What Insiders Are Saying
One of the few New York City restaurants you can count on for an excellent meal regardless of circumstance. Go for any meal or for a day on the patio.
Food was tasty
Food was great, service was a little slow.
All good except for being at the table next to the kitchen with its open fire oven!! It was a little too hot for comfort.
Cookshop is one of my favorite restaurants in the city! The food is fresh, creative and delicious. The outside seating is amazing. inside it can be very loud, but the energy is fun. Order the burrata and the scallops!
Went at 6:00 on a week night and the noise level was low. However by dessert it was too loud to talk to my date. Food and service were excellent.
Adequate but uninteresting lunch menu. Salad looked good on paper but was tasteless. Would not recommend.
Had somewhat grouchy service but love the food and ambiance. Wine is a rip-off here though
Reservation was right on time, but I did NOT like where they planned to seat us. It was a table for 2 right smack in the middle of a very high traffic area, off the end of a walkway. Wait staff would come down the aisle and have to do a u-turn around you to serve tables along the wall. Right away I asked (nicely) if we could be seated elsewhere, and we got a lovely table right next to the window. Big difference. The noise level was still high, but my husband and I could carry on a conversation. I watched the poor couple they sat at our original table get noticeably bumped and jostled throughout the evening. I felt badly for them!!
Seasonal green salad was simple and fresh. My husband enjoyed his salmon. I never order chicken when eating out (it's my staple at home) but I saw the roasted chicken dish at another table and couldn't resist. It was wonderful. Carrot cake for dessert was top notch.
Our waiter was extra attentive, but not intrusive.
Would go back, would like to try sitting outside as well.
Delicious food, dedicated service and delightful atmosphere!
First time there but not the last time! We are real "MID-TOWN" centered people but we will make a point of taking the trek down to the low 20's for Cookshop. Great experience!
My last two visits have been very disappointing - waiting 1.5 hours for food because the kitchen “lost our ticket” to getting runny eggs / bitter coffee that I could not eat / drink. Service is also noticeably worse as the servers are only interested in taking orders / giving checks ... no actually “service.” Go elsewhere.
Outstanding spot for a HighLine breakfast or brunch. Just off the 20th street stairs. Sat outdoors on a great Saturday morning, but the table was the furthest from the entrance. Our waiter didn't look enough our way to give us attention when we wanted it, and that was more than once. We weren't in a hurry and were looking to linger, but it was frustrating. Food was excellent and drinks were substantial.
A group of five girls went and we just shared multiple plates so we could try as much of the menu as possible. Everything we ordered was delicious and the sommelier was very good at recommending paired wines. We loved our dinner and will definitely go back!
Menu was great as usual. Main challenge was waiting 25 minutes for a table even though we had a reservation.
Cookshop has always been extremely careful about allergies or special needs. We had some varying needs at out table.
If you're looking for a quieter dinner I recommend sitting outside.
I brought my dog, as I usually do, and they were very accommodating (and brought her house-made) treats.
The food was great! We started off with the buratta, which was amazing. Then I had the duck and roasted carrots. My husband had scallops and the creamed spinach. Everything tasted wonderful and you could tell the ingredients were good quality.
The food is good and fresh and unusual.
Love Cookshop! Always treated well from the minute we walk in until the minute we leave. Menu healthy, creative and delicious. And great cocktails, too! And seeing Brooke Shields at the bar on wed an added bonus!
Excellent all around.
Very good experience. Thanks to Kira and the service team.
Cookshop was AWESOME! The food was very tasty from appetizer to dessert. We had the dulce de leche cream puffs, the zucchini frittata, and the cheddar onion scramble and everything was great. The biscuit that came with the scramble was freakishly good and I don't even like bready stuff.
Everyone was also very, very nice. It was our anniversary, which I'd noted on the reservation, and they brought us some tasty sparkly cucumber drinks and a cupcake at the end of our meal to mark the occasion.
I highly recommend the brunch!
I took my friend to Cookshop for a birthday brunch, and our waiter was the BEST: always checking in on us, answering our questions about the food and what he recommended, nice, genuine smile. We were there longer than most patrons and had really good banquette seats, and not once did our waiter tell us to move it along. In fact, when I told him it was my friend's birthday, he produced a chocolate cupcake with fabulous whipped cream and a candle, and wished her the best! He also gave us a taste of Calvados after I'd been mulling it over but couldn't pay $25 for a glass.
It was such a festive time and we have our waiter (tall and thin, short hair, big, kind eyes) to thank for it, 100 percent. He was such a good guy I'll go back just to say hi to him.
It was fine. Not great, not bad, but just fine. Biscuits are delicious, eggs were slightly under done, and coffee refills were slow.
Wonderful service, excellent cuisine, can’t wait to go back!
Experience was great but made that way by our waiter., he was exceptional !
The menu is limited, but has a sampling of each type food. Everything we ordered was excellent. Service was A++,
Absolutely delicious food, attentive service, overall excellent experience. This is my fourth time at Cookshop and it doesn’t disappoint.
It was a lovely NYC evening and we sat outside. Jordan was our fabulous server. He described the rose wine with great expertise and made it sound so yummy ,I HAD TO order it. He was right....it was fabulous. The halibut was great and the courses were served in a timely but not rushed manner. We can't wait to go back.
Sat outside at cookshop last night and the entire evening was perfect! Great service, awesome cocktails (loved the Paloma) and the food was delicious! We had the fava bean hummus and the scallops. Will definitely be back to try their brunch!
Always excellent, always consistent, great wine selection. For the cost, the value exceeds expectations.
A night out with grade school friends
not enough choice of salads. dressing on shrimp salad was much too salty.
Always an excellent choice with attentive staff and inventive menu. Bluefish tapenade was an unexpected treat. Especially wonderful to sip a drink sitting outside.
Love Cookshop. Food and service are both top notch.
Parents in town.
Delivers on its promise. Great ambiance, nice servers, solid wine list with options for all budgets, nice cocktails, great for outdoor seating (even though we chose to sit inside). The foods was excellent. We had the burrata salad, asparagus fries and oysters to start. For mains, I had the lamb burger without the bun and my friends both had chicken. We all liked the food. I wish they offered oysters by the dozen with a discount which I mentioned to our server. So a very good experience all around. This was my second time there and I will go back again.
Cookship continues to evolve while holding true to their use of local, seasonal ingredients. Service is friendly and efficient. Earthy, approachable food that always satisfies.
Great standby. Always good food. It was a little loud at dinner time.
Amazing all around. One of the best servers I’ve ever met. Her name is Mary
I've been to Cookshop maybe 10 times in the past 3 or 4 years and have never had a bad meal. It's one of my goto restaurants in New York because I know I'm going to be happy.
