“Comodo is about a personal love story with a region and its flavors but keeping it true to the environment where it is found. It is a menu very personal to who I am-an autobiography written in food. This food is what happens when you take a Colombian-Spanish-Mexican-Brazilian-American that has adapted to New York” explains Felipe Donnelly, who will oversee the kitchen.
For parties larger than six, Comodo offers our family style menu, which consists of the entire menu shared, for sixty dollars per person. If you would like this menu please indicate in your notes.
Comodo is a restaurant, inspired by Latin American influences but diners won’t find tacos or mole on the menu. Rather, the cuisine uses the flavors and the technique but varies from the traditional menu. It will serve Latin food seen through the prism of current New York dining trends.

I love that Comodo began as dinner parties in the chef's home, and I especially love supporting Latino entrepreneurship (the co-owners of the restaurant are both Latino). My hubby and I joined some friends of ours at Comodo on a cold winter night; from the moment we entered we were embraced by the warmth of the staff and especially the food. The four of us shared the lamb sliders, arepas, and brussel sprouts as appetizers and the fettuccine, duck, and steak as entrees. There were only two desserts, so of course we ordered both--one was made with espresso and the other was a sundae made with sunflower seed ice cream. Every bite of every dish was delectable.

Loveeeeed this place!! The ceviche was incredible, I've never had such a tasty dish, truly sublime. Also loved the sliders, definitely a MUST! And you can't miss the sea bass with heart of palm risotto- totally hit the spot! The ambiance and service was excellent, will be returning for sure.

Unusual brunch menu and all delicious. The bread basket scarily yummy, and the cauliflower flatbread was to die for. Poached eggs in some of the dishes (the flatbread, the kale salad) made them truly brunch-y and this was not arbitrary--the flavors blended perfectly together.

Quinoa French Toast w/ roasted coconut and cashews - a special, outstanding!
Plantain Asado - savory with a little kick; just right to the taste buds!

this restaurant was terrible. they told us they no longer do happy hour after reading about them on thrillist to be known which was fine. Their food menu lacked luster. They are also overpriced. They charged $12 for ONE arepa. Verdict: Definitely skip this place and go down the block to much nicer restaurants with better service and food.

Small venue packs a lot of punch with it's well executed dishes. I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to accommodate our group of 10 without a hitch. Everyone was very pleased with their meals. Would definitely return again.

Lovely food. A bit on the pricey side for the portions - but good value for the creativity. Very nice server. First wine pour was a bit stingy (by a second server), but second one was better. I would recommend for folks who don't mind paying for a creative meal. Nice ambiance too.

My husband and I went for brunch--we were the first guests in the restaurant and the only ones during our visit. When I ordered my breakfast bowl I was told it would be 20 min in order for the rice to be prepared which I was okay with, but unfortunately that 20 min ended up being over an hour without any communication regarding the delay. Once we asked about our food, the server eventually brought my husbands dish which clearly had been prepared and waiting for a while because the plate was hot from sitting under a heat lamp, but mine still was delayed another 15 min.
I have to admit the food was good, but the service and lack of communication was such a disappointment, we won't be going back.

We went here with a group of 9 and they were incredibly accommodating! It's hard to find spots in the city that will let you reserve a 9-person table AND will also offer great service and not make you feel like an inconvenience.

The savory bread basket was AMAZING and all the food was great/interesting. We got to try the "hot chocolate" which is probably the churro dipping sauce and almost ordered the churros, because the sauce was so good. Overall, an awesome brunch!

Great service though there was a big delay between apps and entrees. Nice setting and ambiance. Food was okay. Black cod was delicious. Lamb chops were decent. Could pass on octopus, brussel sprout, and steak. Sliders were tasty.

Food is good. Portions are tiny. And they need to update their menu. NO MORE UNLIMITED MIMOSAS. When I pointed to waitress that menu should be updated, she brushed it off.

Food was good, although the "latin american" influence was not entirely obvious in the dishes we ordered (brussel "caesar" salad, bolognese pasta, and steak). The space is very cute, but they have a bit of a ventilation issue: it was freezing the night we dined there and they had the front door and window open to air out the open kitchen. (Our clothes still smelled for a few days.) Probably better suited for a nice spring or summer night, when you don't have to wear your parka while eating.

Atmosphere was simple and quaint, and service was friendly. However, the food was nothing special, bordering on mediocre. The dishes either didn't seem that fresh or the preparation wasn't done well, or both…almost like pre-prepared food that was re-heated. The brussels sprouts caesar salad was a bit heavy/creamy, but lacked flavor. The lamb sliders had a strange pungent flavor…not sure if it was the meat or the dipping sauce. The Ajiaco Soup seemed pre-prepared and lacked flavor. And the short ribs were way too salty. The Cafe con Leche dessert was decent.

If you are tired of the conventional brunch fare, go to Comodo and order the Sierra - warm brussels sprouts topped with a poached egg. DELICIOUS! I would eat that for breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner.

We couldn't get in for dinner so we went to Sunday brunch there. The food was great, the server was helpful, prompt and knowledgeable. For brunch, the food was familiar, but creative and with a Latin flare. It was well priced. For someone visiting the city, it's a great place to sit with the locals and eat great food.

We had a wonderful dinner here!! Every single dish was delicious and prepared to perfection. The grilled octopus was the best I have ever had, and the soup was so good, I could have eaten another bowl. The service was great- the chef even brought us out our entrees on her day off. This is fabulous restaurant.

for us, a perfect combination of
- a fun & lively place to eat without being jostled by giant tote bags and backpacks on the shoulders of bar guests. I very much appreciate a resto that doesn't allow the bar to intrude on the diners, who in NY are usually pretty close by. Sometimes you have to just say no.
- terrific food. the Brussels sprouts salad was every bit as good as promised, although the Caesar salad reference still eludes me, but that's not a bad thing. Excellent octopus, which I've been eating a lot of and have a pretty good basis for comparison. Winner was the pasta bolognese, with enough heat from spicy peppers to make it interesting, but I could still taste the veal in the sauce. also, wasn't drowning in sauce. really good.
- reservation was honored on time, tables not too close together, server took time to give us advice and samples of wine before deciding on glasses with courses.
- will def go back next time we're in NY, which we do 2-3 times/year
- book in advance. it looked wide open on OT all week, but was full the whole night.

Comodo has received a lot of recognition on OpenTable so my fiance and two of our friends decided to try it. We were very underwhelmed by the food and the service. The food was ok (not bad, not great) but certainly not worth the price tags. For example I had the short ribs which was pretty good but half the meat was entirely fat. I understand that short ribs can be fatty which is partially why they are good but serving meat where half the portion is pure fat is a bit much. I think for the same price you can go to much better restaurants in the city.

Comodo was the first restaurant I've heard to have a good fusion of latin american and american food, and their brunches were superb. This time the menu was good but the food was not memorable. I think quality has gone down, but there might be one or two plates that are worthwhile for brunch. I like the ambiance, it's a great place. Wish they hadn't dropped the food quality.
