Amazing as always
We went for the first time for our anniversary. The food was excellent, the service was great, and our friend Kayla (employee) even bought us a desert!! I’d highly recommend this place to anyone!
My husband and I love Commerce Kitchen and especially love dining in the outdoor seating area along the side of the restaurant during the warm weather months. The area is well shaded by trees and the view of historic downtown Huntsville and the opportunity to watch folks strolling around the Square is relaxing. The seating inside this lovely old building is cozy, casually upscale, and moderately noisy (you should still be able to carry on a decent conversation). Commerce Kitchen is a local restaurant - not a chain. It is usually packed, so plan to make reservations! The food is very good. The menu is not huge, but there's a selection in almost any category (chops, chicken, seafood, steak, pasta, etc.). There are daily specials and the regular menu always contains local specialties or items with a special "twist" - like fried green tomatoes or burgers with pimento cheese, Falls Mills Shrimp & Grits, and Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Sweet Potato Mash & Collard Greens. Portions are moderate and when we leave we are satisfied but not overstuffed! The Spinach and Fried Egg Salad is my "go to" for lunch and for summer dining - light, but filling and the blue cheese dressing and crumbles add nice tang. I've had the Harissa Salmon and the fish is always tender, moist and flavorful --cooked just right. The petite rolls served before dinner are wonderful -- so soft and "right out of the oven" warm! Prices are a little on the higher side, but the quality of the food and drinks is consistent, the service has always been good whenever we have dined, and the ambience and charm make it well worth it. Don't expect this to be "fast" food or to "tie the feed bag on." This is meant to be relaxed dining. Have a cocktail and sit back and enjoy good conversation. Commerce Kitchen is gracious without being pretentious -- a nice taste of true Southern hospitality.
Everyone ordered filets. 2 ordered medium-rare and 2 ordered medium. 3 came out medium and one was medium-well.
Great service and food. A little pricey but was worth it
Good food, good service. Entrees and specials were excellent. Recommended wine was excellent. I was a bit surprised we never got any bread.
It was amazing as always!!!
The Father’a Day brunch was delicious. Our server, Tim, was excellent and most attentive.
This is the third time we have eaten at Commerce Kitchen, and it will be our last. Service was poor. We saw our waiter when he took our drink order, our food order, and when he brought dessert. We had to flag people down to get refills. He never checked in to see if our food was OK. This was a limited menu for Father's Day, and every course had something missing our wrong. The fried oysters had bits of shell in them. I ordered the shrimp and grits and the fried egg that was supposed to be on top (kind of obvious) was missing. I guess that is better than the table next to us where the grits were missing. My kids got the stuffed French toast. One of them got the syrup and butter, and the other didn't. Luckily, there was enough to share because again, no one checked to see if it was OK. Desserts were missing their toppings. The red velvet was supposed to have candied pecans and the cheesecake a berry medley. None on either. A very unimpressive experience especially for the price.
This was our first time at Commerce Kitchen. Heard great things & wanted to try it out. We waited uncertainly in the “entrance” (which was the bar) for 5 minutes. We were then taken to our table for two, which was tiny and stuck in the middle of the aisle. We were so closely packed, when the waiter at the next table poured water for other diners, it splashed onto my bare arm. Every time a server walked by, I had to lean away. The food was pretty good, but I couldn’t really enjoy it, being so uncomfortable with my surroundings. I won’t be back.
Food is always
Great good, excellent service, nice location on the town square.
AMAZING Brunch. Something for everyone and the brunch punch is spectacular
We have been to Commerce Kitchen many times and consider it a go to for special occasions. We will not be back. The food was not up to their usuals standards. My husband’s pork chop was tough & dry and he was unable to eat it. My meal was greasy & tasteless. The sever stated they would “Comp” our dessert but when we received the bill we were charged for both dessert & the meal. No refill was offered on our drinks. My husband had to request they not “water down” his drink when requesting a refill. Very disappointing night.
