Amazing food. Amazing service. Simply amazing.
The food was above average for a buffet. Not a whole lot for the vegetarian and very little for a vegan. Service was not top notch, but it seemed to pick up as the morning went by ( we were among the first to arrive at opening). Certainly plenty for the omnivore. Waffles and toppings were out of this world! Oysters plump and just right. I would guess they were blue points. Overall a good place for a romantic meal or a gathering of friends or family.
Wonderful experience overall... great food and service at a reasonable price. I’ll become a regular here.
Background music was a little too loud for the old folks and would have prompted more negative reviews were the room full of chatting diners. Ambiance was comfortable (in back room a table away from fireplace) and all food choices rated excellent. Our server Emily was delightful.
We had a lovely evening . . . A reasonably priced bottle of white wine ($40 ) accompanied the chicken dish and beef short ribs. Both well prepared and presented.
I give Columbus Inn credit. I posted a mediocre review not too long ago, and to management's credit, they reached out to me, sent me a lunch and dinner gift certificate, and asked for specific comments. And, they listened. I have since been back for both lunch and dinner and had a much better experience. The food and service was top notch. Clearly the more experienced servers work the dinner shift..but even the lunch server was attentive and friendly. So, I am putting the Columbus Inn back on my list.
One of our favorites, especially the Monday night steak and cake fixed price 3-course dinner. This time was not quite as special because the loud, blaring music overhead gave it an ambiance more like sitting at a bar instead of being in the dining room. Otherwise, all else was very good.
My husband and I had a DELIGHTFUL Sunday Brunch at Columbus Inn! There was a broad offering of selections and everything was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. The service was excellent and the ambiance was charming. The red sauce that accompanied some of the seafood selections had just the right amount of horseradish to make it taste just right. And even the hot chocolate bar was awesome! Background music was great - not elevator music! Highly recommend it!
Food was good but was not served very warm. Server was not especially helpful in suggesting items.
Although we frequent this restaurant often, we had the worst service on Friday evening. Not sure I will go back. Was a complete waste of an evening.
Food was very good but the room was too noisy. The low wood ceiling reflect sound.
Outstanding evening. Went with friends and the service and food we're great.
Columbus Inn is always excellent.
Second time here for Sunday brunch. Food quality and selection were above and beyond both visits.
Excellent service and food. And it was 1/2off bottles of wine night.
Love this place it is a wonderful place to go eat!
Food was good but not great, waitress was very good. Main complaint was noise level in restaurant was off the charts to the point of having to shout to talk. A large party was seated in the restaurant that were extremely loud so hard to tell what it would be like on a normal night. A party that size would have been better in a private room. We would not rush to go back.
Crab cakes were NOT all lump...lots of shredded crab and they were overcooked. Fries were limp and dark. My Seafood Cobb salad was fresh and good, but no larger than the appetizer salads served at the next table. We asked two servers for olive oil and a spoon but received neither until just before the bill came. Overall, it was a most disappointing experience after driving all the way from Lancaster to a recommended spot. Thumbs down.
Service was prompt. Food was ok, but soulless. They didn’t bring or offer bread or rolls or crackers or anything with our salads. The Caesar salads had croutons that looked like stale pieces of cornbread (too large and tasteless).
It’s a convenient location with plenty of parking, but I won’t go back.
Great Brunch and Good variety. The Food was fresh and prepared well.
Would have given this 5 stars except for two of the meals. One, the seafood salad was missing the tomatoes, the beans and another ingredient. So a little sparse. The chicken BLT would have been better except chicken cooked too long, and dry. The tuna and the filet mignon sandwich got rave reviews. Desserts were excellent and different from standard menu fare. Service was friendly and prompt, especially considering the waitress had a lot of tables. Also, the noise level was high, too high, and I was surprised to see a TV in the dining room.
Columbus Inn never fails to deliver! It is definitely our restaurant of choice for special occasions.
Great place for a romantic dinner. Food is always great!
