Convivium Osteria Ratings and Reviews
The roasted quail appetizer with figs in a port wine reduction is to die for. There were 3 of us and we split two of them 3 ways. The flavor is off the charts delicious. My Mom is 90 and eats very little so we always share a main course. We ordered 2 red snappers. The fish was grilled to perfection and beautifully plated with a delicious fish broth, capers, olives, heirloom tomatoes, spinach and boiled potato slices. Although the restaurant is often categorized as Italian, the food seems to have a very upscale Portuguese flavor. This restaurant is a hidden gem in Brooklyn. It was my Moms birthday and they kindly brought dessert with a candle. The flourless chocolate cake was a decadent pleasure.
I took my staff here for our end of the gardening season dinner. I like to choose an elegant place with delicious food for a special celebration. Convivium did not disappoint in any area!
We shared many delicious appetizers and all had different entrees and desserts. Only downside: no cocktails but no one seemed to mind.
I have been dining at Convivium for many years and they are always consistent. Although spirits are no available, their wine list is great. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a place with good food, wine, friendly staff and good ambiance.
Delicious, savory Italian food in a rustic, authentic setting. The wine cellar was a bit noisy--the laughter of one large party bounced off the brick walls--so if you are going for quiet conversation you might want to choose your seating carefully. Also, many of the appetizers were quite heavy--liver, sautéed garlic shrimp, etc.-- and could almost serve as a small main course. For a cozy autumn or winter meal, though, this is a great choice.
We had a great experience at Convivium. The burrata was soooo good - melt-in-your-mouth fresh. Two of us had different pasta dishes and one had short ribs on polenta - all of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. For dessert we shared a blueberry pie with coconut in the topping - a unique and tasty combination. We shared a bottle of white rioja that was exquisite. The atmosphere is cozy and the service knowledgeable and just attentive enough. I look forward to a return visit.
Meal started with 2 salad selections (Farro and Endive and Kale)
Both nicely prepared and served with good bread and olive oil.
Our diners were Ravioli w/ Duck Ragu and Red Snapper.
The ravioli worker oh so well with the duck sauce...Red snapper fresh and pan seared.
Apple tart and coffee....
Very nice staff, plenty of attention, out the door for less than $100 excluding tip.
my niece was in town, and I wanted to take her out to a lovely dinner, in the area. Our dinner was delicious, we were able to stay for 4 hours, and the service was wonderful all night. I asked for a very quiet spot , and it turned out they had multiple rooms - all nice, and I think they opened up a room for us. All in all, it was a perfect evening, and I will definitely go there in the future.
My wife and I have come to this Osteria four times now, each time before a show at the Barklay's center. We've always been impressed by the super fresh and delicious seafood. My wife had the Bronzino this time and it was superb. I had the lamb and it was also excellent.
Our usual wine, the Polvanera, was unavailable but the waitress suggested another Primitivo, the Feudo di Santa Croce. An excellent full bodied red that we thoroughly enjoyed.
Thanks again! We will be back!
I rarely write reviews on Yelp but after having such an unbelievable experience yesterday I felt compelled to write one. I hosted a casual engagement dinner with both families and we had reserved the back area; intimate setting that can accommodate 10 people. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel special, service was impeccable, especially Angel who is the host and makes sure everyone is happy. He recommended great wines from Tuscany ( it was a chianti-wine-like and a great sangrantini) can't beat their delicious Italian food, especially the pastas. We had people ranging in ages (1 year old to 90 years old) and the place couldn't have been more accommodating. Highly suggest this place if you're looking to host a larger family dinner! They also have a private wine cellar for larger parties that is truly spectacular. Great homey, intimate, spot; felt like I was in someone's home in Tuscany. I will be coming back in a regular basis.
