What Insiders Are Saying
One of the few New York City restaurants you can count on for an excellent meal regardless of circumstance. Go for any meal or for a day on the patio.
Loud rap music and fresh ingredients
The server was excellent and very efficient. Started with the mozzarella churros and Brussel sprouts. Both were phenomenal. My friend and I got the meat cassoulet and it was a huge portion! Big enough that I wish we split. Then we each got dessert (the oatmeal cookie and chocolate peanut butter cake. Both phenomenal. Overall meal and experience was excellent.
The food war excellent but the service was slow. I believe it's because everything is cooked to order.
Cookshop is a great restaurant. The food, service, and ambiance are always on point. Highly recommended place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or drinks in Chelsea.
Delicious food and fantastic service. Would definitely recommend.
The dood is good here as is the service. The noise level is high.
I was disappointed that they did not offer us a drink or any other type of compensation after they spilt food on my daughters back.
They were concerned but not too concerned!
Was fun and nice, the pizza has WAY too much spinach.
Great service. We called ahead to say we needed to make a show so had to be quick with lunch. The waitress came to the table and immediately made us aware she knew. Prompt and great service which gave us plenty of time to make the show. Exactly what we needed. Food was really good also!
I think there's a lot of things to like about this place - the Bloody Mary's are outstanding, the service is friendly, and the ambience is busy but inviting.
However, the food seemed to be very inconsistent in terms of price and portion. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros, which was a pretty generous portion. My partner ordered the Poach Eggs "Cilbur" which was honestly an appetizer, and almost the same price as my dish. Not only was the portion small, but it was served in a narrow, oblong bowl, which made it very difficult to eat.
It's not that we were disappointed... we just won't be rushing back. (Maybe just for the Bloody Marys!)
First of all... get a reservation... which we did. And they seated us on time. The best Bloody Marys too. Flavor , awesome flavor describes this restaurant. We had no room for dessert. The chicken was cooked like I was in France. The potatoes were amazing. When we return to NY we will go again
Sublime was our dinner. From the Raw King Mushroom Salad, to the Polenta Dumplings, to the Seafood Burger with a generous side of fennel citrus salad.
We topped it off with a trio of creamy and savory ice cream s. How could I forget to mention the ginger margaritas!
Cookshop felt different from our past visits because of the recent renovation. The acoustics were lively yet somehow felt noisier than before.
Kudos to our server Jordan - his suggestions, descriptions, and overall generous way, made us feel very much at home.
Sublime was our dinner.
Cookshop has has high-quality food that is well-prepared and generally well thought-out. Don’t expect to be able to converse easily, however, because the noise levels are very high. The chairs used to be some of the most uncomfortable around—thankfully they have recently changed those for more comfortable ones. A little thought would be helpful to lighten up the desserts.
Always a favorite.
Thank you cookshop for doing it right!
Met an old friend and we shared a wonderful meal together. The black sea bass was fantastic. That sauce! and the burrata appetizer was to die for. Our waiter was terrific. Just attentive enough. No rushing us at all. A great experience. I'll be back!
It got very crowded toward the end of our meal so it was loud and we lost the attention of our otherwise delightful waiter.
Besides this being a great neighborhood to check out (note the Highline hotel next door) this is just a great spot to dine. The food is healthy, the staff is friendly and professional, the atmosphere is upbeat and optimistic. And I could actually hear my friend from across the table.
Cookshop should be your new go-to for Sunday brunch. The combination of a lively, yet comfortable ambiance and FRESH seasonal items makes Cookshop a perfect base for #SundayFunday. After your lovely brunch, there are so many places to go to - The High Line (1-2 blocks away), Chelsea (only 2-3 blocks away), and even the piers (2 avenues away). I've read so many good things about Cookshop, and they are all true. This is the place for a healthy, fresh brunch or dinner with creative cocktails to pair each item you indulge in. Will definitely be coming again!
while hectic and loud , service is SO good and food is so yummy ,it is worth
The food and atmosphere was very upbeat and cool and comfortable. The wait staff were very nice professional and accommodating.
We loved everything about the restaurant.
Allowed children to sit at the bar. Was very disruptive
I'm starting to feel like all of these "great" restaurants that you hear about are just really good marketing and OK food. Cookshop being one of them.
I'll start with the good- servers and hostess are amazing. Like another level of customer service. Thank you.
Food- blehhhhh whyyy. This is based off the Brunch Menu.
Egg & sausage Sandwich
fried egg, house-made breakfast sausage,
cheddar, spicy roasted jalapeno sauce,
pickles, brioche bun, potato hash // 1 6
The sausage was ok, kind of tasteless and not your typical breakfast maple syrupy sausage, it tasted like a frozen turkey burger. Jalapeno sauce? The only way I'd realize jalapeno sauce was on this sandwich is by reading the menu. Small side of potato hash and some weird salad that was basically tasteless.
PoaCHed eggs & shiitake mushrooms
porcini broth, kale, brown rice, sarvecchio // 17
In Cookships defense maybe we're supposed to realize that this is egg and mushroom soup by "broth." So that's on us. But make no mistake this is mushroom soup. Sarvacchio is parm cheese. So mushroom and egg soup with some cheese for $17.00. Yikes.
Overpriced and hyped :(
Seated 20 mins late for our reservation but very well treated and very good food.
My favorite restaurant in NYC.
From the food to the exceptional service to the ambiance, Cookshop has it all.
Food was as delicious as it looked from peering in the windows. Great balance between casual vibe and tasty choices. I recommend ordering many things and sharing. Short and sweet wine list with just the right amount of options.
For some reason wasn’t as 4 previous visits. We had to wait for everything for quiet awhile, had to ask for bread, 2 dishes that we ordered weren’t put into the system and arrived much much later (after we asked the waitress for it) Radishes finally arrive, but without bread ... Steak that I had there twice before and was very tasty was not right this time; mostly fat and just a bad cut of meat. Couldn’t eat it.
Very much surprised. My son kept asking to go here but now....well.. you know
I really like to give good reviews and not happy about this one
Perfect as always!
Welcoming, great table, food was amazing and the service was attentive. Beautiful space to dine in.
Great food and service
Cookshop never ceases to Omaze me! I’ve been coming here for over a decade now and it’s a magical experience every single time. Food is outstanding and the team is just a joy. Thank you Cookshop! Love y’all!
Delicious food and courteous staff. It is a lovely restaurant!
Have been coming back since its start. Always my go-to for special occasions or week night meals. Just excellent.
Cookshop is one of my “go to” places. Always great food and very enlightened and easy service.
We had great service and delicious lunch
Really great for lunch - beautiful salad and glass of wine.
Food was way too oily, heavy, not delicate and lacked vitality in veggies etc.
Really welcoming staff, knowledgeable and great at what they do.
