Our server Taylor was very nice. The blood Mary’s are delicious and spicy. I have the potato pancakes. Delicious. I’ll be back. Parking is a pain but to be expected.
Great food and great service.
There were several large groups and too few servers. Our reservations was for 6:30. We were both there by 6:40, couldn't order until after 7. We had an 8pm curtain and had to gulp down our food. which came close to 7:30.
Great food and service
The appetizer special, Kung Pao Brussel sprouts, was quite good. Our entrees, short ribs and fried chicken, were meh. Not bad, just not anything that would bring us back.
I went with my fiance for my birthday. All the staff was super friendy and helpful. The food was delicious and they even put a sparkler in our desert without Singing after they were informed how easily I embarass. will defineatly be returning the next time I am in D.C.
We were a party of three, tried the salmon which was very good, fish and chips, good but both the fish and chips could have been a bit crispier, and the lettuce wraps, the stir fry chicken was very tasty, just a bit messy trying to wrap it with the lettuce. Our server was amazing, she was able to get up popcorn even though it is only on the bar menu, the popcorn is amazing! She checked back frequently, poured on wine.
We tried the cheesecake and the special dessert, a tre leche cake with cinnamon and raisons both were yummy. Over-all a great experience, perfect before a going to Studio.
A quiet birthday dinner with a few friends and family. Our server was very accommodating even when a late guest joined. He also went above and beyond to ensure food allergies were avoided by speaking with the kitchen and making recommendations.
unfriendly person on the other side of call. it was a super slow afternoon but they still put us by the bathroom. I was specific about the reason for the luncheon. Not worth my time ever going back. rather surprised with all of this. it was just really not good all around. There was also hair in my food (burger salad), but I wasn't about to make a fuss with others there and mediocre service to begin with.
Friendly buzzing place with an extensive menu. Great for a group - popular so reservation needed. Great food - delicious eggs!
AMAZING! Had my birthday breakfast here and it was super smooth. I had my parents, wife and kids (and our dog) and we were all welcomed and treated super well. Excellent DC hospitality. Thank you so much!
Very pleasant experience dining on the terrace. Fried chicken (boneless) and pork chop we’re both cooked to perfection. Mushroom risotto was the weakest link on our selection. Our waitress was outstanding!
Went for brunch. Good food and nice mimosa options
Friendly and attentive waitress, good food, and the couple’s deal is a great value
Dining with daughter who relocated to DC
I was very impressed by this place. I will definitely be back!
A very nice place, good is good and service in very kind and friendly.
Waiter took a long time to take order, and brought out the wrong plates. Sweet potato fries were soggy. Fish taco were good
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great!
What a miserable experience. The food was barely edible. Next to us on the patio came and sat a couple with two of their dog. They dogs were not social and would go insane every time another dog walked by. This happened every 10–15 min. The dog would bark, jump and cause complete chaos on the patio. This was so disrespectful of other patrons. Why would you sit these people in the middle of other tables and then not do anything about it when it became an issue. And then on top of it the food was just horrible. Don’t waste your $. Go somewhere else.
I found this place on OpenTable and made reservations. This place has great food and the service was outstanding. Its tucked away in DuPont Circle and the locals seem to know about this gem. Glad I found it and will be back again.
Unremarkable dining experience. Server was pleasant, yet inattentive. Had to ask for cream for the coffee and syrup for the pancakes. Blueberry pancakes were very good. Bagel was probably a frozen Lenders bagel, small for the lox and bagel platter. They gave one small ball of cream cheese, half the size of a golf ball. When I asked for more, I was given another small ball that had blackish purple gunk on the entire underside. It was replaces with a packaged “cream cheese spread” which was watery. We were seated in the back, across from the entrance to the restrooms and kitchen entrance. A bathroom type smell emitted from the area. Not at all worth the price.
Food was fine, server was fairly inattentive and too busy working his other tables to check in on us.
Entrée was ok but not outstanding.
Dessert quality just average
Service average also.
Excellent and attentive service. Great with kids.
I was rather disappointed that I made this reservation and when we arrived at the restaurant they were not ready for our party. We were not seated until 12:30 and did not finished lunch until 1:30. Several people had to leave because they had meetings starting at 1. Although the food and service were excellent, I am not sure I would have another lunch there during the work day.
The Commissary is one of my most favorite establishments in the neighborhood. I love the summer specials, especially the watermelon gazpacho!
Everything was fine, but the service was a bit slower. I noticed what seemed to be not too busy servers walking around whilst waiting on our server to take our orders. I did notice, though, that there were 2 other large-ish groups dining here at the same time on top of mostly full tables. It was a good day for this restaurant.
The service was amazing. Our server Alex was lovely. He was super helpful and attentive. He gets 5 stars. The food was bad. Do NOT order the potato pancakes. They are not shredded they are cubed and poorly microwaved. My egg had runny egg white and the breakfast quesadilla was filled with goopy cheese and undercooked veggies. Hopefully the manager will address the cooks and fix these issues.
I've loved the Commissary for years. Treasure the griddle specialties like the pancakes and the organic eggs are special every time. I also look forward to the friendly staff, many of whom live in or near the neighborhood. The only thing keeping my review from a resounding 5 stars was a snarky interaction with the host. I was 4 minutes late for my reservation because I was trying to find parking. When I got to the stand to check in I told him my name and the first words out of his mouth were "You're late and you didnt call." Seriously? I had a question about the parking that he couldnt answer, which is fine because he doesnt own a car, but the attitude was like I was putting him out for even asking the question. Apologies for being a few minutes late but the whole tone really dampened my enthusiasm that had built since the day before for my visit (and the blueberry pancakes) Likely a tough day for the host and Im sure my experience will be the usual 5-star worthy rating again in the future.
Great for brunch. I do not recommend Commissary for dinner.
Popular and loud brunch place with nice menu selections. Food is good and my husband was particularly happy to be able to order gluten free pancakes. Avocado benedict also good. Service attentive. Good value.
We waited a hour for our food. The waiter didn't check on us to update us. The food got here and some of it was really good and some of it was very average. My sister had visit for Brunch and said it was a lot better, I guess dinner was a miss.
I sent family there for dinner and they loved it. They stayed the food was great and the service was perfect.
The quinoa breakfast bowl was delicious. Service was fast and friendly. Atmosphere was very comfortable.
The food was amazing!!!! My mom and I split the curry meatballs, Thai lettuce wraps, and cauliflower. This was our first meal after getting into the city around 1pm. Hit the spot! And Spencer was so nice. We asked for non tourist suggestions and he was so accommodating and friendly! We now have a list of things to do and plan to come back for breakfast!
Great service with a 17 person group — brought out desert and sang happy birthday without anybody asking specifically for it. Would recommend!
The food was great and the cocktails were amazing. The staff was friendly and attentive... finding a good yet not crazy expensive brunch stop in DC is hard. I definitely recommend this place
Super cool atmosphere with unbelievable food at an affordable price (for DC anyway). Best carbonara I’ve ever had and kids were happy too. Can’t wait to return.
Went there for a date night with my wife. She got fish and chips and I got fish tacos. The food was high quality. Her cocktail was good and they had a small, but nice selection of beer. It was about $2-3 too expensive per meal, but the "meal deal" they had would have been fair if we were hungry enough for 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert.
