What Insiders Are Saying

The Infatuation
8.4

One of the few New York City restaurants you can count on for an excellent meal regardless of circumstance. Go for any meal or for a day on the patio.

Ratings 8.0-8.5:The best way to think about restaurants in the low to mid 8′s is that these are the places you would absolutely go back to, anytime. These restaurants are ones that you want to bring a friend to, just so they can also experience the duck carnitas, or burger, or whatever dish the place is known for.

A good eat with decent cocktails. That's all. Something that made us impression was that the staff was walking around every 5 minutes to check who is eating what and how much time it takes between appetizers and mains. They didn't said anything but it was super obvious and strange.

I had a quick change of plans and needed to grab the food to go and they were so understanding. The waitress let me sit at the table we had reserved and offered me water while I waited. Can’t wait to go back to actually sit down and enjoy the great food!!

I love Cookshop and it has been pretty consistent in the past few years. The server was nice. I wish they had asked about food restrictions, I didn't realize that the ceviche was with scallops. I didn't love the lasagna, it was too rich/ oily. The special, lamb chops, was good according to my colleagues. We got little desert bites on the house. Overall a nice experience.

Very busy place, food is tasty, service is great!! Everything comes out fairly quickly. Looks like the kitchen is managed very well. Food runners are doing a great job too!
Everything is fresh, tasty, we love the fact that the steak is grassfed, Not sure if the potatoes are organic (it’s so important to eat organic especially when it comes to certain produce like potatoes). I must say I would reduce the French fry portion to half, it’s impossible to finish the entire portion and not to mention not healthy.
We had the hairloom tomatoes, hamburger, steak, empanada, charcuterie board, lasagna. 😋😋
Staff is extremely friendly, we are always greeted with a smile!
Dessert: I always hope for bite size dessert and I got it here!! Peanut butter pops(they are dipped in dark chocolate-I m in heaven!
(I did not like the white part of it but that’s just me, so I ate around it) loved!!!!

My friends and I had an amazing experience at Cookshop for Saturday brunch! The atmosphere is cozy and although not quiet, you can still hear your friends without any straining. The food was delicious and the service was great! I highly recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant was an absolute delight...very casual with indoor and outdoor dining.....never expected to find the high quality and inventive food we were served. Menu was small...but each dish packed a flavourful punch! Service excellent. Good wine list. Will definitely be back and also recommend to friends.

Had a great brunch at Cooktop. Great location near the Highline. After walking the highline we were ready to eat. Sat outside it was a very nice area. The food was very good. Huevos Ranchero was very good. Hamburger and French toast were all great. Friendly staff.

I came for Sunday brunch before I saw 1pm show on Broadway. Cookshop opened at 10am and takes reservations, which was very convenient. They're entire staff was friendly and helpful. The menu wasn't huge, but a lot of variety for everyone. We had the Burrata to start and Beignets for dessert. Absolutely delicious. Our entrees were poached eggs with beefsteak tomatoes and baked eggs with bacon. Again, delicious. On top of a friendly establishments, and wonderful food, we also were not rushed. We were able to relax and order a few rounds of drinks as we enjoyed our Sunday morning. Definitely will be back and highly recommend.

Service and food were both great. I made my reservation on Open Table and indicated it was my brother's birthday. They actually paid attention and surprised him with a cupcake and candle. Not many restaurants actually pay attention when a Birthday is noted. Kudos to Cookshop!!

cannot rave enough about the beautiful generous plates of starters and mains. We shared 3 appies and 2 mains..the server was right on point about our wine and we were never forgotten. Cookshop experience will stay with us until we return next visit to this amazingly friendly city.

Went to the Cookshop for dinner prior to going to the Joyce Dance Theater and had a really good time. The restaurant is pretty, nice and light. The noise level was not quiet but not a problem. Our server (Celia) was great, friendly and helpful. The food was very good. Loved the complimentary sparkling water and the whole wheat bread. I really liked the chicken which was nicely seared and a nice sized portion. My sister and my husband had the sea scallops which were very sweet and also perfectly seared. We had salads to start which were also very good. Yes, I would highly recommend Cookshop and we do plan to return.

Cookshop is our go-to. We've been to many other fancy, schwanky 'foodie' restaurants but this place is consistently great, along with good selection of wines by the glass and perfect cocktails.

Cookshop is always a must eat brunch for us when we are in NYC! Their heuvos rancheros are probably the best I have ever had! It was our anniversary and our server surprised us with champagne to celebrate! What a fantastic way to start your anniversary off! The food and drinks are all great! Their menu has just the right amount of variety and can please any palate! Post meal, take a walk along the Highline as there is an entrance just across the street from the restaurant!

Thank you Cookshop for always being a place to go back to when we visit NYC!
