Authentic Mexican food in a beautiful location.. Fast and courteous service. Table side guacamole was terrific!
Fajitas were ok, not great. They don't include guacamole. Chicken was bland, not flavorful like typical fajitas. Recommend the ceviche. Skinny margarita and house margarita not good. Top shelf margarita was good.
We really enjoyed our evening as well as the food.. The service was very good too!
Great food and was not real busy. However, waitress was very nice but not attentive. We had to flag someone down for drinks that did not come, more chips and salsa and water.
GREAT MARGARITAS! But watch out- they're really expensive
We were 15 minutes late for our reservation, but they still had our table ready even though some walk in people were waiting to be seated. This table turned out to be in a high traffic area, so the manager was able to find us another table in a less active area. Very accommodating! The filet Mignon was delicious. The green salsa (one of three complimentary salsas provided with chips) was very hot-like habenero hot. The quesso "appetizer" we ordered to munch on while waiting for our meal did not arrive until our meal was brought out. We were told only one of their ovens were working that evening. We would definitely go there again.
Service, food, experience all great
Nice, prompt service. Food delicious as always.
Great guacamole, prepared table side
Food was good, but no ambiance, light were very bright , space was too little and it was very loud
The food was terrible. I ordered the shrimp wrapped bacon. The shrimp were overcooked and so rubbery that i think I could have bounced them off of the floor. The rice was dry and lukewarm. The salsas were terrible and the tortilla chips were over salted.
The food and ambiance were good, from a service perspective though we waited so long to get the fajitas entree brought to our table. The delay was because the helper who was working with our waitress dropped off the entree at the wrong table so our waitress had to ask the kitchen to prepare the fajitas for our table again.
Loved the guacamole and margaritas!!
Server and server assistants were very personable. The trio of salsas they serve are so good. Our favorite was the spicy sauce made with Serrano peppers. We got the guacamole made tableside. Chile Verde was flavorful and the rice was delicious.
Reservation system needs work.
I tried to change the reservation from 5 to 6 people several times over two days and OpenTable
could not communicate with the restaurant.
When we got there no reservations (at all) were showing. It was not a problem to us as it was very early in the day and the place was empty.
Service was terrible, waiter was always missing
Great as always!!
Food was delicious.
Good food, attentive service, and wonderful outside dining!
Great food. Pleasant service.
Need to fix/upgrade restrooms.
Good food, nice ambiance but slow service.
The food was alright. The salsas that were served with the chips while you waited to order were great. Definitely not worth the price though.
Disappointing food quality. Has deteriorated over time. Too expensive for an average experience
It was wonderful
Awful customer service tonight. Server was inattentive, like did not check back on how food was, or offered another round of drinks or even water refills in a timely manner, and when another person in our party arrived, had to flag server down for him to get service. Our late party member literally sat at our table for 15 minutes and watched every other glass/dish get taken away bc some of us were done dining, and he still had not even anything to drink. When it was time to pay, server kept telling our party she can't split checks - into two, not even like per person - instead of trying to figure it out. She also said we should have explicitly mentioned for our checks to be split at the beginning of dinner. We live in Santana Row, and we may not come back to Consuelo's because of this. Server also tried to say she can't apply our resident discount twice for the split checks. Never had an issue like this at any other given restaurant in the Row. Come to think of it, never had awful service like this anywhere in the Row, especially as residents. Such a wasted night and sorry that we chose Consuelo's for our gathering tonight.
Consuelo's is great! It's a small place, not a ton of personal space but it doesn't change the experience. Awesome drinks and food. THE BEST HOMEMADE TORTILLAS. Veggie tacos are the perfect vegan option. Definitely one of my favorite local restaurants!
Churros dessert was best part of meal. Everything else was dreadful! Be careful if you dine here. It used to be a high quality Mexican restaurant. No longer! What happened to it?
Lizette is the best server. We had the fajitas and the carnitas and they were both delicious!
The food was not fresh. I had a burnt Chile relleno and the carnitas were dry. The guacamole didn't have much taste.
Although I requested a table outside, we opted to dine inside since the outside temperature was over 100 degrees. But in retrospect we should have opted for that table outside since the air conditioning inside was sub-par if any. Very disappointing place for such a cool venue. Food is really not that great and I will not go back nor will I recommend.
It was a fantastic meal, but it ended in a huge dud. Once the bill was paid we were pretty much ignored for the last 30 minutes. Would have been nice to at least get water refresh after, but the big thud was we were literally the last table occupying inside ten minutes before they were closing for business, and one of the employees collected the empty water glasses on the table, and told us "we all done here," gave a chop signal across his neck and walked off with the glasses. Basically telling us it was time to go, nicely done, you killed the evening. More than likely will never return. Good food, but the service was less than desired.
Nice food, friendly ambiance and good service. Good regular spot for residents in the area. The fresh homemade guacamole prepared right in front of you is amazing!
Lots of great dishes to try, there is a kids menu but you might have to ask for it (we did and never got one) table next to us did. Chips came with 3 sauces which weren't explained (sweet, mild and hot).
This is a great place for a social dinner out. Outdoor patio is situated next to an outdoor tequila bar that has live latin music most evenings. Consuelo is like being at the party, but just being on the edge of the party instead of in the middle of it. Excellent people watching!
Food was good but we sat outside right on the sidewalk with no heat. Ambience was not the best.
Was expecting more from a place that always seems to be busy all the time. Food was ok, the service was not good.
Food was good. Ordered the fajitas for two, it was delicious and offered great value especially for someone like me who cannot finish an individual order. Offers crispy tortilla chips while waiting with 3 various salsa dips-- delish! There were a couple of live bands playing outdoors in the plaza...added to a vibrant early evening!
Great Mexican food! Good tequila and mezcal selection. Fajitas are good enough for two people and very delicious. Also, lamb barbacoa is great! I would recommend to try anything as all food is good.
Service was ok, there was a trainee, my cranberry club soda tasted like beer with old flat water, it was disgusting and I asked them to replace it and it still tasted horrible. The guacamole was ok, the chips were stale, the need in the quesadilla tasted old, the only decent thing was the chicken Suiza enchilada, but definitely not worth the money! Ridiculously overpriced for what you got but then again it is Santana Row.
The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived and only two or three tables were occupied when we left. The drinks were fine, but the food (salmon tacos, shrimp tacos and salad) was pretty bland and disappointing. I have not been to Consuelo in a few years, but I remember the food being better in the past.
