The only reason I’m giving an overall 3 stars is because the food was halfway decent. as soon as we walked in we wanted to walk back out based on how loud it was. I had to shout to my date just to speak to him. Conversation was impossible. If we hadn’t been starving we would’ve left and tried somewhere else. The service we got was the worst I’ve ever had. Highly unprofessional and she was walking around like she couldn’t care less about her job. Just very sluggish and not putting any effort into anything. She would ask if we were doing ok as she was already walking away before we could even answer. We started with the house wings as an app and weren’t given any extra napkins despite the messy sauce or any side plates. Halfway through eating them we finally caught someone’s attention to ask for it. At least the wings tasted good. We waited over an hour for our entrees and it was only two of us dining. The bar was busy with standing patrons but the dining tables were practically empty. I got the scallops with couscous and everything was cold. I ate it only because I was starving. There were 4 random slabs of butter on the plate too that didn’t melt on anything since it was all cold. Pointless. My bf got the rotisserie chicken which was delicious. We asked for a dessert menu and there was a pie of the day listed. When we asked a server what that was she responded, “it’s like chocolate somethin. It’s hella good doe. It’s hella good”. I’m shocked at what unprofessional people the Fairmont hires. We will not be back. Couldn’t wait to get out of there. Oh and did I mention the auto gratuity that got added to our check for a party of 2? Yeah the horrible waitress hustled us as well.
I work in the neighborhood which is practically a restaurant desert. Columbus Tap is a great find. Food is good-- interesting but not crazy. semi-artisanal. Nice winter soups, hefty salads and burgers. It's not too noisy--easy to find. Best of all-- Moe is a very good waiter!
The food was like putting together left over scraps. Very disappointing.
Terrible service. Our waitress was no where to be found. Waited over 1.5 hours for our food order. About half the food was served cold.
Thought it was priced a little high for what you actually get. Service was good, ambiance is nice for lunch, but wasn’t blown away.
Very nice place for dinner for an event in the Harris Theater.
The food was amazing. Especially the strawberry pie!! Our server Veronica was totally amazing. She was absolutely the best server I have ever come across. She suggested great drink options to go with our meals. She even even took accountability for a food order mistake and corrected it. I will be sure to ask for a table where she is serving. Kudos to an amazing person!!
Great waitress helped me choose a beer and made great good recommendation as well. Loved the appetizers and entrees.
Not too bad of a location to grab a beer and bar food. I disappointed in the quality of service that was provided.
Loved the food and the ambiance. We had the kombochu beer soup and avocado toast. We added an egg to the toast which was delicious. Only complaint is the toast was $8 (great bargain) but the added egg was $4 (and it was cold). Otherwise will definitely be going back.
Excellent and unique menu. Great customer service as well!
We were there on a Thursday evening, just the two of us.
Very quiet, not busy. Our waitress was very good, made several good suggestions for the meal as well as other places for the next few days.
Great meat/cheese board to start. My halibut was very good.
Food was amazing!!! Our server was great. It just took a little longer than expected but was so good. I was less than impressed with hostess. She was nice but I was trying to change our reservation but was put on hold so long that I made to the restaurant to change the number in our party.
Great spot to meet up with my brother while he was in town on business. Good variety even though it's a small menu. He's a vegetarian and was happy with the salad and rissotto, as well as the veggie sides. I also enjoyed the squash soup, asparagus salad, and charred broccoli. SO GOOD. Our waiter wasn't as attentive as I would have liked, but it was packed - even for a Tuesday at 630P. I figure there's a lot of conference traffic in the area.
Decent food, nice space. Drinks & food took too long. Overall a fine experience.
Service was horrible. Food sucked and prices were outrageous.
Food was great-especially roast chicken. Drinks on the expensive side. Not as cozy as it could be or the name conjours up. I faced a huge glass internal window and watched dozens of people exiting the hotel lobby.
Absolutely miserable. The hostess was rude and the waitress was rude.
Very hostile. Not sure what set them off. Had to get the food runners to reorder drinks . Only saw our waitress when taking our order and when she brought the check. Don't waste your money!
Delicious food. Great environment. Liked it a lot!
We went to Columbus Tap for a casual dinner. They have an interesting menu with some unique combinations. My chicken was good, although a tinge dry. My husband's fish and chips were not very good. Very bready and he was not happy with it. The waitress was very friendly although she never inquired why my husband did not eat much of his meal. I hate to leave a not great review, but maybe it will help the restaurant improve.
