I had Huevos Rancheros which is one of my favorite breakfast items on the menu and as always it was great!
We always enjoy The Commissary! The menu has a good variety of choices from fine dinners to fabulous hamburgers. And the fries are perfect!! The staff is friendly and good! The noise level is high; though I would prefer less noise, you can still manage a conversation. We will eat here every time we are in DC!
Service at all the other tables looked fantastic and staff looked very attentive and friendly, just not the staff member taking care of my table. Came to table for food order, drop food off, and drop check off.
Everything was very nice. We sat outside on the sidewalk dining area and had plenty of room and space from other diners - and some shade! The food was delicious - I had the cauliflower grilled cheese with yummy sweet potato fries, and my friends had the quinoa bowl and burger - all of which was great. Miley was our server and great about refills and checking in. All in all - very good!
Love, love, love! I will definitely return. So many great options
The brussel sprouts are sooo good, a must try! Shrimp linguine was very tasty and the Apple Cinnamon Old Fashion is a perfect after dinner sipping beverage
Disappointed food. The risotto was bland. Long wait for food.
Menu had a nice range of options for those who wanted brunch, lunch and snacks. Good smoothies and terrific service. Inside tables were nicely spaced for covid safety and noise level was comfortable for an easy conversation.
I really enjoyed the Commissary Restaurant! The food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family and give it 4 stars.
Also, my waitresses was awesome and so attentive. She gets kudos for her interaction skills, patience, and lovely demeanor.
If you are looking for a great restaurant, the Commissary is one you should give a try.
Absolutely love Commissary’s everyday happy hour. Perfect place to link with friend while enjoying amazing food and drink options.
We are frequent diners at Commissary, and they never disappoint. The most recent meal was Sunday brunch with friends, and it could not have been better. The food and the service were both first rate.
Terrific food, I will be back!
Food was great and amazing service
This is a great neighborhood place to get elevated bar food and great service and drinks. You can easily come here for cocktails and appetizers or stay for a full meal. Either way the staff is very warm and welcoming and you will enjoy yourself.
I've been dining at Commissary since 2015. I'm a huge fan. I'm sure this is a direct reflection of the pandemic but the service was lacking, big time. We were sat incredibly close to another table, when there were plenty of open seats. (So we moved, because COVID) And then our waitress disappeared and didn't even bring our drinks until moments before our food arrived. It was just disappointing because I've never had a less than amazing experience until this last visit.
Our server was lovely and we don’t blame her but the service in the kitchen was the worst I have ever experienced. No matter what we asked for it took forever. The manager was rude when we asked why it took 30 min to get a piece of cake? He did take it off the bill but was very rude!!!! I would not come back!!!
Food was average at best compared to other restaurants in the area. Parking is a challenge and the service was extremely slow. A little more attention to the small things could definitely improve the experience but they have a long road to get anything above a average rating. This is a one and done restaurant visit.
We enjoyed our dinner on the outdoor patio. The tables are spaced comfortably apart and the service was very good. My husband started with the cesaer salad which he liked and I had the summer salad which was great--it had some unusual, tasty ingredients to liven it up. I had the roast chicken which was delicious and huge--too much for one meal, and my husband had the steak which was excellent. Carrot cake for dessert was ok--not as spiced and flavorful as we like it. We highly recommend eating here, especially on a beautiful evening when you can enjoy the patio.
Nice Saturday am brunch outside.
This place is terrible. We had the worst service that I've ever received at a restaurant. When we arrived for our reservation the restaurant was not too busy. The greeter seated us 3 feet from another party, but said that they were leaving shortly, which they did, however the next party was seated at the same table. Not a big deal, but interesting since DC was in general very strict re: Covid precautions and there were plenty of open tables We then waited 15 minutes for our server to come to our table. When she came, she took the order of the party that arrived after us first. She then came and took our order. Our drinks arrived 10 minutes later. Thirty minutes later (55 minutes total) our appetizer and salad arrived. Neither looked appealing at all. We asked about the delay and said half-seriously that we were about to leave. She ignored our inquiry about the service and asked what type of dressing we would like. We then stated that this delay was unacceptable. She was unapologetic and said she would get the manager. We walked to the front desk where both she and the manager were and told the manager of our experience. The server started to yell at us and asked if we had ever worked in food service. The manager seemed overwhelmed by the situation. We paid the manager for our two drinks and left. We left, and went to an Indian restaurant nearby called Pappe, which was excellent.
Great place. The food is good and plentiful. We only had one problem in the the sweet potato fries seemed to have too much seasoning on them. Other than that, Annie, our server was great. She was sweet, funny and really honest whenever we asked about the menu.
Commissary is truly the neighborhood best kept secret, if there is such a thing. For many years it stayed the same quality: friendly staff, great food, and above all, great ambiance!
We love Commissary. It's our go-to place for brunch and dinner. The food is excellent and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.
the food unfortunately was bland and overpriced for what it was.
Prices were reasonable and there were numerous vegetarian options. Atmosphere was laid back, perfect for a casual Sunday brunch & and our server ( wish I remembered his name) was excellent! Already looking forward to returning.
The breakfast menu was interesting and tasty. Jonathan provided excellent service.
I've been to Commissary for both brunch, lunch, and dinner and have enjoyed my meal each time. Whether it's a classic American breakfast or a burger, the food did not disappoint, and I'm looking forward to going back again to order the menu items I haven't been able to try yet.
We were looking for an outdoor spot to enjoy the nice September evening and less risk of Covid indoors. Commissary usually has solid food and tonight was no different except that both our burgers were well done and we ordered md/rare. Also it took too long for the food to arrive. Staff was good and helpful though.
Went for a date with hubby socially distant tables outside Very good service and food will return
It is always a positive experience at Commissary. I would suggest they install a sink outside the water closet to allow patrons to wash their hands. I did wait over 15 minutes for ladies to exit from the stalls. That wait time does seem odd to me. What could take me 15 minutes in a public bathroom.... I only wanted to wash my hands upon entering the restaurant. A sink outside the stalls would be a plus. Hand sanitizer is okay but water and soap is my way - keeping it old school.
Our waitress was Taylor. She is exceptional in her hospitality service. The food was very good. Really, everything was done professionally from the host area, server, person dropping food.
best food i love this place
Good place for a date. Didn’t love the seating, server did a good job despite it being very busy.
The best spot for weekend brunch. Tried the fried chicken breakfast sandwich - DELICIOUS! Highly recommend any of their omelets. And the best Bloody Marys!!
It's a great brunch spot! Our waiter Alex was wonderful and the food is delicious. I'd highly recommend it.
I have not been here in over a year but the food is still delicious! The service was also good. You can tell that they are short staffed but our server was great and had the best personality. A really good place to enjoy breakfast/brunch on the weekend.
Pulled chicken quesadilla, roasted chicken and white pizza, all absolutely delicious. Great place. Friendly, attentive service and welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely go back.
Went before a show. Good service good food. Good time
We were greeted right away very nicely. All the staff was genuinely friendly. The food was excellent and the farm to table freshness shined through. Great, casual atmosphere and we were surprised they weren’t busier but we did go kind of early. Located in a very young, busy area that didn’t feel touristy.
