What Insiders Are Saying
One of the few New York City restaurants you can count on for an excellent meal regardless of circumstance. Go for any meal or for a day on the patio.
Sat outdoors lovely spot. Ordered greek vegetables and vegetable furniture which ended up tempura fried but we dealt with it. Would def return. Nice atmosphere, helpful staff, great sauv blanc by the glass
Amazing food, excellent service!
Wonderful place for lunch or brunch! Service is very good, killer cocktails and in nice weather grab an outside table.
I have been a regular customer at the Cookshop for over a decade. Their food is outstanding, especially brunch. And, usually, service is o point.
However, this past Sunday was an exception. The crowd for brunch was huge. It seemed like every family in Chelsea with small children packed the place.
Even though we had reservations we ended up waiting 30 minutes before we were seated. Our server seemed very harried, probably because of the huge waves of customers flowing in and out. Babies screamed, toddlers ran about. We thought we somehow ended up at Chucky Cheese by mistake.
Our drinks were mediocre, which is unusual for Cookshop. The food was excellent as usual.
I’m not sure how the place became so insane since reservations are required, right? Please work on your crowd control, Cookshop!
Perfect for Sunday brunch....very busy for good reasons! Staff was welcoming and willing to please...reservations highly highly recommended.
We had brunch on a sunny Sunday morning there, sitting outside. If you can get a table outside, do so. It’s much quieter than inside, which is rather crowded and noisy. The food and service were excellent!
If you're in Chelsea looking for a nice sit down place to eat near the Highline, Cookshop is a great choice. Service was smooth and friendly. Ambiance is nice and dishes are presented in a lovely way. The actual taste of the food, however, lacks some flavor and inventiveness. But perhaps that matches the kind of yuppie/jcrew type clientele that they seem to serve.
I was a long standing customer at Cook Shop from 2013 - 2016. Unfortunately, I took my future mother-in-law to CookShop for a celebratory meal this past Sunday AM and both the experience, food and ambiance has fallen off considerably since 2016. Hopefully this was a one-off but it was quite disappointing.
Great experience. With so many places in NYC to eat, this is one I would go back to. The staff was friendly and helpful. Although they do not address any gluten free options on their menu, when I asked the waiter for my best options for a gluten free meal, he very nicely pointed out the items which could be prepared gluten free, which was most of the menu (except the vegetarian items). Two of us ordered hanger steak and the other ordered chicken. Also, the wine menu is very good. I was excited to find a Paul Hobbs Bramere Malbec. They publish a new menu each day but I don’t know how often it changes. Suggestion for restaurant: add to the menu “Many items may be prepared gluten free. Ask your server”. I have actually passed on going here in the past because they did not appear to have any gluten free options or address it on their menu. I’m glad I asked and went.
Food was unique but still simple and delicious. The staff was very considering and helpful the entire time. Definitely worth the reservation and wait
Our waiter Alfredo was excellent. The food was fresh, seasonal and delish! We sat outside so the noise level was fine for talking - inside was quite a bit louder. Will definitely return.
Thanks for. Ring wheel chair accessible.
The food is consistently fresh and delicious. First time I tried the fried chicken platter and it was better than mom used to make. Can’t wait to go back and try the cold seafood plate
The food is outstanding, fresh and delicious. The noise level is way too loud. Very difficult to hear and because so loud, everyone around is yelling at the dining companion making it even worse.
Dinner was great - Service very friendly and on point - too noisy for a conversation at a small table
Always enjoy Cookshop's blend of flavors and fresh take on classics. Great place for a Sunday night supper that is a cut above.
Wish had bottomless mimosas
love this place - always delicious and fun. I prefer to eat outside....inside is a bit noisy.
Great food, gluten free options, good coffee bar and bar menu, great ambience, great staff, great location. Will definitely come back!
Couldn’t be better!! Awesome food, very kid friendly (had a great table ready for us), excellent, friendly service!!
This restaurant is amazing. The food is fantastic. The best service we have ever had in a new york restaurant. Resverations are needed. Great view and outside dining in the summer time . This restaurant is now our go to restaurant, when the family wants to eat in new York city. I recommend this restaurant for all families, tourists, business lunches.
The is so fantastic food every one should try this restaurant once. Then you will be hooked on Cookshop. Can't wait to go back an eat more great food. 5 stars always.
Waiting close to an hour for food to come out and when it did it was all cold. Eggs were rubbery and pancakes were hard.
Great food, great people and incredible service. A rare gem.
Our 1st visit to Cookshop was fantastic! We ate outside in the beautiful weather and our server went above and beyond to ensure our food contained no peanuts or tree-nuts due to a food allergy in our party. Highly recommend the Deviled Egg tasting, it was delicious. The fried chicken lunch portion was great. It included 3 pieces of chicken, a buttermilk biscuit, the best coleslaw I ever had, a slice of watermelon, and 2 home-made brownies! It was all fresh, juicy, and the flavors of the coleslaw really popped! Look forward to going back. Oh, and it's less than a block off the High Line if you want walk the High Line after eating.
Wonderful neighborhood spot with amazing food, atmosphere, and service.
I always enjoy my meals at Cookshop - not sure why I haven't been back in a while. We shared a delicious snow pea salad with greens and a bright, tart dressing, and crab croquettes for appetizers that had a terrific harissa dressing. For mains, I loved my cold seafood salad with flavorful shrimp, salmon, and calamari on a bed of greens, and he had a lamb burger that was very tasty (but the bun was kind of oversized). They always have interesting cocktails too. I intend to go back soon!
loved the experience. staff very friendly and accommodating.
We love the place so we always go. They even know our names . Super accommodating and excellent service .

Super lovely brunch outside with a group before NYC Pride. Servers were so nice and food was delish.
Food was good and service was great. I’m not really a fan of the bland ambiance and high noise level but it’s in a good location and vibe was nice.
Fun and funky vibe with amazing food. Service was attentive and for a crowded Saturday they did not rush us out. Will definitely be going again.
My friends and I had a wonderful evening at Cookshop, but the experience was immeasurably enhanced by Lucas, our waiter. His descriptions of the various items on the menu were inventive and, as we learned, very accurate. His recommendations were spot-on, including his willingness to steer us away from a few items which might have been less exceptional than those we ordered. The restaurant was very noisy and made dinner conversation difficult to sustain even among old friends who had not seen each other in years. Lucas's attentive service helped us overcome that considerable drawback.
Always reliable and friendly. Service was a bit too pushy about moving the meal along and presumably flipping the table, but the food was great and the ambiance energetic and appealing
Awesome service, extremely wonderful staff.
We sat on the patio since I brought my dog with my and they were all SO wonderful with her. I would return here in a heart beat
Food was excellent and delicious
Nice spot but noise level was extreme. The food was very good for a late lunch. Everyone was great and professional.
Delicious breakfast. This very popular eating spot was open for breakfast, but not crowded at all. For breakfast (at least), it is NOT the place to see and be seen, but a great spot for a quiet conversation.
The desserts were outstanding! If we weren’t from out of town, we would have ordered some to go! All staff was extremely helpful with menu recommendations. Drinks were 👍👍
We’ll definitely be back!!!
Our server was wonderful! He was responsive, patient and accommodating, made great suggestions, and made us feel very welcome. He also communicated in a fun way and we enjoyed the entrees and the dessert he recommended.
