My veggie plate was delicious! Not many DC restaurants offer this option, so if you're craving a veggie plate, make Commissary your next stop. Also, the Michael Scott quote on the menu warmed my heart.
Good atmosphere, food and service. I will definitely go back on a date, special occasion or just because.
This was a really good choice.
Admittedly not from the area, so absolutely grain of salt this review. Perfectly fine spot for breakfast, catering to the younger crowds in the area. My partner loved his pancakes and the avocado toast had a lovely poached egg on it.
Food was okay. Left feeling hungry. Service was terrible.
The food was good and so was the service!
the fried chicken was dry and the curry meatball ap didn't hit the mark. everything else was very good though (especially service)
Sat outside at prime time for dinner and split a meal with a friend. Server could not have been more gracious when, in many instances, splitting would prompt a dirty look. She was terrific. However, greeting by host was terrible ... no eye contact no smile no questions about inside outside or any other seating preference, just whispering to a server about us. I experience the very same greeting at Logan tavern and have come to expect and almost accept unprofessionalism at check in at both restaurants and don’t let it affect my rating.
Decent food for a decent price.
Was happy to see table was already set up when I arrived ahead of time. Not sure if our server was new, but her sense of urgency just wasn’t there, she did no table maintenance at all, in fact the checks were dropped and no plates had been cleared. BUT she was very sweet and pleasant. I think a manager should have been more proactive.
Our waitress was lovely! So friendly and personable, love her!
Commissary was a good find. We went there for a surprise party, and the staff were accommodating with our fluctuating schedule, even though they were super busy. Our waiter was very patient and friendly. We ordered several appetizers for the table, and they were all great, but I have to especially shout out the shrimp and the vegetable nachos. Both soooo yummy. The nachos are HUGE too. All our food came out together, even though we had a large party, and everyone enjoyed their meals. The one negative was some of the cocktails. Some of them were yummy (like the rose sangria) and some of them were just totally bleh (like the peach old fashioned, I think it was).
Came here for a go away/bday dinner. They were super accommodating and great overall.
My husband and I were very disappointed with our experience here. It turned out to be a neighbourhood hangout, sports bar. It was loud and the food was not a good value
It was my first time there. Really cool and relaxed ambiance. The portions were very generous and the server was extremely polite.
We had a wonderful dinner at Commissary - per usual and our server Olivia was great! Commissary offers new American fare (everything from flatbread to burgers) with unique tastes and many vegetarian options. They just re-did the menu but still kept the classics and we’re loving the changes. More drink options were available - I got the Washington State Riesling and my boyfriend got the Great Lakes lager.
We like to get a bunch of appetizers and share everything because these are some of the best menu items. We got the Mumbo Wings, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Nachos with chicken... and usually we get the flash fried Brussels sprouts (they’re out of season right now). Great as always! Highly reccomended especially if you’re in the Logan Circle/East Dupont area.
I was sadly underwhelmed. The food was good, great location, nice ambiance. But all of that was ruined by the bad service. I made a reservation for 6 at 11 am for brunch and when we showed up on time they didn’t have space for 6 people. They gave our table to a group that showed up over an hour late and was only a party of four, they were still there after we left. We had to wait 20 mins for a 4 person table, and the table was empty when we came in, we were only waiting for them to write down the name of walk-in customers without reservations... When our food came out they just handed it to random people, not even listening to us saying it wasn’t ours. This was especially bad since we had a vegetarian in the group who unknowingly got someone else’s order that was similar to hers but with meet in it. Though they are bottomless they rarely come around to top off your drink. I do not recommend.
Commissary DC was a great place to have dinner with family and friends. The hostess was warm and accommodating as we wanted to sit outside but our reservations were for a table inside. Our waitress was personable, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was simple but delicious. We devoured the chicken nachos and the fish tacos were excellent. Summer drinks were on special and both my husband and I tried two of them which we both really liked. We were in town for a soccer tournament as feel luck we found Commissary. Saturday night was well spent.
While the food was okay and came out quickly, the service was unimpressive. Our waiter was completely disinterested and didn’t bother to even look at us while taking our order, then when we had finished, he brought us the bill without asking if we wanted coffee or dessert. I see others have said this as well.
The hummus platter was a meal in itself, and the breakfast tacos and crab benedict were both killer!
Took my girlfriend out for Birthday breakfast.
Service was excellent, food was delicious, and the prices were great compared to the other breakfast places we were looking at.
Excellent food and service in a trendy part of DC. The vibe was a little too forced trendy and there was some interesting furniture choices (thankfully not for us), but overall a great experience
It was a beautiful night so we sat outside. The service and food were both very good.
Our waiter seem to be totally disinterested in serving us. The service was very slow and once our food arrived , he checked once to see how everything was. The fried chicken was so dry I get hardly swallow it and the sauce that came with it had so much horseradish in it, I thought my head would explode after the first bite. The waiter never came around to refill the water and as we were finishing the meal, he brought the check without asking if we wanted to have dessert or coffee.
Neat place, good vibe. Good drinks. Food not bad. Enjoyed ourselves.
We may have arrived at a bad time - had reservations for 6 people for lunch on a Friday, arrived on time, had to wait to be seated. Waited forever to be served. Food wasn't great - service inattentive. Even had difficulty getting the bill to pay. They were very busy. Appeared to be several graduation celebrations going on. Staff up for these types of days......
Great space, delicious food, friendly service. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
This past weekend we had some guest in from out of town and we wanted to take them to the Commissary for brunch. One of my friends is vegan and the cooks were able to accommodate her needs. Overall a very good experience and another reason why we keep coming back for brunch.
This restaurant was ok, not great but ok. Good food and decent service.
Overall I enjoy my time at this restaurant. Howver, this time I was disappointed because they did nothing special to celebrate my friend’s birthday even though I mentioned it in the RSVP and to the hostess in advance.
Delicious. Great service with Natalie. Will definitely return on next trip to DC
Out on the front patio and was a great time - wonderful meal for 2 deal!
Great food. Lots of quality gluten free options. Knowledgeable wait staff. Good sized portions
Always fantastic, food is amazing and so affordable
I felt this restaurant was OK for a neighborhood bar/restaurant. I had the lamb chops and they were decent, but very small quantity. The atmosphere there is nice for a dinner I would describe as maybe slightly above casual.
Birthday - our waitress handled our large group so great
Great food, great atmosphere! Would highly recommend
Brunch was very enjoyable
