The Infatuation
8.4

One of the few New York City restaurants you can count on for an excellent meal regardless of circumstance. Go for any meal or for a day on the patio.

Ratings 8.0-8.5:The best way to think about restaurants in the low to mid 8′s is that these are the places you would absolutely go back to, anytime. These restaurants are ones that you want to bring a friend to, just so they can also experience the duck carnitas, or burger, or whatever dish the place is known for.

Cookshop is one of my go-to places for business breakfast meetings. The service is excellent and the menu, while small, is diverse.

We eat here every time we’re in Chelsea..3 or 4 times a year..lamb burger exception as is the roasted chicken !!

If you want to converse with table mates do not choose to dine inside.

Great casual spot to catch up with friends. Our waiter was helpful and patient. We chose the three cheeses and the radishes with butter and both were superb. The food at Cookshop is excellent, the room animated, wine selection varied, great cocktails, this place has cornered the market on food quality and comfort. The only concern, at times, it was hard to hear the conversation because of the cacophony in the room.

I love this restaurant! Great spot for a relaxed date. I also recently took some out-of-towners here - there’s something for everybody and they all loved it. Service is also reliably stellar.

Was just ok this time. Not the best service or best tasting food as previous visits, but still one of my favorites for brunch. You really can't go wrong with the entire menu

Our party of three asked for a table by the window. We were told by the hostess that the only open window table was reserved for a party of 5. About 15 minutes after we sat down a party of three was seated at that table. Other than that the service was exceptional. Although all of the food was very tasty, two of us had steaks that were so tough that it was hard to cut with a steak knife. I dont mind paying top dollar for a good steak but this poor quality steak was overpriced. Lastly, the seats are small and uncomfortable.

Enjoyed! Outdoor seating nice on warm sunny day. Indoors looked a bit too crowded and noisy. Waitress helpful with suggestions for my vegan daughter. Brunch food was delicious. Seated right at reservation time. High line entrance close- enjoyed a stroll .

Whenever I have friends visiting from out of town I bring them to Cookshop. Food is always delicious. The space is generous so you don’t feel crowded like in many other NYC restaurants.

Perfect place to stop for dinner after visiting the High Line and Chelsea art galleries.

The next time I eat here, I will ask to be seated outside. The trucks and sirens going up Tenth Avenue could not be worse than the noise level inside the restaurant. Food and service were great, but it was impossible to relax and enjoy them. I suspect the restaurant deliberately tortures its customers with loud noise to get them to leave fast, so they can turn over the tables quickly.

A lovely atmosphere, really delicious food - I had the lamb. My friend had some food restrictions and the waitress, manager, chef and staff were very accommodating. It seems to be a great neighborhood restaurant and would also make a great date place. I would come back here.

Cookshop was quite the unexpected surprise and it will now be my go-to place when I'm eating out. My husband and I are huge fans of Vic's, one of this group's other restaurants, and it's apparent that they bring the same inventive and creative focus to the food in all their restaurants because our meals were outstanding. The ingredients were fresh and inventively used, resulting in a truly impressive trek through all the dishes we shared. My favorites were the leek salad and the nettles/mushroom/ricotta entree but I tasted my husband's salmon and it was perfectly prepared: moist and delicate. The staff were great and welcoming, and although the place got a bit loud at times we still found the opportunity for our quiet conversation.

Staff couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. Split pea soup was excellent, chicken liver mousse was good, blue-cheese fritters lacked blue cheese, and a green salad was nearly inedible due to too much vinegar. Venison was nicely prepared but missed the mark as an overall expensive entree because of, again, too much vinegar in the underlying grain. Vegetarian cassoulet was modest--nothing wrong, nothing remotely memorable. Arctic char was good. Desserts all followed the same general pattern that wasn't our preference, so we skipped them. This was not our first visit, but all in all, it was disappointing .
