We stayed at the W Hotel and ate at Cook Hall before a concert. It was busy as expected; the bar gets packed pre- and post-concert and the restaurant fills up too. We met a couple at the bar and decided to give up our reserved table to sit there. The bartender (who became our server) was nice enough but had very little personality for such a vibrant place. He was efficient enough, just not very friendly. Food came out on time. Shrimp and grits were hot and good. Pork sliders were warm but not hot (they had sat under a warmer waiting for the shrimp, we guessed) but they were pretty good too. Cocktail, wine and beer prices are good and they advertise a Happy Hour, although in smaller print you're told it doesn't apply on event night, which is pretty often since the American Airlines Center is across the street. All in all, not bad on a wintry evening when you don't want to venture too far away from the hotel and the concert venue.

WE JUST HAD APPETIZER/LIGHT DINNER WHICH WERE VERY GOOD. ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD WAS THAT WE THOUGHT WE ORDERED WINE OFF OF THE 'HAPPY HOUR' MENU ONLY TO FIND OUT WE MISSED NOTE THAT SAID 'NO HAPPY HOUR WHEN EVENTS GOING ON AT AMERICAN AIRLINE CENTER!'
WAITER DID NOT BRING THAT TO OUR ATTENTION EVEN WHEN WE ORDERED IT. ... DID NOT THINK THAT WAS THE BEST SERVICE AS WOULD HAVE GONE FOR THE BETTER WINE CHOICE FOR $3 MORE THAN THE REGULAR PRICE OF THE WINE WE GOT.
NEED TO BE MORE OBSERVANT OBVIOUSLY!!!

Love the atmosphere and proximity to AAC. It took a long time for the server to take our drink orders, and we waited quite a while for our food to arrive. Unfortunately, it was just ok. Chicken soup was really bland (although it looked beautiful), but my green salad was very nice.

Was there on Saturday night, they had two servers and bartender for the whole restaurant. Ran out of all of their beer on tap. Whoever manages that restaurant should be fire for mismanagement.

First visit to Cook Hall. Went before a Stars game. The location was great for before a show or game at American Airlines Arena. The food was good. We had pork sliders, salad, brisket, Mac n cheese and the spread trio. Service was slow and unattentive. We had to ask three people before we got refills of water. They were out of the first two beers we ordered and never brought the wine. Would recommend it based on the location and scene.

Maybe it was because it was a Sunday night but the staff was super attentive and friendly. Thought we would try this place since we were going to a concert at the AAC.

We ordered an appetizer that took longer than expected so the sous chef actually brought out another one for us to nosh on until we received the one we ordered (try the hummus and bruschetta app's - yummy). My husband has the burger (which was huge and delish). I had the southern fried chicken sandwich. It was spicy but really good. Both came with fries.

To top it off, we had the same sous deliver two delicious little chocolate pieces which were just the right finish to our meal. We will return again to Cook Hall!

The good: The service was excellent! The hostess, bartender & waitstaff were wonderful! Very attentive & accommodating. The Spring Rolls were delicious! The bad: my dinner was, eh, mediocre at best. The Farmers Chicken was dry & flavorless. My husband & I would walk past Cook Hall on our way to Mavericks games & the smell from the restaurant is what brought us in. The food did not live up to the delicious aroma. Disappointing.

I made a reservation for this restaurant, showed up and it was closed!! I even received an email to confirm. The restaurant had different hours listed on different sites. I'm not sure why Open Table let me make a reservation for a place that wasn't open. My evening was almost ruined, we were scrambling to find another restaurant at the last minute. Plus we had to pay for parking multiple times due to changing restuarants.

We have eaten here many times in the past but this was the best. We were attending the Paul Simon concert with friends and this was the perfect stop. HOWEVER, it was so good that we will go back just to have dinner. The service was great and we totally enjoyed the "pre-show" dining. So much better than when it was Craft!!

Our first table was sticky so we asked to be moved and were accommodated immediately. I ordered a coffee and our server handed me a spoon from the utensil container on our table. The spoon was crusted with chocolate icing so I handed it to the server and grabbed another spoon from the same container. SAME THING...dirty spoon. Leaves me wondering about the cleanliness of all dinnerware. YUCK!

Love the ambiance of this restaurant! Its quiet and looks upscale. The food wasn't incredible but I enjoyed what I ate and it was reasonably priced. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating - we even made sure to request her when we came back for a drink after the hockey game. I would definitely recommend Cook Hall if you're looking for a tasteful and inexpensive meal in the Victory Park area.

Went here with my son prior to a Saturday night Mavs game because all other good nearby options were booked solid. The place was less than half full, which should have been our signal to cut and run. The service was amiable but of the quality one would expect in a restaurant with limited business. The food? My son ordered pork sliders which tasted fine. But even by slider standards, they were tiny, think silver dollars. 3 for $14, no sides. My $16 burger was two razor thin patties with no taste. A burger from the concession stand at the arena would have been a better option. The W had an outstanding restaurant when it first opened. This place is an embarrassment.

Food was great! Service was a bit slow, but that was probably because it was immediately before the Star's game and there were a lot of patrons.

Ambiance has a bit of a crafty vibe, great for an occasion.

Love the atmosphere here. We came for pre-game dinner and drinks. I like the food here better than The Happiest Hour. We got the mezza app, duck tacos, pork sliders and the truffle Mac & cheese - all were excellent but portions are smaller. Amanda our server was attentive. I’d come back here for pre-game again.

We came here for dinner before a concert at AA Center. I had called ahead to ask if there was a limited menu and was told no. The limited menu was only if you ate in the Living Room Bar. So, it was disappointing to see a limited bar menu, which was overpriced. I probably won’t come back to see their full dinner menu.

Overall nice experience. We ate dinner there before gong to a concert at AA center. Not posted on their web site is when there is an event at the AA center, they have a limited menu. Many of the items listed on the web site menu are not available. That is why the ratings are 3s and not 5s. Wish i knew of the ilmited menu before making the reservations.

The food was terrible - we left most of it. The crispy duck tacos were mushy meat tacos with some slaw. The chicken sandwich - the chicken was tasteless on the burnt side and half the size of he bun, the bun dry and the slaw looked past it's best. We left most of the food. The waitress "whatever" ed us during a conversation re the quality of the food. Shocking all round.

This visit to Cook Hall was for a couple of reasons...a girls get together and for Restaurant Week of course! It was not packed at all, very quiet, our waiter was awesome, he even had a beautiful flower arrangement placed at our time. It was so sweet. Our food was brought our in a timely manner, hot and fresh, and it was exactly how we liked it. The only thing that could have been different was the spaghetti that I ordered, it was not seasoned at all, the tomato sauce was fresh, but on the flip side, the Bourbon Pecan Pie was AMAZING!

What a disappointment. The stylish W Hotel should do so much better than this bland attempt at a gastro-pub. Fried chicken bites? Popcorn shrimp? Am I at Popeyes? Uninspired meze...duck tacos that would be fine at a fast food spot...spaghetti, it all seemed like corporate food service, which I guess it is. Our server was friendly and overall the service was good (excellent team effort, which I appreciate). The room still has elements of Craft, which really was special. I understand that the hotel may want something more approachable, but they really need to start over with this spot. Also, how can a hotel restaurant close at 10 pm on a night when 16,000 people are streaming out of a concert next door?
