Our server was a little inexperienced as she had trouble opening up the wine we ordered.
The Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts were delicious, but this place needs more than three vegetarian dinner options (not counting a salad) because the cauliflower tacos and mushroom ragout weren’t all that. I might come back for happy hour and apps or maybe desert and drinks but not for dinner.
Cozy, healthy and great service
Great menu. Friendly service. Always a solid dining selection. I enjoy their quinoa bowls and had their huevos rancheros with chorizo this morning and that was great too. Portion was just right.
Went here with friends. Food is very good. Service was fine. It was more little things like our entrees took a minute but it wasn’t bad
Just went to get brunch. They have a really good brunch menu and we’ve gone now several times. It’s a great place.
New Year’s Eve
My favorite meal at Commissary is the fried chicken. Unfortunately, it was overlooked and dry on New Years Eve.
Food was amazing - bottomless mimosas were promptly refilled but had too much orange juice for my liking
Took 25 minutes for the waiter to come over with water. Restaurant was not overly busy—he was just too busy chatting with other customers who seemed to be friends. He even sat down at their table at one point. Then he was rude and curt while we ordered. The food was good as usual, but not impeccable. Overall disappointing visit to a usually reliable spot.
This was our second time at the Commissary and we loved it just as much as the first time. Tomás was very friendly and helpful. The food was delightful! I personally love the Kung Pao Brussels, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and Lemon & Herb Roasted Chicken! The rest of my party had quac, fish tacos, bbq chicken pizza and all the plates left completely cleared! The drink menu was fantastic- something for everyone! The price was incredibly reasonable for a dinner in DC. Many Entrees options between 14-20, drinks around 10 and apps around 10. All had generous portions!
10/10 would recommend to anyone - visiting or resident!
Of course, we still can’t remember what this restaurant was once called among the same eatwelldc group. But the Commissary DC is here now and what a meal. Often when traveling all day, you just need some easy food on your stomach at the end of the day. Well here it is. You’re not going to get any fresher than the Commissary DC. It was like the Chef know all about me and my not so happy tummy and quested to make it right. Well Chef you succeed. The beet tartar. OMG! My body loved it. The beet hummus? Where do you come up with these dishes? Kung Pao Brussels & Sesame- Ginger Chicken wraps were for a lack of a better word FABULOUS! Give a shout to our waitress. Again, very knowledgeable about the menu. And the one time I stumped her on an ingredient, she paused went and spoke with the chef and returned with an answer. Commissary DC Thank you for setting a perfect eating mood for our stay while in DC.
Always amazing! Always friendly! Fantastic environment!
I was really disappointed. I have never been in DC and was trying to book a really nice late Xmas lunch with my husband and son. I had no idea this restaurant was in a Hyatt hotel. It looked like any ordinary coffee shop which was so NOT the vibe I got on Open Table or I never would have booked it. Ruined the whole day for me. Open table needs to share more info. UGH
Great food quality at a reasonable price. Service by Samir was awesome. He was attentive and engaging with us and our children. Have been to DC twice and the Commissary twice.
Thanks for taking great care of our party of 8! There was something for everyone on the menu and our server was very attentive and understanding of our large party moving around a bit to catch up. Also, great value for the area! It's very hard to find breakfast options and especially so reasonably priced.
We really loved this restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the food was excellent. The menu has a wide selection of appetizers and entrees, a nice wine list and drink menu. Our food was perfectly prepared and very good. The margarita was one of the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant for a tasty lunch or dinner.
It’s always a great place to go for a special meal.
Commissary provides consistently delicious meals at very reasonable prices. Service is friendly.
Food was incredible. Waiter did not put our food in at the correct time so we waited 1 hour 15 minutes for food. Said a table of 28 got their ticket in right before our table of 2. Pretty lame excuse. Took our food to go.