Nice wine selection, good service from bar. Service overall was good. We weren't over- demanding, so nothing over the top was needed. No issues at all w/server- she was pleasant and attentive. Food was very good, but not insanely priced. Only drawback for me was having a table on each side of ours within a foot. Hard not to listen to them, and other way, I'm sure.
Wife and I went to Columbus Inn for dinner. Appetizer , soup, entrees we selected were excellent. Unfortunately the dessert, a creme brulee, was very disappointing--was like dessert was from a different restaurant than our first two courses. Wait staff first class.
Haven’t been here in years. One of premier restaurants in the Wilmington. Not any more, at least for a Friday lunch. Their large dining room was empty. Their alternate, smaller dining was busy. Ambience was lovely, fireplace burning. Food was OK. Service was slow. It was quiet enough, since it was a smaller room. Location is good, easy to get to... . Going there depends of what your priorities are.
What a great experience. We went for Valentine's day! Perfect Menu, Amazing food and wonderful atmosphere. Well Done Columbus Inn. We will be back!
We went the day before Valentines Day and had the Tasting Menu items (1 soup or salad, 1 entree, and 1 dessert) which was an excellent value. The food was exemplary and very tasty!
HOWEVER, the service was deplorable. Our reservation was for 6:30pm and because of the extremely slow service, we didn't get our check until 9pm. And we were looking for servers to ask for our next tasting menu item! It's too bad, because otherwise, this would be a great place to recommend on account of the delicious food.
I had lunch with a friend. It was her first visit, but I have been to the Columbus Inn at other times. The food was good. We had lunch at 1:00, so it was not too busy and noisy.
The food was good and the service excellent.
The atmosphere was quite lovely with a fire going. Three for lunch celebrating a birthday. We each had the crab cake sandwich with house made chips. Presentation was nice. Food was tasty but the crab cake was very small. Looked lost on the bun once you moved the lettuce and pickle that had been stacked on top. The Manhattan cocktail was excellent.
There was a time when the Columbus Inn was on the top of my list. Not anymore. It is not what it used to be. The last two times I have been there, the service was just mediocre. Both times I had to look for wait staff to take our order. Both times we had to wait too long to get our bill. I will not be going there for a long time I hope it improves.
The restaurant was nice and food was good. When I walked my date to her door my hands were sweating I was so nervous. I kissed her and she turned around and started making gagging sounds, that was embarrassing. The worst part was when I got in my truck, this guy pulls up in a tricked out Volkswagen and she comes out the door and they ride off. I hope she calls.
Great selection of brunch foods. Cozy atmosphere and fine service.
While the food was very good, we were disappointed with the inattentive service we received. On at least two occasions during our meal our server was nowhere to be found for 15 minute stretches. This occurred at the beginning of the meal just after being seated and letting him know we had only just begun to look at the menu, and again at the end of the meal when we were ready to ask for the check. In past visits we did not have any problems, so this was unexpected and not up to the usual standards we expect from the Columbus Inn.
The homemade applesauce purée with cranberry and pomegranate chutney was spectacular!
Among my favorite brunch spots. Usually crowded which speaks to the quality. Expansive buffet, high end foods and good bloody marys (not included in brunch price.) At some point, I'll make it back here for dinner.
My friends and I had the perfect brunch! The waitstaff was very helpful and friendly, not overly watchful. We sat next to the fireplace which was perfect on the freezing winter morning we came in. The only downfall was there was so much good food that we weren't able to try because we ate. So. Much.
Guess we have to go back!
Service , Atmosphere and Food were all quite good. I have only one concern. One of our dinners was Prime Rib and although it was done correctly and was tasty. The particular cut received was loaded with fat and in some cases difficult to separate from the meat.
So I would say the overall experience was very good but the difference between that and excellent was the cut of the meat
Went for a date night last week. Arrived a little early and was able to take advantage of the happy hour menu at the bar before our dinner. Cocktails were great, as was the gingersnap brie. Dinner was excellent! The sparerib stroganoff was amazing, and I am not a mushroom lover. Service was wonderful and we are already planning our next visit.
My third time dining here, absolutely love the atmosphere
