This was our first time trying Communal. If you’ve never been before the meals are served family style. The food was very good and tasted like a delicious home cooked meal, a very special nice home cooked meal. In other words, it tasted fresh. Things are a bit pricey, but if you want to splurge a little, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
The food was phenomenal, personable staff. Small and quaint inside. Will be back!
Great service and food. Care taken in preparing every dish!
Devin took fantastic care of me. I will most definitely return again soon!
The food was delicious but the 50 dollars per person plus an automatic 20 % gratuity was over the top in my opinion.
I continue to think this is the best restaurant in Utah Valley. The quality of food is always good and innovative.
Service was friendly and engaging. Communal tables added to a fun evening with our friends. They recommend one item for two from each of the starters, protein, and side dishes. With four, we ordered two starters, three protein and two sides. The Apple fennel salad and Funeral Potato croquette were wonderful for our starters. The chicken, steak and pasta were excellent. We enjoyed the sides of mashed potatoes and carrots. Just the right amount of food. We will be back with more friends to enjoy a meal soon.
This place is fantastic.
Literally the best food I’ve ever had and the best service too.
I highly recommend this place.
The atmosphere is so unique, and the whole restaurant itself feels like nothing in Utah, it transports you to somewhere incredible.
Top tier food. It is pricey, but it is expertly crafted.
It’s always an treat to visit Communal a few times a year. And it never disappoints. The food is always outstanding and the staff are welcoming and attentive. Save room for dessert!
We always enjoy the dining experience at Communal as we come from Portland and enjoy the similarity in culture to our home restaurants. Virginia, the server was pleasant, smart and fast. Very much enjoyed meeting her. The food was fabulous as always. We enjoy the updates to the menu and look forward to what the chef as changed up. I marked the noise level at 2 because I wear hearing aids and any restaurant has noise issues. It's me, not you. Loved the dining experience as mush as ever!
Seated between two loud groups at the communal table. Not great. It gets loud in there. Food was good, not the best we've had there, and we were itching to get out.
It has the best food in Utah Valley.
Communal does a wonderful job. We took our server's recommendations and although I might select other items on my next visit, the food and service was superb.
Elise was our server, and she was kind, accommodating and incredibly thoughtful!
Amazing locally sourced food and you could share a protein with 4 people. The fingerling potatoes were especially good. Wine per glass options were limited, but the selections were great.
My wife and I thought that just one dish per two people would be little, however we both were totally satisfied. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. Italian rose wine I asked for was not available but California wine was a good replacement.
I highly recommend this restaurant!
WE love Communal, the service is excellent as well as the food.
Meal. I understand a new owner. Bravo!
It was wonderful to spend our anniversary at Communal! The food was great and so was the service. Thanks Eric for making it a great time. Our favorite thing was the mussels and our chai tea pot de creme dessert was delicious! Overall it was just perfect!
What a nice surprise that a top rated restaurant stands up to it’s rating. So often I don’t trust most reviewers on these sites, but can confirm this hard-to-impress diner had a wonderful experience. Fantastic flavors and interesting menu. We had a private table and felt lucky in that as there are only a handful of those available, hence the name Communal.
Some of the best food in the state!
Eric who waited on us was great. The wine was great and we ordered a mix of meat and non meat options and overall everything was wonderful.
We come here every year for my wife’s birthday. We love it. The menu changes with the season, is locally sourced, and we end up always trying something new. The food always has great flavor, and the family style portion is great for the two of us. The service is always friendly and attentive. The setting is great, and in a cool revived part of Provo.
Food was wonderful, and we loved the family-style eating. Would definitely go back!
So so good!! Absolutely love the food and vibe! Your staff is awesome!!
I love Communal! This is my favorite restaurant in UT. The food was so great that I don’t think we even talked about anything other than the food. :)
Amazing food everything we tried was delicious love the sharing nature of the dishes, excellent service overall best place to eat in Provo
My friends and I came here for a girl’s brunch and absolutely loved it. Terrific food, great ambiance, and delightful service. Excited to go again!
I love Communal. Always have. Always will. Downtown experience with local small town service. Food is excellent, watching the cars drive by at night feels like big city fun.
We've been meaning to make it down to Communal for ages, and we finally did. It was worth the effort! We ordered the london broil, the trout, the brussels sprouts and the fingerling potatoes. I could have ordered a few more things that looked good, but as Communal plates are designed for sharing, it would have been way too much food! It was all excellent! I also really love a good non-alcoholic drink, and their housemade ginger ale was fantastic. Highly recommend Communal.
Been here twice this week. One time with my daughter, second time with a colleague. In between they had just changed menu. Menu has 5 to 6 items each (starter, entree ...) but esch item is special. Open kitchen, very nice.
This was our second time visiting Communal and it did not disappoint. Our table was ready when we arrived. Jake was awesome describing the menu and wine options to us and taking care of us throughout dinner; everything we had was absolutely delicious. The portions are quite large and meant to be shared. We shared everything we ordered including the beet salad and the vegetables. We had the pork chops with blackberry port reduction and they were tender, juicy and delicious.
Our only disappointment is that after our delicious dinner we could not even consider ordering a desert to share!
We look forward to having dinner again at Communal when we are in Utah in the future.
This is not a restaurant for children.
Communal is the best restaurant in Provo! Everything we ordered was incredible!
Communal is great and all, and has some great flavors, but eh food is extremely overpriced for what it is, and the chefs don't really listen to your order. My steak and eggs was cooked off: medium instead of medium rare, and the eggs were EXTREMELY runny (like, the whites were still runny) when I asked for it over medium: that means, not runny, but almost "gelled." If I'm paying $20 for steak and eggs, you should cook it the way that I want it to be cooked. My wife was also relatively unimpressed with the deep fried french toast: it was a cool gimmick, but it was pretty average and not very special when she actually ate it. All in all, communal is good, but it's more of a schmoozing resturant: you bring people here that you want to impress with big ticket meal items, but hope they'll look at the price, and not the stick tables, the average-tasting food, and the occasional visit from the wait staff: seriously, I think I saw the girl there one time for appetizer orders, one time for real orders, one time to fill up my cup, and one time for the check.
Went on a recommendation and I was not disappointed. The food was good and the service was great.
I booked a table for just myself and no indication was given that the restaurant concept is all about sharing. So do not come alone. The food is good, the menu is short to ensure quality but it always comes in double size. Far too much for a single person. So half of the order was returned. When coming alone, it is far too expensive. Good to come in party of two or more.
Our waitress put 1/3 of the mashed potatoes we had left into a to-go box, we found out when we opened it up to eat last night for leftovers. Didn't really appreciate that.
Other than that we love Communal.
My FAVORITE restaurant in Utah County! Excellent food, menu changes with seasonal availability of veggies and meats. Meal presentations, blended flavors, old favorites with new twists, choices of starters, salads and main courses are varied and created with care and expertise! I am never disappointed, wish I could visit every week. The Communal reminds me of the finer restaurants in Orange County California!
Management and kitchen staff we were welcoming and kind. It made for a special birthday dinner for the man that I love. The polenta was creamy and rich, the music lovely.