Everything was great except we had a 10:45 a.m. reservation and had to wait a half hour to get seated. They kept holding two 2-person tables to push together to make a 4-top, but after a half hour of waiting to be seated, there was no one sitting at the 4-top and they still wouldn't make those tables available for two people each. Whose reservation is more important? People who are there or people who aren't? A busy Saturday morning for sure, but the reservations weren't managed well.
Our server Delaney was lovely! The maple brined fried chicken was outrageously good!!!
Our waitress was so helpful. She was patient with us and didn’t recommend anything just because it was mor expensive and I really appreciated that. My husband’s friend chicken was amazing. My vegan burger was a vegan book, ok but my choice should have been different.
The food was good but I would recommend it for lunch rather than dinner.
My server was outstanding (Steven?) - The maître d’/ greeter ( slim young caucasian gentleman) left a lot to be desired in is attitude- Steven saved the day! Everything else was outstanding!
One of the best brunch spots in DC! Never disappoints.
Great options, delicious food, good service, friendly staff. Yummy bloody mary, made in-house.
Always fun to go to Commissary.
Good food but rude staff. We had a reservation at 6 and enjoyed a nice dinner with friends. The bill was brought out to us at about 7:20 and we put down our credit cards. Our waitress came back with our receipts and after we signed them and tipped (20%) she returned shortly telling us that we needed to leave soon because there was a reservation coming in. She apologized and told us that we could hang out and talk a bit more but her manager wanted her to let us know.
Not long after the manager, a crusty little guy, comes over and puts both of his hands on the table, leans in and asks us to leave. It was ridiculous. If they're trying to lose customers, they're doing an awesome job.
Amazing as always
Great food. Don’t miss this place.
Great menu selections and great atmosphere for a kid-friendly restaurant! Service and food were excellent !
Had dinner with a cousin while in DC for a conference. Saw the reviews for Commissary on Trip Advisor and decided to try it. Great service, casual atmosphere. Had the cocktail special which came with a butternut squash tart- delicious! Chose the sides with a salad for dinner- wish I had known that “root vegetables “ were mostly potatoes. Other than that- super.
This is my favorite restaurant in DC. Never disappoints.
Everything here was spectacular! From the food, to the prices, to the ambience and the service (our waitress Natalie was great!). We had the breakfast for 2 deal which was $55 & included coffee, a bottle of champagne + 2 juices, & an entree each. I had the breakfast tacos & my girlfriend ordered the huevos rancheros... SO GOOD! You pretty much make your own mimosas, which we didn't mind at all given that we prefer more champagne over juice in our mimosas anyway. Overall great experience, & I can definitely say I'd be a regular here if I wasn't from out of town.
This place was awesome for the family. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The kung pao sprouts were to die for. They were very accommodating of one of our party who is gluten free. Their soup special was a chicken stew which was perfect for a cold night. Kids meals were great. Would highly recommend.
I was intrigued because The Commissary got a high average review for breakfast and it was pretty close to where we were at the time . We were a group of seven on a Friday for brunch. We were able to get a table which was great. It was not that busy at that time 11am-12pm.
Staff were was great. Service was very good. Food was pretty good but not necessarily best for breakfast. The fall frittata could have used more seasoning and the veggies were a bit under cooked in it. Same for the potato latkes, a bit undercooked.
Gluten free blueberry pancakes were pretty darn good I have to say.
Chorizo breakfast tacos were pretty good also.
A great place to grab food with friends, but they only have bottomless brunch on Mondays!
Great brunch spot! Healthy and comfort foods avsilable. Cozy with great service!
Love the ambiance! Our waiter Zack (?) was attentive and super sweet, made great recommendations and was an all around great server! Food delish, we’ll def be back! 👍🏼👍🏼
Great food but slow service
Service was fantastic! Food was really great! The samir cocktail was also very yummy!
Great brunch spot. Love the overall food and atmosphere. Current management is spot on. Bloody Mary's are on point! This is officially on my top "go to" spots for weekend meet ups with the besties. Can't wait for the Brittany Brunch in December!!!
