Outstanding breakfast food. My only regret is we didn't try more food and drinks. The drinks were fantastic as well. The best kept secret in DC for brunch. Better than Founding Farmers.
Great service and food! We sat outside and it was a perfect summer's night out.
Seated on time. Waiter was amazing. Food was timely and delicious. Overall great experience for three generations of family
Great experience! The staff was very helpful with our large party and the food was amazing.
Excellent! Fun, great vibe, yummy food and pleasant staff. Would definitely return
Our food was awesome. The server was great and we were so full by the time we left. The bill was reasonable as well. I can't wait to try their brunch!
Tried the mango mimosa and it was delicious! We had the breakfast quesadilla and pancake platter, everything was great! Also the staff was very friendly !
Great food and quick service. Breakfast was filling but not overwhelming in portion size.
I had read some reviews of this restaurant and they were leaning toward high praise. Unfortunately, I can not concur. I went to Commissary DC for the 4th of July brunch. First, I was put off by a phone call on the day before I went that the bill would drop in 90 minutes at which point I would have to leave. I had never heard of such a policy so I asked him to repeat himself. He did and I was thrown. Of course when I arrived with my guest I expected people falling out of the door after that threatening call. Well, that was not the case either upon arrival or upon leaving. Why the call ?????
The food was good but sparse. I was still hungry when I left. The service was good and the waitress was very nice. However, I don't think that I will be returning . Sorry, I wanted this to be a good outing.
The service was extremely slow. The food took forever to arrive despite the restaurant not being that busy.
Friends visiting Dc
Great place! Sat outside and it was comfortable even in the 95 degree weather with all the umbrellas. Service was amazing and the food was great! Pretty good deal with the breakfast for 2. Would definitely recommend.
Horrible! Bird poo on the menu and table, waiter didn’t completely re-clean the table. Fish tacos still had paper cooked in the undercooked fish: totally inedible. Nice urban street ambience if you want to get a drink and people watch.
We met some long-time out-of-state friends here for a casual dinner and had an enjoyable time. The food was very good and the service was excellent--attentive without being overbearing or annoying. The restaurant was a bit loud, but that comes with a lively place. Overall, a nice evening out.
Our meals were great! The pattie melt was the best I’ve had! The fried chicken was outstanding! My cocktail, Shut Up And Dance, was fantastic! Our waiter, Blake (I believe), was wonderful! The restaurant was fun, cool, and in a great location for walking around afterward. I’d definitely recommend it!
Awesome food and service.
The food and service were very good. My only complaint is that we sat outside and the tables are practically on top of each other. You had to have other diners get up from their seats in order to squeeze into your own seat.... when the diner next to me got his food he was literally hitting me with his elbow when he ate.
Our server was fantastic!
We got to the Commissary early to have half a happy hour, my 2 replacement hips meant I couldn’t as you had to sit at high bar stools! The portions were too huge! You can take it all away?
Wouldn’t smaller portions be the answer...I was brought to not to waste served food!
Great food (fish tacos were awesome so where the burgers). Our waitress, AJ, was very attentive and helpful. Great atmosphere!
I love this place, it was one of my favorites when I lived in DC, and it was fun to take back a group of work colleagues for dinner and provide them with a great dining experience. The fried chicken is AMAZING, and all around everyone was considering going for lunch the next day! So happy that they are still as good as they used to be.
The service was a little slow, but that may have been due to the size of our group. It’s also pretty loud in the restaurant.
Great, casual restaurant with a diverse menu. Brunch looked amazing too.
The staff was great, food was delicious, and prices were reasonable.
We enjoyed the brunch atmosphere. However, our food was dry. My friend had the frittata, and I had gluten-free pancakes. The pancakes didn't have much flavor and were dry. The coffee was great, and it's a comfortable place to eat and catch up.
Bagel box breakfast options were great. Servers were attentive and service was quick but not rushed. Overall great breakfast!
Stopped in for a late weekday brunch after the Capital's parade and it was perfect! Food and prices were very reasonable. It wasn't very crowded when we got there at 2 pm. Overall we had a relaxing brunch/lunch!
fun vibe and good food, but a bit loud for conversation and service was a tad slow during peak brunch hour.
Wonderful service and great food at unbeatable prices!
We were a group of 13 students and one faculty member from the University of Southern California celebrating our final group day in DC. Commissary was a perfect spot to end because the food was excellent, the staff was friendly and attentive to every need, and the atmosphere was fun. They packed up leftovers very nicely. I will bring another group back next year!
The chix in my salad was dry and tough. The food was just so-so. Maybe other dishes are better.
Visited on Pride weekend, and also the deciding game of the Stanley Cup final. Commissary DC embraced both of these local interests--lots of Capitals fans and Pride revelers. Enthusiastic and welcoming atmosphere, great specials and original drinks. Dinner and dessert were delicious and ample, at a reasonable price. And the service was friendly and excellent. I brought a friend and we both had a great time. This place is a real asset to the DuPont Circle neighborhood. Highly recommended!
Great burgers! Built to order!
Great burgers! Comfortable to have dinner alone when on the road.
Few places are able to strike the right balance between all the elements that make a restaurant a standout: food quality, value, service, and atmosphere. This place crushes it and does so consistently. On this visit, Cameron and Samir behind the bar treated us with their usual warm hospitality and attentive service as they have for the many times I've visited previously. They've learned our tastes and preferences and have come to anticipate our requests. The team and management here are on point every time. The food is quality and flavorful. And the atmosphere keeps the whole experience warm and lively. Definitely worth a visit or two.
The French toast was amazing! Service was excellent, and prices were reasonable.
We were there for a pre-theater dinner. The food was delicious and the waiter and kitchen were very accommodating about our time crunch. Soft-shell crabs, mussels, shrimp risotto, and rhubarb salad were all excellent.
The food was tasty, the decor was nice, the ambiance was lively, but not too loud, and the server was attentive and friendly. For the value, however, I think the prices are a bit high.
The vegan tofu burrito was a bit bland.
Cocktails were delicious and all food was great. Loved the quinoa salad with salmon. Our server was warm and welcoming. She made good recommendations and was efficient and patient with our rowdy group.
