Second time coming here, very good food and service is great. Its more of a place to eat a 3 course meal as the portions are moderately small. I ordered Gnodi from the Primi and I was expecting a bigger amount. Although it was small, it was still good but I should have ordered one more plate. My husband ordered the duck and he liked it as it was cooked properly, not chewy at all. It was tender and tasted good. We both had a glass of wine each with the burrata app. and the bill did not exceed $95. Nice date place. I came here the first time with my husband and 2 friends and we were seated downstairs, which has a cave feel to it. I would come here again.

Love, love, love this place. Whenever I need something good or something that reminds me of being home I come here. I have had the gnudi every single time and it’s amazing. Love the secret basement area.

Compares very favorably to small, cozy restaurants in Italy. Lovely atmosphere and great food. The three of us shared 2 appetizers, 2 pasta dishes and a fish entree to enjoy a variety of flavors. Everything was very good. Perfect for warm, family-style dining with a bar and a great wine menu as well.

We have been to Convivium on several occasions and the food is always delicious and the service phenomenal. We wanted a special dinner on Christmas Eve, so I made a reservation for two. The food was delicious as always, but unfortunately, I was not as happy with the service and ambiance this time around. From the start of our reservation, I felt rushed with the food coming out fast and with appetizers and entrees served back to back, with no time in between. We were seated upstairs at a shared table, where there was a family of three also seated, just by the door. This was fine, but while we were eating, a group of 8 came in without a reservation. Rather than going someplace else to kill time while they waited for a table, they waited at the very small bar, which was right next to our table, and were right on top of us. The restaurant staff did not say anything to try to keep them out of the way. Then after the family of 3 left the table we were all sharing, the waitstaff reset the table and placed a stack of plates on the table, clearly waiting for us to leave to seat the large group. I found it to be a bit tacky and it made us feel like we were being rushed to leave. It made what was supposed to be a romantic Christmas Eve dinner feel rushed. We will be back as the food is amazing, with the hopes that our next experience will be like previous ones, with service that matches the quality of the food.

We ordered mostly all the Pasta and they were fresh and delicious served in little portions. Our favorite dessert was Tiramisu. The only drawback is that the restaurant was a little too dark and we saw someone fall on the floor.

I don't get to New York that often, but when I do, I try to make it to Convivium Osteria for a meal. I am never disappointed. We landed at LaGuardia at 9 pm and made it to the restaurant by 10 pm on a Thursday. We were warmly welcomed and served an amazing meal. This is a small cozy place with a large Italian menu that crosses regions. The artichoke appetizer would be appreciated anywhere in Italy. The pastas are spectacular, and we always finish off with their whole fish. Convivium is truly a delight.

We hadn't been here for several years so went back on a hectic Saturday night.
Rare Saturday experience of a terrific and patient waiter on a busy night !
The owner was on duty and quite friendly.
We ordered a wine but the vintage we wanted was no longer available. So they offered a more expensive bottle of similar type for the same price. Much appreciated.
The spanish/portugese/italian food is superb. Long wine list from inexpensive to very fancy.
Cozy rooms, very comfortable.
We are tiramisu lovers. Their version absolutely top notch.
Highly recommended. A couple blocks from Barclays so great choice if you have a show.
Can't wait to go back for 1/2 priced wine Sundays !

I selected this restaurant for a small family dinner to celebrate my birthday and have to say that we like it. We were seated in the private room downstairs (wine cellar) and loved it. We started with burrata and assortment of meat and cheese-just wow! Also ordered special-calamari with spinach-so so. I ordered gnocchi and liked it! My father had lamb and it was delicious-we all actually tried it since he was recommending it. My mom had spaghetti with shrimps and she said that shrimps and spaghetti were really good, but she had to actually peel shrimps, so that was a little bit of a disappointment. My fiance had red snapper and said that the fish was good, but the potatoes it came on the side could have been better. I was surprised to know that the place did not offer any juices, but they had Italian Cola and on the bottle it was said MADE IN HEAVEN. Overall, I would recommend this place since it is very unique and food is delicious.

After years of walking past, we finally decided to go. Inside it is just as cozy as expected, a perfect environment for authentic Italian, especially on a date or special occasion. The food quality was excellent, and the 50% off bottles of wine on Sundays is an absolute bargain. We purchased our bottle at $4 over retail price, unheard of at a restaurant usually. (A good Chianti for $22, retails $18 in a big wine store.)

The only complaint, and it is a minor one, is that the bread was served hard and at room temperature. Is this customary? Would much prefer fresher bread, even if it isn't still warm. Don't want crumbs all over the plate etc. Simply buying some good French bread each night and cutting it on the bias would suffice, no need to aim for the sky with some kind of reheating scheme, and wind up missing the mark with dry bread.

Octopus and cheese plate appetizers very nice, the quail appetizer was the coup of the meal. Pasta and rabbit also quite good. (But again, make sure you get the quail.) Will avoid no longer, this will become a regular place for us especially if the cheap bottles of wine are available.

For the most part it was very good, except that we felt the staff was trying to rush us out so they could seat the next party. Other than that it was excellent. Two apps, two entrees, a dessert, and bottle of wine $228.

One of the best Italian spots in the city. Impeccable service as well as a great wine list. Atmosphere here is hard to beat. The food is very authentic and prepared without error. Knowledgable staff - they know everything they can about the wine and also fine details about the preparation of the food. These people really care about what they are doing and it's refreshing. Thank You!

When we arrived there was music playing so loudly that we could not hear our waiter. We tried asking him questions which he could not hear either. When we asked if he could turn down the music he pointed in the direction of the bar and said “ask her” and walked away.

We eventually got someone to turn the music down and we were able to order. The food was wonderful, but our waiter mostly ignored us for the remainder of the meal. When we managed to get his attention he gave us the same attitude.

I had several wonderful meals here years ago. It seems that maybe they’ve changed management or are having trouble with staff now. We definitely will not be going back.

I have been dining at Convivium since it first opened and love it. The food is always wonderful. This time, even though I had a reservation and there were tables free upstairs, we were seated down in the wine cellar and shortly after we got there a party of about 15 to 20 people showed up. They mingled loudly around the table for about 15 minutes and then sat and continued to be loud. It was difficult for me and my two companions to hear each other over the party's noise. When we left, we saw that there were still free tables that could have seated three upstairs. This was a pretty disappointing experience. With a party that large in the wine cellar, they shouldn't have been seating any other diners down there at all.

Came here a lot years ago when it first opened. Delighted to come back after several years to find the food is still first rate. Grilled octopus was tender and delicious, as was the the rabbit main course. On the other hand, the Nudi were bland, and there could be a few more vegetarian options.
