We got to the Commissary early to have half a happy hour, my 2 replacement hips meant I couldn’t as you had to sit at high bar stools! The portions were too huge! You can take it all away?

Wouldn’t smaller portions be the answer...I was brought to not to waste served food!

Great food (fish tacos were awesome so where the burgers). Our waitress, AJ, was very attentive and helpful. Great atmosphere!

I love this place, it was one of my favorites when I lived in DC, and it was fun to take back a group of work colleagues for dinner and provide them with a great dining experience. The fried chicken is AMAZING, and all around everyone was considering going for lunch the next day! So happy that they are still as good as they used to be.

The service was a little slow, but that may have been due to the size of our group. It’s also pretty loud in the restaurant.

We enjoyed the brunch atmosphere. However, our food was dry. My friend had the frittata, and I had gluten-free pancakes. The pancakes didn't have much flavor and were dry. The coffee was great, and it's a comfortable place to eat and catch up.

Stopped in for a late weekday brunch after the Capital's parade and it was perfect! Food and prices were very reasonable. It wasn't very crowded when we got there at 2 pm. Overall we had a relaxing brunch/lunch!

We were a group of 13 students and one faculty member from the University of Southern California celebrating our final group day in DC. Commissary was a perfect spot to end because the food was excellent, the staff was friendly and attentive to every need, and the atmosphere was fun. They packed up leftovers very nicely. I will bring another group back next year!

The chix in my salad was dry and tough. The food was just so-so. Maybe other dishes are better.

Visited on Pride weekend, and also the deciding game of the Stanley Cup final. Commissary DC embraced both of these local interests--lots of Capitals fans and Pride revelers. Enthusiastic and welcoming atmosphere, great specials and original drinks. Dinner and dessert were delicious and ample, at a reasonable price. And the service was friendly and excellent. I brought a friend and we both had a great time. This place is a real asset to the DuPont Circle neighborhood. Highly recommended!

Few places are able to strike the right balance between all the elements that make a restaurant a standout: food quality, value, service, and atmosphere. This place crushes it and does so consistently. On this visit, Cameron and Samir behind the bar treated us with their usual warm hospitality and attentive service as they have for the many times I've visited previously. They've learned our tastes and preferences and have come to anticipate our requests. The team and management here are on point every time. The food is quality and flavorful. And the atmosphere keeps the whole experience warm and lively. Definitely worth a visit or two.

We were there for a pre-theater dinner. The food was delicious and the waiter and kitchen were very accommodating about our time crunch. Soft-shell crabs, mussels, shrimp risotto, and rhubarb salad were all excellent.

The food was tasty, the decor was nice, the ambiance was lively, but not too loud, and the server was attentive and friendly. For the value, however, I think the prices are a bit high.

We found this place on yelp and stopped here to grab a quick meal after our day trip to the Arboretum. What a fantastic experience. Our server (I don’t remember his name, tall, bald head, warm smile) was friendly, attentive, asked smart questions and even had the foresight to put the salsa/guac/sour cream on the side for the nachos we ordered for the table, after taking note that my mom asked if those things were on the side for her quesadilla. I’m a chef and I know how impressive it is for a server to have that level of attention to detail. Even the busboy made sure my dog had a water bowl. The food was creative and well executed. I will absolutely return and recommend this place to anyone who asks. Please keep up the great work 👍

This is a MUST try if you are in DC! We had an excellent dinner at Commissary DC over Memorial Day weekend! It's a cute spot in the heart of the Logan Circle neighborhood with a fun and inventive menu! All of our dishes were fantastic-truffle popcorn, fried chicken(a must!), Mediterranean pizza, shells and sauce(kids menu!), and quinoa salad with grilled tofu. Our service was fantastic as well! Our son has a life threatening food allergy and the server and chef himself went above and beyond to ease his anxiety and find something delicious and safe for him to eat for dinner! He arrived very nervous and left with a full tummy of delicious foods! We wish we lived closer and could make this our once a week family dinner spot! Thanks again chef Madison!

Food was relatively good, but quality varies. We didn’t like the falafels, they were just like a sticky mass, the chicken wraps, pizza and the frozen white tea with vodka were amazing! I’d give it another try.

Not one to really leave comments on OpenTable, I realized how useful they are to prospective diners when making a decision.

To readers: See that opening? Take it.

The Commissary has become my go-to spot for every day dining and brunching with friends. At the price point and quality, Commissary rarely (if ever) disappoints. Above this, the service at Commissary stands out. Behind the bar, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped onto the set of ‘Cheers’, but this is your own reality. Jack, Samir, and Cameron among others are the cast of your very own episode of Cheers.

In the dining room, you’ll be joined by a host of fantastic servers who will never let your glass sit empty nor keep you hostage with the check when ready to venture to the next part of your day. Perhaps it’s simply because Danayit, Dan, and Natalie are always on top of their game.

No matter whom you sit with in the dining room or in the bar, The Commissary is a Washingtonian treasure.

It’s no wonder that store Manager, Heidi, has been recognized as DC’s Manager of the Year.

Don’t let that open table go to another user. Book it. You won’t be sorry.

Food and atmosphere was very good with the service at a very high level.

No complaints from my family, including a fussy eater, gluten-free allergy and garlic allergy to cater for.

I would definitely return here for an evening meal when I'm next over for a visti.

In town for my son's graduation from University of Maryland. We chose this restaurant based on a TripAdvisor search. Ambiance was nice and the food was great. I had the Spring risotto with ramps and salmon. Delicious. Never had ramps before. I would recommend this restaurant and as well there is a parking garage right nearby.