Overall we enjoyed our visit. The wait staff was prompt and friendly. The service was excellent. The menu Item I selected was properly cooked and was excellent. My only complaint is the on line menu did not accurately reflect the menu we were offered at the restaurant. I had my heart set on the lamb that was on the online menu but not available at the restaurant.
Had a great first date here and the food, wow, was excellent!!
Professional dinner with executive. The crab dip appetizer was decent. He ordered a burger with egg and gruyere and loaded baked potato, which he was well pleased with. I got the special pan seared mahi mahi with pasta. My fish was overdone and pretty tough, but the flavor was good and the was pasta was very nice. We finished with the cheesecake which was fantastic. Service was top notch.
Simply elegant and amazing. I enjoyed my lunch and I really enjoyed the quiet and intimate atmosphere Commerce Kitchen provided.
Our food was delicious and our server was kind and very attentive! They walked to Cotton Row to get us more champagne for our mimosas! Very nice Sunday Brunch spot!
Another great meal at Commerce Kitchen. Always great food and service.
Our go-to place... consistently excellent. Shrimp and Grits is the best I've had on the planet.
Nice place, just wouldn’t order a steak there. No flavor, but the atmosphere and waitress was nice.
Amazing food and excellent service, Congratulations Chef Boyce!!
My husband and I had our first date night out since our son was born, and it we were not disappointed! The fried green tomatoes were fabulous, as were both our meals. The drink selection was great and we had such a sweet, attentive server. We were in the corner booth, so had some privacy, which I would recommend.
Overall was a great experience. Great food and a great waiter. But it was very noisy and the front door area was crowded and cramped.
This is a great restaurant! We sat outside, in the shade, had a.great meal with great service!
I’ve been to Commerce on several occasions and the food is always amazing. This time the service was just as amazing as the food! We had the pleasure of being taken care of by a new waitress. Her name is Kelsey and the service was the best I’ve ever had! I’ll definitely be asking for her the next time I’m there!
This is a terrific restaurant to get together with old friends. The food is very good as is the ambience but its an especially nice environment for a casual conversation.
CC is known for its Shrimp and Grits and rightly so. 4 out of 5 of our party had them and everyone thought they were wonderful. One had the blackened catfish and it was excellent also. Spicy without being overpowering. Dessert was not as good. In trying to give the bread pudding a vanilla cheesecake flavor, it became almost dense and gummy rather than the fluffy texture we were expecting. Handicap access could be better as well.
Food was delicious! Will definitely be back.
We we're celebrating two graduations and two birthdays. Jane, our server, was phenomenal. I spoke to her prior to everyone in my party arriving and asked if she could have a dessert brought out with "Celebrate". She did ten times better, she brought out two plates, red velvet cake with Happy Birthday written on the plate and a cheesecake with Congrats graduates written on the other plate. She even took our group photos! Our lunch was delish and Jane's attention to detail made it a special day.
Great restaurant, service and food.
A wonderful night out and highly recommended
Anniversary dinner with complementary champagne!!
My mom and I came for brunch and we were very impressed. The food was delicious, the service was quick and polite, and we just had a very pleasant experience. Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes benedict and the bayou omelette - both were SO GOOD! We'll definitely be back!
With an empty restaurant, we were seated within i foot of the other couple in the dining room...made conversation awkward. Shrimp and grits was tasty. Veggie pasta had around a table spoon of veggies, so was underwhelming for a $20 dish.
Excellent Service and amazing food
We had a business lunch at the Commerce Kitchen. The food was great and the service was excellent. I have been here many times and will return.
The food and service is always consistently great! Out favorite place to go in Huntsville to celebrate a special occasion!
We waited about 20 minutes for our table though we had reservations through Opentable. My food was mediocre and the dish my wife ordered was very subpar. Very noisy. The wine we had with our meal was very good. Likely will not be going back.
Excellent Mother’s Day brunch. We all enjoyed the delicious menu and the atmosphere!! Was a wonderful day!
