come again! If you find yourself needing to kill time until your name is called, the Highline Hotel next door and a cute little coffee shop in the lobby as well.
Good coffee, cocktail, food. Good breakfast/brunch spot, but too popular. Crowds of people hanging near the edge of your table hoping you'll hurry to finish so they can sit down to brunch. Staff handles the masses with cool, and nice attentive service all around. Maybe not on the weekend? We've been there for dinner as well, and enjoyed attention to ingredients.
Beautiful space. Friendly on point service. Delicious food. Aromatic mushroom soup, although my personal preference is soup w a thicker broth. Scallops cooked perfectly with bright onion filled tarter sauce. Over the top brussel sprouts. Love! Cod light and moist. Will return when in the neighborhood.
What a great place! Busy as they are, they are so well organized: reserved tables are ready on time, servers are pleasant, attentive and prompt without nudging you to leave. The savory churro appetizer had me searching for recipes, and the cod in chowder was delicious, as was the bread. Not only that, but my martini was made exactly as requested (not always the case in restaurants with such an active bar).
This was my third time at Cookshop and I have loved it every time. I always choose vegetarian dishes and the flavors are so amazing I never miss the meat. The service is outstanding and atmosphere is fun. This is a truly special place. When I am in town again, I will definitely be back!
My roommates and I️ went here to celebrate moving into the neighborhood. Food was fantastic and seasonal, we will definitely be back! The staff surprised us with champagne to congratulate us on our recent move - so thoughtful! GREAT spot, highly recommended.
Was a late night dining experience after a concert for 3 friends and one late comer. We were seated immediately and our waitress was very attentive. We think she had many tables but we never felt neglected. The food was excellent, cod, lamb burger and pork chop. All top notch. Good wine choices and cocktails and the crowd was fun. We ended up closing the place. Definitely recommend.
The wine list here is phenomenal - large enough you have options from wherever you want, but concise enough you don't get lost or overwhelmed by the producers. Wines are also organic and mostly niche, each one has a story that draws you in. Ours was an Aglianico-Piedrossa blend -
Ragis - from Campania, made by a cancer-survivor. Full bodied and earthy, it went well with everything from my wife's grilled squid to my wagyu steak, which were themselves cooked to perfection.
Like the wine list the menu has something for everybody but doesn't bog you down with options. Not that the choices were easy - I had a hard time picking between the steak and the lamb - but overall I appreciate only having to choose across categories not within them.
The place was bustling on a Thursday but it didn't slow down the service. Overall great place to bring a bunch of friends to catch up or a girl who stands out a bit from the other strangers in New York. Would definitely come back.
I’ve come here a bunch and this time it fell short. The service was super slow. The bread never came. I asked for food with no onion and they did accommodate that. But every option on the menu is covered in onion and garlic (both of which I’m allergic to?... it’s just not the same as it was... it was very pricey I think for the food. The dessert was the best part. Just bummed that it’s not like it was.
It was everything we could hope for in providing a high quality lunch we could enjoy together. We made a reservation for 5, but somehow arrived about 30 minutes early. Despite the large crowd already there, they managed to put together a good table for us within less than 10 minutes. The food was superb, the waiter excellent and the food service flowed evenly. I highly recommend it, but make sure you make a reservation ... even for lunch.
The food was really good. However we had the chocolate peanut butter cake for dessert and it would be easier to eat if the cake was room temperature because the ganache solidified and it was kind of dense. Overall, our server was great and the music was diverse. Would come back!!
