Connolly's Pub and Restaurant - 45th Ratings and Reviews
After looking at reviews, this looked like a great place for our group to have lunch. The beer was flat and had to be sent back and the food was so so. The Shepard pie had hard to find vegetables in it. The food was warm not hot. Just disappointed we didn't go somewhere else.
We ate at Connelly's on 12/2, arriving at 11:50. We were seated immediately upstairs. First thing we did not like is that our small party of three was seated next to a big table of loud people. This was when there were many available tables. I thought, perhaps, it was due to the same Server working with both tables but that was not the case, two different servers. Second, our server while pleasant was not friendly. She spoke very fast and seemed irritated when we had to ask her to repeat (due to the loud table next to us). She was not available when needed and was instead standing at the bar talking. The soups we ordered (Potato Leek and Irish Onion) were good after they cooled (served scalding hot). The Bangers and Mash was just ok and we found the Shephard's Pie to be pretty blah. For the prices ($18 for Shepard's Pie alone) I didn't expect Cordon Bleu but I did expect better.
Going to Connolly's Pub was a last minute decision and we were not disappointed! Quick to be seated, nice atmosphere and the owner (?) had a nice Irish accent. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. With 4 of us and a couple of drinks it was less than $85 sans tip. Excellent for NYC!!
Went here on a recommendation. Everything was fantastic! We had the pretzel for an appetizer to share as we didn’t want to get too full and it was delicious and a perfect size for what we wanted. Then we decided to have the Irish dishes - Shepard’s pie and the chicken pot pie - both delicious! I definitely recommend Connolly’s!
While the table we were at was in an area that was a bit darker than it needed to be, and the noise level a little high (though certainly not as high as most pubs), Connolly's is a great alternative to most of the other pre-theater dinner alternatives in the Times Square Area. For pub fare, the food is really good and well-prepared, the service is good, and, most unusual of all for that part of town, the pricing is very reasonable.
Nice staff, good choices and great value for the money. However, the decaf coffee is instant. Shame, shame. No restaurant should serve decaf coffee. Sort of spoiled the whole dinner for 2 people who wanted decaf and decaf Espresso. $17 Irish pub favorites good value and taste. Coconut chicken curry quite acceptable at least to me.
Simple pub menu but everything was excellent. The house salad was just the right size, prepared attractively and very tasty. The burger was prepared just as I had asked. It was great along with all the side trimmings. Service was excellent and the price was terrific for theater-district Manhattan!
We Love Connelly's Pub....They have one of the best Rooftop bars in Midtown that isn't snobby, or overpriced. The service, food, drinks, atmosphere, and prices are always great!!!
We've been there many times when it's a nice crowd and you can still get tables and feel relaxed in a casual environment.
Our waiter was great but the hostess, not so much. I thought that they had a quieter backroom, or seating upstairs. The hostess seated us near the bar with a bunch of TV's tuned to sports. When I asked if there was a quieter table she laughed at me and said that it was Saturday night, there aren't any quiet tables anywhere in New York. I've been at another Connolly's that had a quiet backroom away from the bar. I thought it was weird that she laughed instead of saying, no, I'm sorry. Then when we were leaving she stood by the door and stared into space instead of saying goodnight. She didn't ruin my night, but she didn't go out her way to make it a pleasant evening.
Connolly's Pub on 45th St in Manhattan is a terrific "find" for the individual who is looking for a reasonably priced, Irish style pub restaurant in the theater district of New York City. The menu is replete with fish, meat and vegetarian selections served by a friendly staff who are attentive and eager to please. For those who enjoy a beer before or after their meal Connolly's is the place to go in that the selection of both draft and bottled beers is extensive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and theater-goers.
