We went for the Royal Wedding. The breakfast was excellent. The event was fun. This is my favorite restaurant in DC. I recommend it to everyone.
We were a group of nine and had wonderful service and great food. I’d call it an upscale pub with the feel of a French bistro. Cool!
Great, comfortable atmosphere. Good was great value and delicious.
I have come here before and had a good experience. Tonight I am sorely disappointed. The service was poor. I asked about a typo on the bill and the server didn’t seem to care about my concern, and when he returned to the table he sat threw the bill down and walked away not updating me on any changes to the bill when I just asked a sincere question. I’ve dined at fast food chains, $ places, $ places, and $$ places. So I am flexible with expectations and quality of food. However, I do not ever expect my friend chicken to have come from a freezer and an oven. The presentation of the meal was bad. Both plates were salty. And my chicken tasted as if it were frozen and tossed in an over. I don’t know how else fried chicken comes to a table lukewarm and heavily salted. I did not enjoy spending my money in this establishment.
Waiter was so friendly- all around amazing experience. Great breakfast for 2 with 2 entrees, coffee, mimosas!
Had the best Mother’s Day brunch! The food was incredible - being gluten free it’s a huge deal for me to get a good gf brunch and they hit the nose on the head. Plus, the manager, Joe, and our waiter made our time there so fun. Will definitely be coming back!
Great vibe. Atmosphere is casual. Good drink specials. Menu had several vegan options. Our waitress was very pleasant, knowledgeable about the dishes, and efficient. Overall we enjoyed this “happening” place in Logan’s Circle in DC. Would definitely recommend!
Great service, amazing food!
Service and food were both excellent. Bret was our server. I had the steak salad. Steak was plentiful and prepared medium as asked. We also had the fish tacos which my wife says was wonderful. My daughter had the commissary burger done to perfection.
We had excellent service. The waiter was very sensitive to food allergies and the meal was superb.
We had a party of 13 and our service and waitress was incredible, the food was delicious and everyone loved all aspects.
Breakfast was average to above average. Frittata was tasty according to my wife. Surprised that the blueberry pancakes were lacking. I’ve had better. Service was attentive and very friendly. Amelia was very personable. Listed as #1 breakfast restaurant but do not agree. Thought Founding Farmers was far superior.
I ordered steak and eggs but the eggs were gross and cold. The steak as actually cooked well and tasted good but was small.
After just moving back to NYC, I met friends at Commissary for dinner/drinks when visiting DC last week. I miss DC and I really miss Commissary! Easygoing, friendly service, cheeky bartender, decent food and reasonably priced drinks. Such a gem!
Well the review said it was number one for breakfast it was actually the worst breakfast in my life nothing tasted good.
Delicious Big Veggie Salad, with a perfectly cooked piece of salmon.
The atmosphere of the Commissary was great! Reminded me of the show "Friends." Our server was very nice and somewhat attentive. However, I ordered the Steak Frites. I ordered my steak medium. It was the toughest steak I have ever tried to eat. It was so tough and rubbery it required my sawing through it with my knife. I ended up leaving a large portion of it on my plate. I should have sent it back but didn't bother due to lack of time and this being a business meal with my focus being on conversation with others at the table. The frites were good/average. I will not dine here again and recommend to others that with the many choices of restaurants in DC, you should choose another.
The staff and food was excellent!
Had brunch with my family, including my son who is allergic to gluten and dairy. Even with this restriction, there were many options for him on the menu. The food was very good, but the service was even better. Our waitress was delightful and efficient. The ambience of the place is laid back, neighborhood casual. We definitely will be returning.
They have a normal deal of two appetizers and two meals and one desert for $54. This is an astounding deal for DC and to add to it the food was fresh and delicious. I wish we had a restaurant of with food prices this good and that tasted this good at home. When we come back we will return.
Great food and service. We are definitely going back!
Waiter was over the top good. Great selection of apps and small plates, burgers and pizzas. Ordered from entre selections. Short ribs were great.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here. Food, service, and ambiance were all very good to outstanding. Would come back here in a heartbeat on our next trip in.
Lettuce wraps were great. The dinner taster menu was a great bargain, probably too much food. However, the fries on both entrees were soggy.
Great place to eat brunch with a group of friends!
Use to be one of my favorite places to go to when in DC but their food and customer service has slowly been declining. There are so many other restaurants in DC don’t settle for a place like this.
I took out a group of folks who work in my teams here for a team dinner. We had a great time. The food was very good, and the drinks were also, with a large variety of beers and wines, along with the usual cocktails. Service was excellent. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that my steak frites, which was delicious, was luke warm by the time I got it. Otherwise excellent.
Food was fine, but nothing worth writing home about. Turkey sausage was over cooked and the blueberry pancakes were akin to those made from a box. They weren't super busy but the food took quite some time to get our order.
Waiter was kind and answered lots of questions. It was an experience but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again.
Ate at this establishment twice on last trip to DC. Brined Chicken was excellent as was the fish and chips. The Pear Sangria was also very intriguing and quite light but not too sweet.
The dinner package for 2 is a great value. So delicious. Loved that they served the kids their food while my husband and I ate our appetizers.
We met friends for a Sunday breakfast. Restaurant was very busy, but with our Open Table reservation we were seated right away. Food was good and service was very good. We took a long time to finally look at the menu and order, but our server was very patient.
Great spot for bottomless brunch with a group of friends. Great atmosphere and food!
Host could have been a little more accommodating (one was great, other not so much). Rest of the staff was great (not always the case). Food is always awesome and lots of choices to please everyone (I am vegan and go with non-vegetarians).
My friends and I planned my birthday brunch at Commissary, which my friend had been once before and recommended. The place was packed at 10 am. It was a surprise to us that the brunch that day was Sia-themed - luckily we have nothing against Sia so it was a fun time. A couple waiters wore the infamous black and white wig, and they had a specials menu that had food named after her songs. A little extra decor like cardboard chandeliers were hung from their lighting which was cute. Besides the Sia stuff, the place had a cool kinda vintage hipster vibe. Ended up getting the bottomless mimosas (I think this is only available on certain days, didn't see anything about that online) but we were only allowed the table for an hour and a half - two hours would have been ideal. But they let us take the rest of our drinks up to the bar area which was cool. A nice touch for my birthday, they put an orange slice with an umbrella on my cup. You were also allowed to keep the Sia cups. The food itself was super good and nice quantities for prices you really couldn't beat. I had two giant blueberry pancakes with eggs and sausage for $13 and everyone else enjoyed their food too. Super yummy. We had a ton of fun.
Great food! Service was excellent. Mimosas were awesome!!
Went for early Sunday brunch with family. Service was slow, food mediocre, environment odd -- it happened to be "pop star brunch" day, so the staff were all dressed up like Sia. Felt more nightclubby than a Saturday morning atmosphere . . .
Seated on time and at a pleasant table towards the back. A get together with friends from long ago and the wait staff gave us ample time to makeup our minds while keeping the drinks flowing.
Spring Break from Asheville, NC and our daughters 11th Birthday.
Had open table reservation for 10:00. Unfortunately we arrived at 10:14...hostess gave our table away and put us as “no show” in open table. We had to wait 30-40 minutes for a table. I always thought there was a 15 minutes ‘grace’ period; not so at Commissary.
Our waiter was great and the food yummy. However due to the reservation mishap I will not be returning. Hostess put it on us for not calling that we were running late.
