The long established tradition of Afternoon Tea has been wonderfully preserved at Ashford Castle since 1868 - you’ll notice the original silver tea set displayed in the Connaught Room, which was presented to Lord and Lady Ardilaun to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in 1896. With spectacular views from the comfort of the castle’s elegant interior, take your time to savour every delicious moment.

The Afternoon Tea menu offers guests a wide selection of speciality teas or perhaps a glass of Champagne, delicate finger sandwiches, warm freshly baked scones with lashings of cream and home-made jam, not to mention our tasty pastries. It’s the perfect way to spend a leisurely afternoon with friends.

Please note that all visitors will be directed to our car park located across the bridge and a shuttle will be provided. Should there be any delays please call the hotel.

A wonderful experience, I would highly recommend afternoon tea in Ashford Castle. The food is so tasty and there is a great selection. The staff are welcoming and friendly, they are so happy to help and to recommend different teas/coffees etc. They have the perfect balance of asking if you’re ok and also leaving you to enjoy the moment. The setting in The Connaught Room is perfect, it is comfortable, warm, you have space so it feels private. It is a lovely treat and I would happily go again.

My girlfriend, who loves tea, had made reservations for us to attend this afternoon tea, and I, who generally does not like tea, was genuinely surprised with how pleasant I found the experience. Even as a young couple vacationing on a budget, probably not the typical people to attend an afternoon tea, we felt very welcomed by staff and other patrons alike. Throughout the service, staff was warm and all took part in caring for us, rather than having one particular server for our table. They were knowledgeable about the estate’s history, as well as the food and tea, helping me to find two that I actually enjoyed. The ambiance of the room helped me feel relaxed, and we never felt rushed through our tea. Afterwards, we were even allowed to explore the grounds at our own pace. I definitely recommend this experience to anyone, even those who are skeptical.

Truly the most wonderful of experiences and afternoon teas I've ever had. Everything was truly exceptional from the striking grandeur of the interiors, the wonderfully attentative service, exquisite food and wonderful views across the gardens and lake. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. If you get the chance to go do it,.you won't be disappointed.

This was our second visit to Ashford Castle and we absolutely loved our afternoon tea visit! It was a great surprise for my mother in law and we hope to be back again soon. Really enjoyed the vegetarian menu for tea sandwiches!

An incredible experience and lovely way to briefly enjoy the hotel. The staff were amazing, and the tea/scones/desserts were 5 stars. Come hungry as it was a lot of food so no need to eat lunch beforehand.
