Really great brunch. My husband and I had huevos and our friend had the short rib hash. Really yummy. The Gin Bloody Mary's are excellent. Def make a reservation.
Great restaurant. My family headed to DC for my 40th birthday. My wife and kids had never been there. I found this place to be highly recommended on numerous sites, so we gave it a try. First the services was outstanding, very friendly. The waitress even let my 8 year old try the chili before ordering (it was great chili). The portion sizes were huge. The cheese pizza my 4 year old had was big enough for an adult. Loved the atmosphere. We will be heading back on our next trip to DC.
Had only been for happy hour which was excellent. We decided to go for New Year’s Day brunch..Good food, nice portions, great service!
Great server. It got busy and our mimosa refills became less frequent. Food is regular diner food. Moderately priced.
My husband and I ate here on NYE, and the food was amazing. The brussel sprouts and lettuce wraps were out of this world. Then we had the short ribs and the sweet potato gnocchi...both were perfect...the flavors in each dish worked so well together. Finally (not that we had any room left), we had the pear and cranberry empanadas with vanilla ice cream, and believe me, it was worth squeezing in. All around one of the most enjoyable meals we have ever had...the service and food were outstanding.
I really enjoyed my self the service was outstanding and food was amazing
Loved it! Dinner deal is worth every penny!
drove up for the day to see several DC sights, found this little gem. Parking is tight, but there is a public garage down the street. Would drive back from Harrisburg to DC for another yummy dinner.
Great food, great service!
Family holiday brunch- it was very tasty and service was good but it was a bit noisy.
Hostess, as well as drinks and food were amazing. The server was kinda of iffy at the beginning. He was training another server which surprised us because his attitude was not the best. After we joked with him, he came around a bit. All in all, great food, good place to meet friends and enjoy great food together.
Very nice experience. The prices are very reasonable for the fare that is offered. The menu is small but it still seemed like plenty of options.
While the food was decent and the waitress was very attentive, I would certainly say the food was overpriced for the average quality. I felt like it was food I could probably get just about anywhere but at least $10 more expensive per person. Perhaps it would be worth it if the atmosphere felt less generic. Overall, nothing special. I would say that there were a good amount of gluten free options. If you're trying to find a place with those options that your other friends might still eat at, then go for it. Otherwise, I would just go to any other chain restaurant and save your money for a better meal.
Loved the commissary. A little above average service. Great atmosphere, very relaxed but clean and fun decor. Food was phenomenal; so fresh, not overly seasoned or fancy, just great quality. Seasonal drink menu was fun and really yum. Also had a really good beer menu.
We were very impressed with the food and ambiance. The food came quickly but unfortunately so did the check, much quicker than we were ready for. It was obvious we were being pushed out which took some of the enjoyment out of our night. We weren’t asked if we wanted another drink and both my wife and I were pretty low. We are struggling with whether or not to return based on out experience.
Terrific service and great food at a good price. Best wait staff in DC. Natalie was our server and because of her we will be back.
Food was too salty. Service very slow. Told waiter we were on time deadline. Didn’t help. Didn’t have time to eat dessert even tho it was paid for.
The dinner for two tasting menu was a great deal. Got to enjoy great appetizers, entrees, and dessert. Really good service. We'll be back again!
pretty darn tasty healthy options and cocktails. nice variety on menu. i enjoy dining here often.
The staff was great and very accommodating of our group which went from 7 to 11 people very last minute. Much appreciated!
Went to the Britney Spears inspired brunch. The decor was OK, but the employee costumes were worth the visit. For a place that is so well known for their brunch, I expected to be impressed by their food. I was not. The food was mediocre at best, and the specialty beignets we ordered had a large piece of place in it. Being in the industry myself, I didn't make a big deal of it, but after showing the server, a manager didn't even stop by to check in. All in all it was a pretty bad experience. I hope that this was an isolated situation.
Came for my birthday and the Britney Spear theme brunch and had a great time
I always enjoy the Commissary. The food is great and the service was excellent. Our server Sarah was very responsive and check in on us often despite being busy. It's reasonably priced and not too loud. I'll be back.
Food was good and of excellent value. Our server was great, attentive and yet not intrusive.
Food was good, short rib special very nice and good value; pizzas were great. Good selection of whiskey, beer. Sam the Server was terrific. Definitely recommend for a casual night out; friends/family get together.
Great and professional service. Good verity of dishes to choose from. We hade good breakfast
Great food, great service. The curry is fabulous.
The kitchen had an off night. Flatbread pizza was soft and over cheesy; the lettuce wraps with chicken also had an odd taste; the brussel sprout appetizer always a hit but over sauced. Not sure what happened. This is our go to before Studio Theatre.
Happy Hour is only at the bar/lounge area. Too much food. Wait staff described much smaller portions than actual. In reality, they were very large servings, especially the pizza. Brussels Sprouts were DELICIOUS!
The locals eat here...nuff said Go there and enjoy
I always loved going to Commissary but had been able to get there for almost two years. It was like going home, so comfortable and welcoming. Staff is very friendly. Server Delaney especially cheerful. We just missed the 4pm deadline for getting all day breakfast but had a delicious burger with fries and the chicken walnut cranberry salad sandwich with sweet potato fries. Really good. Most important is that one never feels rushed there which means it's a great place to visit with friends and catch up on everything.
Excellent food, including gluten free. Lovely wait staff.
I have been going to Commissary for many years now. Sadly, the quality of food has not been the greatest lately. This past Sunday I ordered an egg and cheese muffin sandwich. The muffin was hard, and outside of egg beyond overcooked. My friend had the gluten-free vegan pancakes. They were overcooked as well to the point where we joked these could be used as saucers. This spot is a nice location while offering options for those with restrictive diets, and affordable prices. Hopefully this experience was a one-time thing :).
I chose this spot for a Bridal Luncheon. It met all expectations and more. Bret was an awesome waiter
Brunch was pretty good! I enjoy coming here because it's easy and not too expensive. It's a comfy place to sit and hang out for a while. I got lox and bagel and it was the saddest bit of lox I've ever eaten. Barely had enough for an open faced bagel. I ordered a side of scrambled eggs and they were overcooked and dry. I still ate it all and enjoyed it.
The food was not bad but portions were small. If I was in the area I'd eat there again but not a place to go out of ones way for.
This was my first time in DC. We chose the Commissary on our first night. They had many vegan and vegetarian options. Sit near the middle on the wall, you have a great view and the energy was better. The kale, mashed potatoes and fried chicken were delish. I also so many folks ordering steak so I imagine it must be good there. The guacamole and salsa are divine.
One of my favorite restaurants in DC - reasonably priced and plenty of room for big groups. The staff are friendly and understanding. Highly recommend!
Have been there several times, have enjoyed in the past. Good seems to have become less than average, at least my plate. Scrambled eggs not scrambled, more like a small omelet folded over a few times and cool. Chicken sausage hard and cool. Coffee also cool and almost cold. Seems as if everything sat for some time before brought out. Service okay and not stellar. As I said, have been several times. Breakfast for two was $54...I expect better and won’t return.
We had a lovely experience as always at Commissary. You have to do an open table or reservation here or else you probably won’t get in! The Brussel sprouts, lettuce wraps, and chicken nachos are incredible. We also love the burgers and pizzas. The noise level is medium, and the lighting is dim- -but this is our preferred style. Our server Olivia was incredible! She is so friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. We look forward to having her serve us again.
