Columbus Inn Ratings and Reviews
Got the table that wanted which made everything better. Meal was okay nothing special. Eat there often enough to know that I will get for the most part value for my money. Except with the cream burlee, I do not think there was an oz of custard in the ramkin. Nevertheless Columbus is like an old pair of slippery reliable and comfy
We arrived at 5:00 for our 5:15 reservation. Management had clearly overestimated their seating capacity and underestimated the amount of time diners would stay for this family style Thanksgiving dinner. We were finally seated shortly after 6:15. Drinks were excellent. Turkey was moist and tender. But most sides were cold, and the stuffing was dry (with no additional gravy provided). The requested second helping of turkey never arrived. Dessert offerings were skimpy and neither coffee nor after-dinner drinks were offered. Wait staff was consistently courteous but obviously stretched far too thin, and must have been exhausted by the time the evening wound down.
This was our first ever Thanksgiving dinner out and it was a huge disappointment. The service was incredibly slow and very disorganized as was the overall place. They did not seem to have enough servers for the number of guests, the food was lukewarm, at best, and nothing terribly exciting, and not cheap. I do have to say there were two brighter spots - the coffee was quite good and hot and the desserts were tasty. Overall though, a big disappointment. I felt bad for the waitstaff.
Save yourself aggravation and stay away from the Columbus Inn! This place used to be wonderful.
This was the worst experience ever! The hostess gave our reserved table away and didn't even apologize! Isn't it standard to ask the people the name on the reservation? We had a party of six and were on time to celebrate my dear friends birthday. We had to make a suggestion on pushing tables together, so we could sit in the room was had requested. The services was horrible and the bartender argued with my friend. Horrible!!!
We split butternut squash bisque for our starter. It was delicious & easily could have been a meal on its own. We each had the salmon which was perfectly prepared. To finish we had two different flavors of gelato. I had decaf coffee which was very good. The entire meal was wonderful. My only frustration is I always find it to be loud. Other than that I've always had a good meal at The Inn.
This was the worst experience I have ever received dinning here. My family and I have been coming here for over 12 years for family brunch to anniversaries and birthday parties. The first issue was after being seated. My grandmother and I sat for 15 minutes and our waiter or waitress had not greeted us. We has specially came for the brunch buffet so I told my grandmother to get her food and I would wait to put in our drink order. My grandmother came back and still we had not been waited on.So I went to the hostess stand to let them know we were still waiting for our server. Then I went to get my food and by the time I came back Jennifer had came already. Through out dinning she was not attentive. I had to ask another server to ask her to come and that took her 10 mins to respond. My prime rib was cold off of the buffet and I sent it back to be reheated which took 20 minutes. We chose to dine before the lunch rush so it was not busy. Mind you there were plenty of other staff members rotating about the area, even a manager who checked on other parties to see how everything was gong but he never came to our table. And our table was not hard to miss (5 top round left of the buffet). I thought the Columbus Inn was a pleasant place to dine but I guess things have changed. As a fellow person who works in the food/ hospitality industry I understand and have gone through the same things that I experienced on this very day. I'm very upset on how there was a lack of accountability and apologies toward us for our dinning experience. On a positive note there was a very pleasant and professional server, a slender Caucasian male with blond hair. He was the only person who checked on us and was very welcoming. He is a keeper and I hope you treat him well for HIS customer service. His alone was better than the restaurant as a whole.
I always enjoy the Columbus Inn. And, will continue to. But, the food service this time was slower than average. And, the women’s bathroom is really worn for a restaurant of this caliber. Paint and finishes scratched and worn and on the ceiling above the sink there was a full section of paint peeling off.
A group of colleagues and I meet once a month for dinner. We have chosen Columbus Inn several times because of the excellent menu and choices. But this time we chose it because of the chef's dinner special. On Tuesdays one may choose from the selections made by the chef for a great three course meal. We were seated outside this time and it was fine although more noisy than usual. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We made a reservation at this historic building for brunch to celebrate the birthday of one of our friends. The brunch buffet was absolutely amazing with a wide variety of delightful food that would satisfy anyone. The patio was gorgeous, as was the rest of the building. For what we enjoyed, the price was outstanding and I highly recommend it.
Haven't been to CI in awhile. Food was terrific. Two of us had the steakhouse which came with 2 good size filets perfectly cooked with a blue cheese wedge and steak fries. Another had the special of scallops and short rib. He loved it! The chicken with waffles was good but not super.
And of course the smash burger was great. Service was just a little too slow. Seemed like our waiter had the entire front dining room. Our water was filled but we had to wait awhile for drinks and our food.
This is the second time in recent weeks that we have been to this restaurant and, unfortunately, the experience was similar to the one a few weeks ago.
We found the food to be good....no complaints there.
What bothered us is that even with the restaurant not particularly busy the service was horrible.
We had to wait quite a while for our drinks and then wait a very long time for our dinners.
Again, the restaurant was not particularly busy but we had the same experience with slow service the time before.
We will be rethinking our choice of local restaurants.
The food was decadent. The shrimp appetizer was deliciously simple. The beet salad was interesting. There were 3 of us and we shared 3 separate meals. The filet mignon was cooked perfect and melted in your mouth. The right amount of spinach and mushrooms cradled the steak. The next dish was the shrimp pineapple rice. This dish was so fluffy and light and offered an interesting flavor with each bite. The topping of asparagus was outstanding. I would have loved to have more spears on the dish. The third dish was crab cakes which were phenomenal. The drinks were out of this world. I will definitely be back. Excellent choice.
My husband and I had dinner reservations for date night. The outdoor heater was not working and it was very chilly. Our waitress was very sweet but the restaurant made no move to change our seating or fix the heater. My husband's meal was great but my portions were half the size for twice the cost. We eat out regularly at various local restaurants and I would say this restaurant has lovely ambiance but there are other restaurants that equally do for better value. It feels like the place wants to make up for the limited hours by overcharging.
The Columbus Inn looks a little old fashioned from the outside but the food is anything but. They have a large menu and seemed to be able to get everything right. Highlights: pumpkin soup was fall in a bowl, just on the edge of sweet but not; the gnocchi special was pillow perfect; steak frites were solid and the meat cooked exactly right. The best of the night had to be the apple fritter dessert- thank goodness we saved room. The fritters were tiny beignets with apple compote on the side. The whole dish was disconstructed and gorgeous for the eye and palate.
Kudos to Noah for great service. We can't wait to go back.