China can after a series of very elegant quiet venues with excellent gourmet food selections, the restaurant was a disappointment. We did know that it was a gastro pub, the name for which sounds very unappetizing for starters, And because we had a nice formal dinner at a fine dining establishment on Friday night this week we decided to walk over for a more casual dinner on Saturday. It was just shocking to see how the interieur was deliberately dummied down to this cracked tile floor, loud place with pretty much ordinary food. Most of the selections we had were excellent and were the waitress recommendations. She was excellent. The fish with the fish-and-chips was soggy and mushy… the only real criticim we would have.Just a disappointment8ng experience.
The food was reasonably good. We all had steaks (of different kinds) and they were excellent. It is a bit pricey having to add all the veggies and potatoes separately. The cocktails were alright but again a bit pricey and the one glass of wine I had costs $20 which was quite a surprise to me. Our desserts were a little disappointing - it seemed like they forgot the white chocolate/Grand Marnier sauce for our ice cream sundae (or if it was there, it was undetectable); the server did eventually bring some more sauce and it was good. I'd probably go again if I wanted to eat at the hotel where it is located (The Fairmont), but I don't think it would be a destination for me if I wasn't staying there.
During the busy lunch hour it took a while to get a waiter, but from then on he was excellent. The lamb burger is fabulous!
Very limited menu, and not many gluten free options. But what I had (salad) was good. Beware: like every hotel restaurant in the Loop, incredibly overpriced.
Good selection of drinks but there was Limited food menu
Great food, amazing service. Overall we were very pleased with everything. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to try somewhere new.
Experience overall awesome except the first drink I order Moscow mule was horrible. The waitress took it back recommended another and all was well. Food was delicious and as my husband likes it pipping hottt! Would definitely recommend it
The climate was cold as always. The food was delicious!
Absolutely incredible burger! Spend the extra $2 on bacon as it may be the best two dollars you ever spend.
great spot for business lunch, roomy, food was excellent.
I'm a very easy going and forgiving guy who generally doesn't leave bad reviews, but I want to spare someone a couple hundred $ on a lousy experience. For the price the food should have been MUCH better. The Outback steak house would have been better AND half the price. The room is also very acoustically loud amplifying the staff's incessantly loud voices and laughing. The two bartenders and the waitresses at the host station were carrying on behind us the entire time like they were 100ft apart in a crowded room, except there were only 2 other people there. That should have been our clue when we walked in. We had to constantly lean into one another to have a conversation. Not the nice Mother's Day dinner we had hoped for. Will not be back, unfortunately.
Wow. Columbus Tap blew my expectations away with food selection, preparation and flavor. We ordered a variety of options, including the avocado toast, burnt broccoli, pretzel, and the burger. I was blown away by the flavorful preparations of everything we ordered. Service was very good, and our table of 5 enjoyed probably best meal we've had in Chicago. Beer selection was excellent, as well.
Thought prices we too high. It was more of a diner atmosphere. Not what we expected. We decided not to eat, so not sure if the food was worth the price. They did have a nice selection of beers so we stayed for one drink and went elsewhere for dinner.
Food and service was excellent. Mostly specialized in beer but some nice wine options. Relatively new and nice ambiance
This was cute. Service was good. Really pricey especially the drinks. Not sure I would rush back.
WOW! We've been here a few times and really love the food and service. This time we went with my family on Presidents day. They easily accommodated our group including two little ones. Our waiter, Moe, was fantastic. Everyone really enjoyed their meal and time in this restaurant. Thanks Columbus Tap, we'll be back.
My boyfriend and I participated in restaurant week and experienced subpar service. There was some confusion with our server concerning our appetizer order, so our first course not only came out wrong, but it also took almost 20 minutes and our soups were room temperature. The entrees and desserts came out quickly. A few bites into dessert I started experiencing an allergic reaction. I'm not aware of any allergies I have, so I was surprised and just wanted to know what was causing it. Our server didn't seem too concerned, but said she would check with the chef. Another 20 minutes later the chef came by, went through the menu items we ordered, tried his best to guess what could have caused it. So $85 later, we left the restaurant pretty underwhelmed by the experience. I guess an allergic reaction isn't important enough for a manager to stop by.
Great ambiance.. great food and drinks. Great for an after work get together.
Nice place to have lunch - but service was a little slow. Great food and prices are good for downtown Chicago. One odd thing, and it could be because I'm from a smaller community, but they don't accept cash!
