This is the first time I’ve been to Commissary in a couple of years. I remember it being a crowdpleaser with visitors which is why I chose it. The ambience was still excellent and the service was fine, but the food was disappointing. Shrimp appetizer was bland, the chicken on my risotto was dry, and my friend’s steak medallions were mediocre. It’s a fun place to meet friends, but I would not go there for a good meal.
Awesome restaurant, food was amazing! Will definitely come back. :)
Very relaxed atmosphere. Fresh food!
casual, food was good, early reservation so not too much noise, relaxing and fun
They advertise taco Tuesday but would not allow us to order it. The tasting menu for two also wasn’t available so the menu online is not accurate. They say is next to a screaming baby while there were 8 other tables available. We asked to move and they refused to help us. Service and food was great. But the front of the house needs help.
Food and service were great, and the drinks we’re even better! Great overall experience.
I love commissary and usually have a great experience but this time our food was not good. Two people, including myself, had the potato pancakes and they were thick and undercooked, very chewy. Then the scrambled eggs were overcooked, they were hard almost like a badly cooked omelet. It was disappointing because I talked this place up to my guests and it was embarrassing that the food was so underwhelming. Service was great and so was the coffee!
Our experience was so awesome! Our waitress, I think she was Nadine B??? Was fantastic, very attentive to our large party and kept us all well watered and happy. The food was outstanding for everyone. Thanks for an amazing experience!
We enjoyed a great meal with our family for Christmas Eve. We would definitely return!
Commissary is always great! The food and service are exceptional. Definitely one of my favorites.
Place was Awesome! Ask for Natalie....food was fantastic! Worth the trip.
Dirty. We couldn’t even bring ourselves to dine there because the glasses they poured our water in were filthy. I’m talking food, fingerprints, lipstick you name it, itwas on there. We had to leave because we couldn’t even imagine what the back of the kitchen was like.
Jack was very hospitable . We had
Great service and the food was
Excellent. This is a great place to bring the family. It is very kid friendly . The pork chop was outstanding. Overall a great friendly neighborhood experience.
Food was good. Service excellent. We had a large party of 10 and they handled us beautifully. Thank you.
Nice and friendly place. I had a hamburger and asked for it to be medium rare, but it came back very rare. They redid it and the second one was still a bit rare for a burger, but was ok. Didn't complain the second time. Nice relaxing place.
It was amazing
Excellent food, atmosphere and location. A little deceptive on the pricing for the "dinner for 2" special, but otherwise everything was good.
Great brunch!! Loved the bourbon apple cider 😋
Best pancakes ever! Loved the ambiance and the service.
Our service was amazing! After ordering the braised lamb shank, I was told they had actually sold out of lamb. They offered to either switch the meal as a whole or sub filet for the lamb that way I could still eat the rest of the dish as intended! I really appreciated their flexibility and amazing service.
Pre-theater for Studio theater. The food was generally good across the board. Not exceptional, but generally good. One of our dishes (crispy salmon) was very good. The rest - roasted chicken dish, a fried chicken dish, and a burger - we’re all good. The brownie sundae dessert wasn’t exactly innovative, but it was quite good, as was the chicken wrap appetizer. Service was very good. I’d go again as a pre theater dinner.
Birthday dinner with friends turned out super well! I enjoyed my time here, Dedra (hopefully I spelled her name correctly) was great and she kept a great balance between checking in and letting us be social. Sometimes people do too much of either and so she definitely made this a positive evening here. My second time here with a group and both experiences were lovely.
Britney Brunch is my favorite event each year! It never fails to entertain and be a great time. Also the food is great - highly recommend. Already looking forward to next year.
Loved the menu, and can't wait to go back to try more items. We both had the Fall Risotto dish, one with shrimp and one with salmon, and it was delicious. Also loved the fresh green salad. Good service too.
I was amazed by the number of Happy Hour offerings. Something yummy from every category so everyone in your party can be happy and stuffed. We enjoyed a lovely Rose Prosecco ($5/glass), and a pizza, a fish taco, and vegetarian nachos. The nachos and the pizza were meals in themselves!! I wouldn't usually take nachos home with me, but these were phenomenal, and I had half of the portion left. The fish taco was delicious... and I would order two of them for a full meal. Incredible value. Looking forward to returning.
Our servers was great, food not bad but it’s expensive. I am seeing a trend. Washington is expensive for food and parking.
The food was great, and we really liked the atmosphere at Commissary DC. It was our first visit and we will definitely be back! Our dishes included the pork chop, crispy skin salmon, veg. rissoto, and lamb shank and all were delicious!
A birthday dinner with five friends and a retirement dinner with eleven friends at Commissary had both been so pleasant that when we decided to celebrate our twenty-fifth anniversary with seventeen friends, we knew just the place to go. Restaurant staff with whom we interacted before, during, and after the meal were all friendly and helpful. In particular, Olivia and Evan served our large party with great skill. All of our guests complimented the food and drink, which they enjoyed in an atmosphere conducive to good fellowship. A special dessert brought out for the two of us was a delightful surprise. Thank you for a memorable evening!
Brunch was great!
Was looking for multiple places across DC to host 18 people without having to pay a $2000 food and beverage min. This was the perfect place. The food was really good. Definitely recommend if you're looking to host 0-18 people.
Very casual-looking place but great food, great service. Not somewhere to take your boss but a fab place to go with friends. Or a date. Comfortable, with a great menu. Attentive service.
Family get together
Good food but service wasn't great. Appetizer was brought to another table then wasn't brought until after our meals came. The food took forever and server didn't come by often.
It was nice. The fish and chips are amazing. I have really bad depression and have thought about ending my life. I enjoyed the staff.
Good food but be prepared for a loud crowded environment. We were seated along the edge in an area adjacent to low center seating. It was crowded and loud with a large group of friends. Made it difficult for anyone to get by without frequently bumping into my poor husband.
Had a wonderful brunch for two for only $60. Well worth it.
This was my first visit to Commissary DC and 2 friends joined me. We ordered and shared the Mambo wings for a starter. Then Fall Risotto, the Crab special, and kale cauliflower pizza for our meal. Everything was delicious, nice and light... well the crab dish was a little salty. The group could talk without yelling at each other, because the music was at great level. Ms. Natalie was attentive and pleasant. I'm glad the group agreed to try Commissary DC.
We had a great time with a group of 9 last night! Our server Natalie and the manager were amazing! Very friendly and accommodating when our party grew from 7 to 9 people!! The food and drinks are delicious and the ambiance was casual but fun!
Always feels like home. Love this place
Good food and service as always. I enjoy brunch, lunch, dinner or just cocktails at the bar here. Feels like family.
