The overall experience was excellent. Very authentic feel for the food, servers and surroundings. It would be great if they would offer more seafood entree options. My girlfriend and I are pescatarian - having only 1 entree (sea bass) was limiting - but it was excellent. The apps were really wonderful. I would return more often with more entree choices. Providing gluten free pasta options would also give us flexibility.
Wine cellar was a delightful place to have a dinner with friends.
Nice place. Good food. Didn't feel overly welcome.
This place is so legit and so delicious. Great wine list, and the food was wonderful. The staff and owner were so hospitable we felt like we were visiting someone’s home. Recommend this place highly and we will definitely be back.
Love this place! You will be transported to another place and time. You will be treated well. You will eat well. You will drink well. Try to get seated downstairs where the ambiance is fantastic!
Great experience. I went on a quite tuesday night. Food is outstanding. Pasta with pesto was unbelievable. I love when the wait staff is chatty and Angel made us feel so comfortable . Also the other man was all over the place and our water glasses were always filled.
We came early on a weekday, about 6pm. It was very quiet in there and we got to pick any table we wanted. We ordered the artichoke, the gnudi, the tagliatelle, the tiramisu, and a special peach tart.
The artichoke was very good, but I am not sure if it’s worth $15. The oil was nice to suck up after! The gnudi was very good and also the sauce was yummy to suck up after. The tagliatelle was not my favorite tagliatelle with lamb ragu, but still very good. I must say I order tagliatelle with lamb ragu at almost every Italian restaurant, so I have a bit of an obsession.
The tiramisu was delicious! And it was just what I needed. I didn’t love the peach tart, but my significant other did.
The service was wonderful and it is a super cute place/ overall 4 stars from me.
It was deafeningly noisy. There was only one wait person who was also the host and the busboy. Convivium has been around long before gentrification and always wonderful. The wait person did acknowledge that two employees had called in sick that day to explain the long wait. He didn’t charge for the one glass of wine for our inconveniences. The food was fantastic and hoping this was a one time thing.
Advertisement promised 50% of Sundays. This was not true.
They are no longer offering half priced bottles of wine on Sundays. That should be changed in the description on Opentable
Fantastic overall. Such a great ambiance - from the decor to the homey neighborhood feel. Food was excellent.
Very rude service; even if you made a reservation, tries to fill up the seats that no one want (i.e. sharing a massive table) even if they are other empty tables available. Slow service - had to go up to ask for the check etc.
Convivium was great.
It’s a small space with nice decor in a rustic Italian style with copper pans and other interesting artefacts dotted around.
We liked it and we felt at home straight away. We had nice seats at a large table by the window.
We were two adults and a 10 year old boy and we each had three courses, all of which were very tasty indeed.
My prawn starter (4 large) was delicious, as was my main, tagliatelle in a beautiful sauce. I finished with a very nice panna cotta. Clean plates all around!
The owner’s wife, Michelle, and her staff looked after us so well.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the intimate ambience in Convivium and we would recommend it to anyone.
With a bottle of red, some sparkling water and a tip, our nine courses came in at just under €200.
A bargain, we thought, considering the service and the quality of the food.
Magical place, highly recommend for date night in the downstairs wine cellar!
I came to Convivium with my wife for our anniversary. We like exploring restaurant and we ended up in north slope Brooklyn. As we walked in, the restaurant was beautifully candle lit, the ambiance is great, and the vibe better. We are in the wine and food business and our server Angel is so knowledgeable about all the wines on the list ( we made so many questions). We noticed tell he's very passionate about wine and enjoys delivering customer's request. We reccomended us a great bottle of a sicialian white wine1. Food is out of this world. The Portuguese copper pot with clams is something you wont find anywhere. Pastas are great too. The ragus phenomenal! We can not wait to be back and see our new good friend Angel😊
Except for the obnoxious loud table of UES millennials who couldn’t stop screaming instead of just talking loud, it was a perfect night.
There’s not enough starts to give to this place. Me and my husband absolutely love Convivium!
This place was more than expected from the street view. It was rustic and quaint in size. Sunday half price bottle of wines was a treat and the food was absolutely delicious. I’d definitely go back and have already recommended to others
Best italian Restaurant we found in Brooklyn!
Will be back
We went for my father and brothers birthday. What a cute atmosphere! We ate downstairs in the wine cellar. It was an amazing experience. The customer service was very food. The food was delicious!
The food was delicious but the service was horrid. The waiter never checked in with us to ask if our food was satisfactory. My husband finished his beer after our appetizer and no one asked if he wanted another one.
Best place near the Barclays. Food is some of the best northern Italian in Brooklyn.
This is my second time here and this time I brought a friend because I raved about it so much the last time. She loved the food and ambiance as much as I did. She had the octopus, lamb and chocolate cake. I had the bacalau special, salad, and panda cotta. The wine recommended was delicious as was the entire meal.
This was my second time here. They sat us downstairs, what a very cool space!! Food & service was amazing!
Overall a GREAT dinner option prior to an event at Barclay Center. Only a quick 2 block walk straight down 5th directly to entrance of venue! Every plate / course was good to excellent. Service was good. Not great. This is a Wine and Beer restaurant only.
So special. Intimate dining atmosphere, excellent food and service.
We went for a birthday dinner. Highly recommended and sit in the while cellar if you can!
Love this place.
Excellent meal with a deep wine list that is very reasonably priced. Apps were recommended by the server and were great. Good gem in Park Slope.
Great wine selections
Convivium is the best Italian food we had in NYC, we love the spot and feel so at home there!
Very nice place , good food
Osteria never disappoints. The food is always top notch and everything is delicious. Love this place!!
Wow. From the moment I stepped into the quaint gem... all was splendid!
Pleasant, ambiance is very nice and distracts from the mediocre food. The burrata was tasty and so was the lasagna. Probably won’t return unless my plan is to wine more than dine
I went with my family for a birthday celebration. It is a small cozy restaurant. Food was very good. I really liked the pasta.
My husband and I booked a table here for an early dinner before an event at the Barclays Center. Convivium Osteria is a very charming restaurant with a rustic Italian feel. The street level dining room is small but not crowded. There are more tables downstairs in the “wine cellar”. The gentleman behind the bar greeted us at the door and took us to our table. There was one other server at the time and the two of them took care of us in tandem. The service they provided was excellent. The food was incredible. I started with a sausage- stuffed grilled quail on a bed of figs and finished with a port reduction. The sausage was a perfect contrast to the quail and the fruit and port together completed this perfect dish. Next, we shared a green apple and ricotta ravioli topped with a duck confit ragu. Again, this unique dish was the perfect blend of flavors and might be my favorite ravioli of all time. I ended my meal with a whole roasted Mediterranean Sea bass and my husband had the pistachio-crusted lamb. Both dishes were delicious. I could have spent hours here sampling dishes and drinking wine (it’s that kind of place) but we had an event to attend. The restaurant is only two blocks from the Barclays Center and I highly recommend dining here any time you find yourself in the neighborhood. Actually, I would say dinner at Convivium Osteria is worth the trip to Brooklyn.
Lovely ambience, friendly service. My only complaint is that we couldn’t use the gift card to cover the tip. This means we had to dig into our own pockets. Seems like there should be a way to use the gift card to cover the tip.
The food was excellent, as always but the music was too loud. We keep asking the waiter to lower the volume down and they did but then the music was loud again
Great restaurant, with quality and fresh food. Would return any day
