What Insiders Are Saying
One of the few New York City restaurants you can count on for an excellent meal regardless of circumstance. Go for any meal or for a day on the patio.
Wonderful from start to finish. Delicious as always. Attentive service. Beautiful space.
In a lively and quite noisy ambience, the food is very good, although the menu is somewhat limited. The service was attentive and prompt.
Really extraordinary food. Never can go wrong. A bit loud, a shame to compete with music and noise, as otherwise a fabulous place.
everything good and nice, but too noisy to have a conversation over dinner!
Wrote my review on Yelp.. been here many times but the service, lack of attention to the table and the screw up of food delivery to the table is unacceptable of a restaurant on this level. Been here several times and loved it. Monday night was an epic fail.
Amazing food and Drinks
Sunday brunch was buzzy and fun. Food delicious, service impeccable - just as good as when I last visited from the UK 7 years ago.
Small space with outside seating for you and a puppy friend. Outstanding wine list with helpful sommilier...menu was broad enough for all tastes with meticulous kitchen craft...also vegan delights in appetizer, main, and dessert sections...room noise is huge but so are the flavors...book it
The food was good and the restaurant was very nice.
Can't believe I have lived in NYC for 15 years and never been here before, but this may become a regular. The food was great. The drinks were terrific, and our waiter was superb. So pleased!!!
Creative and seasonal food in a friendly setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our server, Kingston, was very attentive without being intrusive and always seemed to know what we needed and would like. Even the hostesses were so friendly!
Four of us had four different entree and none were very good...my cold seafood dish had a different sauce on each different seafood, it made no sense and 6 big radishes? And a bowl of Tartar sauce which made no sense as all the seafood had different sauces, it was a mess!!!
The food was decent, although my medium rare steak was quite tough, and the service was attentive, although perhaps a bit too much so as the waiter poured me an extra glass of wine ($18) that I didn't order, and then charged me for it...fortunately he was able to remove the charge after the issue was raised.
The staff were overwhelmingly accommodating and the food was exceptional level . Just a fantastic night out even though we rushed the staff !! Thank you !
So creative and so delicious... the staff is lovely and the atmosphere is joyful...
Best chicken on a salad. I would eat that every day if I could.
Great food! I would go back. I had the lamb entree and it was amazing.
Colin was an awesome server and he really made my mom feel special on mothers day. All the food was great!
Love it! Everything we had was fresh and delicious!
As always amazing lunch at cookshop!
Took my parents here, and we enjoyed everything we ordered. The huevos rancheros was so tasty, and that’s coming from a bunch of San Diegans! The beignets were a hit, not too sweet, but oh so flavorful. The frittata w asparagus was cheesy, yet light and fresh. We ended w the crumb cake and a scoop of apple gelato, which was the perfect end to the meal without being overstuffed. We also had the pomegranate fizz, beet juice, and rhubarb cocktail, all of which were cheery accompaniments to our meal. The staff is incredible w service! So attentive and professional!
Service and ambience were ok but kitchen got order wrong We asked for no garlic and it was loaded. Also, salad was inedible because dressing was a half bottle of red wine vinegar
Joshua was our server and was an absolute delight. However, it would be nice if the restaurant made their gluten free options more prominent on their menu. Cookshop is a great place for gluten free options but they don’t have any annotations on the menu indicating that. If we hadn’t asked about gluten free options, I’m not sure if we would have been told. Overall the food was amazing (especially the gluten free options!!)!!!
We had a bunch of apps -- Asparagus frites - light, fluffy ,didnt overpower the vegetable. We also tried the buttermilk wings, very tender. We were in a rush to make the theater and the waitor was accommodating and got us out in time.
Always my favourite place when visiting NYC. Good place for work meetings and dinner with friends
Food is consistent and very delicious. Service is what makes Cookshop stand out! Always a great experience.
I have eaten at the Cookshop many times and always enjoyed the food and service, BUT this time the noise level was unbearable. I can no longer recommend it unless something is done to cut the noise level down by 2/3. I could barely hear my dinner partner who sat across the table from me and even then only every other word. I know that some restaurant owners think noise attracts customers, especially younger customers. I do not know a single person of any age who likes noisy restaurants. These days everyone that I know decide where to eat based on the food, the ambience and the noise level.People go out to eat AND have CONVERSATION. That wasn't happening at Cookshop . It is simply not civilized!
Awesome trendy restaurant in a cool neighborhood. Great ambiance and vibe.
We had a great waitress, great food, our reservation was saved and honored as soon as we got in. Price was within the range we expected. I'd definitely go back!
I have been to cookshop many times but this is the first time I had a not so great stomach later. Maybe something I ate did not agree with me ? But had a bad night ...
Rainy horrible day led to being late, yet the staff were accommodating and helpful every step of the way. Noise level more tolerable than most restaurants, decor was simple yet bright and welcoming. Food was fresh and delicious - burger was terrific as was my companions breakfast sandwich. cService was warm and friendly every step of the way. Will definitely be back - tables outside would be very inviting in good weather.
Amazing service and food. Delicious, fresh and innovative dishes. The whole group couldn't stop talking about the meal!
Cookshop made our anniversary dinner very nice!! Great food and good energy!
Extremely popular, polished restaurant in a chic neighborhood. Clean and modern. The food is well-described in an ambitious menu with expectations whetted for a special luscious meal. I felt that the expectations did not match the actual food that was served. It all looked very appealing. Tastes and textures were slightly off: hot chocolate that was not hot, a salad that was overly dressed, French fries that were over-cooked, a grain salad that was so-so. In short, unless you are a hipster and into a noisy trendy place where you are treated very well, this is probably not the best place to eat. If you want to enjoy a conversation and have really tasty food, then maybe go somewhere else.
Huevos rancheros were delicious. Service was not just excellent, but friendly.
Cookshop remains one of my main go-to spots. Recently went there for lunch with a friend who was visiting from out of town. The food, as usual, was fantastic. But the noise level was ear-splitting -- an all-too-common feature of Lower Manhattan restaurants. Our reservation was at 2 in the afternoon, for Peter's sake, and we had to ask for another table because we couldn't hear ourselves think much less converse with each other as adults. The person who took our food order must have just had a Botox treatment, because she displayed absolutely no facial expression whatsoever. The sommelier who delivered our bottle of Chablis was quite personable, but once the food arrived we were left on our own. Our wine glasses weren't refilled, and no one really stopped by to check on us. The check was summarily dropped on our table without our having been asked whether we wanted coffee. (We did.) Cookshop remains a real star, especially for the Chelsea neighborhood, and I will undoubtedly continue to go there. But they need to step up their game when it comes to service and ambiance.
Great food and the service was outstanding.
If you want the next best thing to mom’s home cooking Cookshop is the place to go. Afterward’s you can walk off the meal on the Skyline across the street.
We found the interior to be extremely loud and the tables close. Very difficult to have a conversation.
We also found the interior to be warm - like 76-78 degrees and opted to eat outside. Amazing that some places don’t understand the 70-72 degree sweetspot for crowds - but how all of the 5 star restaurants get it always right
