Eat inside of an honest-to-goodness greenhouse at Chef Roy Choi's Commissary, a California American restaurant at the Line Hotel's second floor. Commissary's fare is bold and fresh, contrasting bright and flavorful vegetables with quality hunks of meat and seafood. Cocktails with names like Pimp's Cup and Gin & Juice reflect the restaurant's fun atmosphere.

Commissary's Faackitas is a highlight of the dinner menu, served with a poblano mash and cotija. The Cauliflower Steak is another must-try dish. Rice bowls with your choice of vegetables and protein make for a nice lunch, mixing ingredients like charred broccolini and avocado with tofu or chicken confit. Indulge in the weekend brunch buffet offering bottomless mimosas, prime rib roast, and all you can eat entrees.

Yo, this place is outstanding. The ambiance/vibe are second to none. I wouldn't want to ruin this for you - go experience it for yourself. Now. 5/5 stars

Commissary by Roy Choi was an experience! The selection of the Sunday brunch was excellent and a great value - it really brought in the younger crowd. Place was packed; very noisy - could not carry on conversation without screaming. Great for the hippy young set!

Definitely make a reservation, it's a hot spot for sure, but one of the few that's worth the hype. Also, they only seat complete parties - so make sure your friends are on time (mine were not). We all got the brunch buffet (and bottomless mimosa) and the food options were plentiful and delicious - plus, despite being very busy, the service was lovely.

The "community table" is physically uncomfortable. I would not recommend it for anyone with long legs. You can not sit with your legs in front of you. I had to completely man spread and hunch over to reach the table or turn completely sideways if I wanted to cross my legs. After sitting there for a few minutes I knew it would be hard to get comfortable so I inquired with the host and they said they could only seat us at a two person table outside. Let me just note...on booking I did request a 2 person indoor table but I knew there was no guarantee. It was a COLD night. And the outdoor seating lacks the ambiance of inside and is lit like a blockbuster video. Meanwhile...there were two empty 2 person tables right near us. We must not have fit the bill. The food was great though! Just a bummer about the seating.

I found this venue online and I chose this place based on reviews and pictures of the venue. I went to this restaurant for my birthday brunch with family and friends. I booked the place a few weeks in advance. I was disappointed that they stuck us in the back right next to the DJ... there were a few seats open next to us so I don't see why they didn't let us sit a few seats away from the DJ so we would have had a bit more elbow room. We had a big enough party where tip was already included so I think that's why the service was poor. The waiter didn't come back to check if we had all of our meals and never came back to refill our drinks. We had to ask a different waiter. The food was good, the ambiance was very nice, but the service was bad.

The Commissary food is always great. I have been for dinner, private parties, and this time it was brunch. However, the hostess was not very polite or friendly. The waiter/waitress was great. Brunch has options of a la carte or buffet. I went later in the day so the food had been sitting out for awhile, such as the cheese which should have been kept cool. A la carte menu is just as good as buffet. Desserts from the buffet were very tasty and delicious.

Beautiful building, energetic and eclectic ambiance. Wish we could have seen it in the sunshine as well! We ate all vegetables and each dish was flavorful, interesting, and beautifully executed. Cocktails were also amazing. It was a really fun atmosphere. Hostess was friendly. Waiter was slightly brusque but unobtrusive.

I came in for DineLA and despite the negative reviews, I was willing to give Commissary the benefit of the doubt. Here are the pros and cons of my experience.
Pros: The plates that they used were nice.
Cons: Food was not worth the price at all. It was not flavorful and the overall menu was basic AF. The waitress messed up my group's order twice and made it seem like we were wrong. The drinks were $15 but were really worth maybe $9. The service was extremely slow. I can't stress this enough. Even though the place was not packed at all they forgot about my table many times. My table was serviced by 5 different people. They think this helps but it just confuses them. When you eat there be prepared to pay the "Tourism Tax" for eating at a hotel. The two stars is because Yelp says 2 stars is - "Meh. I've experienced better". I will not be going back and will not be recommending this place to anyone. Stay away.

Half of our party of 4 did the all you can eat brunch buffet for $37 (includes prime rib); the other half had the normal breakfast entrees $14-19. Some favorites of the buffet: eggs Benedict; pancakes; French toast; salmon poke; seaweed salad; chia seed pudding; almond panna cotta. The only things we thought were okay were the corned beef (we craving the one from the can for some reason) and the avocado toast with salmon (regular entree).

The ambiance and the service were great; we ate outside which was nice and quiet (inside tends to be noisy). They had some kind of generator/ heater which made your legs really hot, but it was turned off after awhile. I definitely would come back for brunch for a special occasion.

A bit overpriced, 3 scallops for $34 is a bit crazy. They tried to seat us out in the hallway until we spoke up. Service was not up to par given the prices.

I love the Commissary! The ambience creates a wonderful dining experience. My friend and I got together over dinner to catch up. Luckily for us, it was Dine LA week and The Commissary was participating. We shared dishes: the fried chicken and shrimp scampi. It was delicious! I really enjoyed the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer. I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for an LA gem or looking to grab food and a good drink!

Great food & great server. Hostess was awful. I’ve never been treated the way she did us. It was beyond ridiculous. Thankfully our very sweet and attentive server served us some very delicious food. The restaurant needs to rethink who the first person their patrons encounters. My date & I still are joking about how snotty she was to us, it was gross and not needed. I’ll go back but hope I don’t encounter her again.

We booked a resi thru the OpenTable website for a bunch of restaurants for dineLA (thru an email you had sent out specifically for dineLA deals). Today we went to our first, Commissary, a place we’ve never been before, and when we asked for a dineLA menu, they said they don’t do dineLA for lunch on weekends. It was a real disappointment. Would have been great if that had been indicated on your website or on theirs. We ended up leaving. Too bad. We were really looking forward to the prix fixe lunch and giving a new place a try!

I went for the NYE dinner buffet which was highly overpriced and they seemed to be running out of food when we got there at 8:45pm. Service was bad on a few levels and they started clearing away our drinks when we stepped away to take pictures and weren't finished. Disappointed.

First time there. I started to follow Roy Choi on Instagram after meeting him at Locol shortly after they first opened. He is inspiring. He posted about the NYE special at Commissary. It exceeded our expectations. Exceptional comfort food (killer baked salmon, and a delicious cauliflower dish), lovely and unique indoor/outdoor ambiance, creative cocktails, and their baked goods were simply amazing. My wife bakes, and it was clear to her they are baked on premises. And Roy was even on hand making sure things ran smoothly for NYE. We will definitely return to check out the Sunday brunch.
